GETTING THE FOXBODY READY FOR RMRW 2023
Just another monkey see monkey do LS swap. You ruined that bronco.
ive got a 99 ranger single cab just like that and im tryna figure out the best and most unique way of swapping his old 2.5L out. thought of multiple k20-k24, LS, other v6 rangers, i dont know what to do anymore, i dont have the time or money or space right now. so its all just thinkin and lookin at what has been done before.
K series is an expensive swap and underwhelming stock. LS can be cheap and powerful. 5.0 sbf out of an explorer can also be done really cheap but don’t make much power. I was in the same position as you and chose EcoBoost because it was pretty cheap and makes great power. Everyday there’s people swapping EcoBoost and it’s becoming very popular. Get on the EcoBoost swap Facebook page, tons of info there. I will eventually make on video on the cheapest way to do it.
How did you mount the engine?
Modified universal small block Chevy mounts and fabricated the rest. Real simple design.
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT do you have a video about that? I’ve got a 16 fusion titanium I’m getting a motor for it to upgrade to stage two for that car. I wanted to rebuild the original and put it in this 1990 ford ranger I have. The ranger has the 3.0 v6 I believe.
@@bradyhuff9679 yes I did do a video on motor mounts. I think I have a EcoBoost playlist and I believe it’s in order start to current. If you do it consider relocating the alternator to the passenger side, it doesn’t fit well with the steering box. There was a guy on the EcoBoost swap Facebook group that would sell an Alternator bracket.
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT okay that makes sense. Do you have a Instagram I can have to dm you when I start this project with questions. I just finished a v10 build on my 2002 f250. The fusion is next, but I’m getting a parts car from copart for it. With that ecu you talked about hopefully the fusion harness will work but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. I’m definitely gonna do this to that, sounded cool as hell
@@bradyhuff9679 @slick_top_coupe86 on insta. Join the 2.3/2.0 EcoBoost group on Facebook if you can also, lots of helpful info.
What year?
97
That is so sick
What flywheel did you use?
01-11 2.3 Ranger flywheel and clutch
im doing that now
What did you use for shift linkage?
Stock shift linkage. Made a bracket. It’s not perfect but it does shift into all gears.
I want to ecoboost swap my 1999 explorer, but I can keep the 4x4 ?
Anything is possible. Easiest option would be to use a 10r80 transmission
are you running A/C in the bronco?
Yes eventually, however factory mounted LS stuff won’t fit unless I cut the crossmember. My options are high mount LS bracket or custom mount original bronco compressor. Not sure which yet.
What is your plan for the fuel system? Just running the stock in tank pump? Currently finishing on a Ls swap on my 96
255LPH pump, company called quantum fuel systems makes a nice direct drop in for the bronco. I think the website is highflowfuel.com they have a bigger pump option also
The coyote belongs in a Fox body!
Wonder how that house project is coming.. He probably has siding on it by now? Surely...
Yeah if he didn’t it’s probably because he finished all his car projects instead
Damn bro.. wanna be you when I grows up.. 😂
351 is a better motor.
No ls’s in fords putz. >:/
If i don't see a burnout in a month, I'm unsubbing...
We will see if the Chevy has enough power
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT be interesting to see how much better it does..
@@Sketchyrooster or how much worse?
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT lol... no waaayy
@@Sketchyrooster SBF fo life!!
Liked and subbed! Thanks for the video. Like you said, there isn’t much info out there for these trucks!! I’m in the process of putting a 5.3 in my 86 long bed F150. A little diff. but very similar. Would you happen to have, or would mind sending some pics of the engine position? That’s where I’m currently at, but I’m building some mounts to use with dirty dingo adjustable mounts with clamshells. I just need to see around how far forward and back and how high off the crossmember you are. Would you mind emailing me some pics/info?
Yeah, no problem. just send me your email.
I'll fix it if you messed it up
Man.. he'll fix your stuff but won't help me get Mighty on the road...
lol somewhere in tx ? I mean Mexico 😂🤝🏾
You don't have an extension cord?
No Pat, at that point in time i did not have an extension cord that had thick enough gauge wire that would support the amperage the compressor pulls. Besides I didn’t need it anyway.
Any updates on this beast? Im planning to build one too. But im eather going to move the engine and trans forward or turbo a fusion 2.5. I refuse to chop the firewall.
There’s a guy on the EcoBoost Facebook group that is selling alternator relocation brackets, I believe that would save you from cutting the firewall.
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT Hes referring to the cam driven fuel pump on the back side of the motor running into the firewall. If you swap an eco 2.0/2.3 into a stock duratec 2.3 ranger itll hit the firewall pretty bad. I had to notch mine almost 6" back to clear that pump.
@@TheMajictech also another possibility is using a 2.3 head from a 19+ ranger, it doesn’t have the high pressure fuel pump sticking off the back of it. I haven’t looked into it yet though, not sure of the differences. Wish I would’ve known about it before I destroyed my firewall lol.
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT good info, thanks man!
You got this, i appreciate your vids on the ecoboost swap, im currently looking for a 2002-03 ranger m/t duratec to do the swap on.
Sweet man! Hopefully I get my ranger back on the road soon.
