LEFT HAND BASS
Celebrating my purchase of a Traveler TB-4P bass. I've used their Mark I for years, but it never had that P-bass growl - this one does.
Just a short rendition of "Taking a Chance on Love", performed on a Nord Electro 4D, a Traveler TB-4P, through a Yamaha EMX66M/S115, and recorded with a Zoom Q2N.

EHX LesterK and RefaceYC

A quick demonstration of how the ElectroHarmoniX Lester K rotary simulator can expand the spound of the Yamaha reface YC organ. First just the reface without effects (except the onboard reverb). Then the built in rotary simulation. Finally the EHX Lester K, which is used for the remainder of the vid.
Roller Coaster A Tribute to Lenny Dee

I was experimenting with the effects panel of my Nord C1 and found a delay feature that reminded me of the tape delay Lenny Dee used extensively in his live shows. I grabbed my old turntable, dusted off a record and found the track "Roller Coaster". I tried to transcribe this note for note, but at best it's an approximation. Also, technology being what it is, I used the key of "Db". I have sinc...

    How did you hook up 2 midi keyboards to play th upper and lower sections inyo 1 sound?

    • @Shaky_Jake
      @Shaky_Jake 4 месяца назад

      Those aren't MIDI - they are part of the Yamaha Reface series (REimagined InterFACE)that pays homage to some of their earlier keyboards. Each one has it's own sound generation onboard so no MIDI needed. Basically a mini organ and mini synth in their own cases.

      Jake Kulik awesome. My parents were fred and patty fischer..the glad rags. They tag teamed a few shows with you, particularly at this family company picnic place Forest Lodge. I was just a bratty kid at the time, and eventually played drums with them too... but keyboards won out eventually and that’s what I ended up doing in this realm. I had just recently unearthed my tattered copy of Do I Do, and posted about it on Facebook. A quite lengthy tale of being blown away by “this guy who sang, and played it on bass and Rhodes when I was a kid” - it may have been my first purchase of sheet music and most certainly my first attempt at playing something in B willingly. I notoriously play this one in every band I’m in and have even arranged it for a Latin jazz group I’m in etc. and I always cite YOU as being the root of that inspiration. Very glad I tracked you down. I accidentally got in touch with Al, the guy you replaced, lol... he remembered your first name, and RUclips search bar did the rest lol. @@SUNFLAREbandlatinjazz It amazes me that anyone even recalls me in that band much less a song I barely remember singing. I loved that song from the moment I heard it, and along with "Sir Duke" were my two favorite Stevie tunes. I would have to woodshed the hell out of it just to remember the changes now - don't get much call for it nowadays. I do remember your parents teaming up with us. Rick had a knack of handling talent and could find work for almost anyone. I'm not sure why but I apparently have two channels on You Tube, this one being the lesser used. If it wasn't for the phone notification I wouldn't have seen this reply for another week or so. I'm glad I was a positive influence for you (although dragging around keys and amps is easier now than way back then - to think I used to drag my B out for clubs). And you never hear them bitching about size. Some of the most legendary kit is limited - it's all about how artists go about choosing to exploit those limitations to their advantage. I didn't think I needed the G because compressed organ kills your dynamics. Darin, I don't run any of my keyboards in stereo. For live applications it's a given. The YC sounds horrible through the headphones out(stereo), but the Lester works quite nicely in mono. Also, my B-3 and Leslie 122's haven't been stereo for 49 years......😀 Thanks for asking. Jake

      Thanks for posting the video. I initially didn't like the YC Leslie sim very much when I played it myself - especially on fast speeds with higher drawbars pulled out - but have noticed like you it sounds much much better in mono. (This is isn't necessarily true for other Leslie sims.) I think the difference between the internal sim and the Lester is quite subtle, but I also know that when you play an instrument yourself, the experience can be different.

    You do have that tape delay echo effect very very close to Lenny Dee's ! Wish there was a real printed copy of " Roller Coaster" that one could purchase ! Is there ? Lenny Dee's white Hammond A was the BEST !!! Mark in Galena, Il

      Mark Rockwell I've never seen a chart for Roller Coaster. I tried to transcribe it as best as I could from an old 33LP. The problem is the speed was a hair fast and I play it a half step higher than the original. It's still a great song by a great player.