Did swapping the sensor out solve the issue? I've been experiencing the same "slipping into neutral" in my 1994 f150
Yes it worked!
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT Went and swapped out the oem one with a napa pro replacement and it shifts like its brand new and no more randomly going into neutral. Thanks for the helpful video saved me a big headache and spending a bunch having a shop fix it!
@@Ober_83 awesome man, no problem!
Grenaded the diff in my s10 awhile ago. Tried to push the brake line up out of the way of the diff cover and it immediately tore a hole in the line. One less thing to do when i start swapping parts😅
New ecoboosts don't last, what is wrong wit u
Stock intercooler is bad.Good choice to go bigger.
I have made this swap. Just FYI the Ford performance set up does not use fuel return. And psi is 54 psi pressure. I think pans are same up to 2018. Bolt pattern changed in 2019. Mustang intake works great. The harness needs a specific crank trigger. Throttle body will fit. If any questions I may be of some help.
i have questions, looking at this swap for an 85 ranger, i have a full donor ford escape
hey any idea if there any alternatives to lowering the tacoma other than just the djm lowering block kit? i was hoping there would be a coil over set but i can't find one, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Chevys were worse. lol
Typical ford... cheby finna fix it!
Really like to know how that worked since the ecoboosts have that stupid ass intelligent 4x4
If it was me personally, I'd find a manual transmission from a donor vehicle and 351
I did consider a manual transmission, but a $900 remanned 4L80 is hard to beat price wise. I also commute to work in it so I was leaning toward auto. I also have 2 other vehicles that are manual and a lot more fun to drive lol
@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT I think the hardest part is finding all the supporting things like pedals and everything like that. I manual swapped my 85 e-150 van from a donor van in the junk yard, then i swapped in a 94 mustang 5.0 I got for $100 and ported the e-7s and ran a holley 600cfm.
Mercedes OM606 diesel beats all the others.
I’ve considered it, but they aren’t cheap nor are they readily available. Trans adaptors are expensive also.
Super informative! Godspeed on your swapathon adventures
What could go wrong...
5 slow... finally coming over to the dark side again.
Idk if a Chevy engine can even move this ford metal
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT well see if it ever runs again..
Don't screw that nice ride up with a chevy. Get you a AMC 401 and you will have power for days! AMC has Ford parts, and distributor is in front, so most people will never notice the difference. Until they hear the roar of all those American muscles ripping it up.
Lmao
What kind of asshole puts gm products in an iconic piece of machinery like the ford bronco.
Some Donald sh*t right there, Homie!
Neeeeeahhhhhhhhhh
Waiting on an update! I have a 2018 2.0 I’m putting in a Datsun with a ranger trans and eBay ECU like you had at first
Stayed tuned man, I got a lot on my plate but I’m working on it. Should be soon!
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT 10-4 🤘
I’m thinking about doing this are there any complications that may be unseen at first and how hard is it relatively
I’m going to make a video soon breaking down the easiest route and also things I would’ve did differently. For me the swap is pretty easy overall though. I’m a fan of the 2.0/2.3 EcoBoost platform and the aftermarket support is rapidly growing
Can you provide the size for the gas tank bolts and nut?
Psi ?
10ish
Hey Jimmy I have a question for you. I’m toying with the idea for my own Ranger, of putting a ford fusion 2.5 in it and turboing that. I’m decently experienced with swapping this motor already but my question is what does your wiring look like between the Ranger and your 2.0 ecoboost? Is it all custom?
I have a stage 2 cammed nc Miata 2.5 with the duratec. I have some experience with it
The original Ranger engine harness is gone, but I left all other wiring in it. The EcoBoost engine uses a standalone swap harness, all it basically needs is power and ground. I was once looking into 2.5 swap stuff. One big benefit of the EcoBoost is dual variable cam timing which allows you to make more power throughout the whole power band. Biggest downside is fitment with the high pressure fuel pump.
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT did you wire the harness yourself or what did you do?
@@mackfisher2330 I bought a swap harness already made but I’m working on making my own because I made some changes to my setup. Let me ask you this, what do you think it would cost you with everything engine, turbo kit, ecu/wiring, and also how much power will the 2.5 make reliably and what are your power goals?
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT I found out the later 2002 and up rangers used a 2.3l Duratec that when swapped with a 2.5 uses the stock ecu. I’m not sure on the wiring yet. Cammed 2.5’s like the one in my Miata make 200 ~hp NA. Boost will be extra. I’m not sure on price yet but I’m gonna make a custom turbo setup to save some money. The 2.5 Duratec makes very reliable power even under boost from what’s seen in the NC 2.5 Miata community. Let get a better cost estimate going!
Ohhh which eco boost was it you put in?
2.0 4 cylinder
Sick truck! Just picked up a 98 today. Is the blow off valve included in the kit?
No blow off valve included, this truck has no BOV.
I hear the eco boost is a piece of crap though?
Some of the 4 cylinders suffer from head gasket issues but they are easy to work on. Far from “a piece of crap” but not perfect.
The 2.0 is pretty dang strong. Been running 30 psi through a stock engine and it's awesome
Which eco engine is it? The 2.0?
Yes
Wheres the beans?
