Fuel tank repair with solder. The Fuel tank in a rotary hoe had some corrosion holes and wasn't holding fuel, using a soldering rod 40% Tin -60% Lead, I fixed the holes, works great now. Take care!!! with tank, thoroughly clean out the fuel before applying a flame to it..., and be aware that fumes from rod can be harmful.

Hats 🧢 off brother, you just solved my puzzle 👏👏
Possibly the luckiest soldering I've ever seen! For the first timers the whole concept of soldering is to put paste on the place you want soldered and heat that, not the solder. Once the place is hot enough tip the solder on it, it will melt as needed. Before you do any heating of a fuel container you must remove any potential of an explosion due to residual fuel vapors! And if you make a video do not play music as it is very distracting!
Great workmanship.
Thankyo very much
Love the music.
Seems this is your first time doing this. And what about giving precautions about making sure there is no gas residue in the tank?
I know it says glow plug “controller” but I believe it’s just an indicator.
Hey, where did you buy that soldering rod. I want to give this a shot on an old smudge pot I have.
Harbor freight
What is the purpose of the music?
Dude, you're a legend! After having to trawl through loads of guff, I finally find this little gem which shows me the exact issue and a fix which is in keeping with my _"repair _*_everything_*_ yourself"_ ethos. Thanks, man!
That is a grown ass tree wow
Is there much or less rick using a iron instead of a torch? I have a pin hole in my metal tank as well. Trying to figure out the best way to do this. I’ve been using a sheet of duct tape to get me by for each single use. Then take it off and re apply for my next mow. Its annoying but for a couple hours the duct tape works fine. Just a cheap 60$ brigs push mower i picked up but i’d like to patch it permanently if i can
You really helped me thank you.
I got same problem i will do this tomorrow nice one
Thanks! Worked like a charm. Used 1 layer of an old wagon tire tube. Took a few times to stretch out and cut off but now working fine. May last longer than the original.
i dont know who you are but thank you. its worked.
you from usa
good worck
I had no idea what I was dealing with when I took mine apart(I have a California air tool)...mine blew apart when I took it apart, and I have NO IDEA how it goes back together
Fixed mine with a rubber tire patch... Works fine!
Done the same thing, it works 2 years till now
Wow this is the video I have been looking for you are amizing. Tryed it myself compressor was not going above 4bar 1 inertube later holding at 10 bar was about to skip it till I saw this video thank you
You know that tank could have very easily blown up right?
If you look at the paint removal, there's been a lot of preparation prior to soldering. He's also very handy with the soldering skill, so no worries about this.
@@jimwoods9551 Famous last words. There should ALWAYS be substantial warnings and precautions before showing any heat related repairs to gas tanks. Exterior prep work and soldering skills have NOTHTING to do with the safety factor!! My buddy washed his three times and it still blew while he was working on it. Fortunately the size of the openings mitigated the explosion and the tank did not split. He figure all the fumes were now burned out so he proceeded...and it blew again. He filled it water like he knew he should have and finished the job. DON'T try this on a gas tank unless you know what you are doing.
@@FisherCatProductions I used lighter fluid as my first rinse then 70 percent rubbing alcohol and sloshed it around for both no issues but I also left the cap off and placed the tank upside down on a hollow concrete block to allow any explosion which its more of a rocket engine effect not an explosion another way is to use alcohol to rinse then to light it this poses a higher risk but the going theory is to have the fuel to burn on your terms and not later unexpectedly their is no safe way of doing this their is some amount of risk now after a good cleaning if you do your repair but still have a leak the risk after a second cleaning is greatly reduced as the issue is lacquered gasoline that does not rinse out easily my tank did not any build up so the risk was minimal
@@tomsims7868 Pardon my intrusion, but would you do this to a 16 gallon Steel gas tank for a car? I've heard that people have stuffed the tank with something (ground charcoal)? to give an extra measure of not exploding while welding and or soldering? I'm asking cuz I have a hole in my gas tank, I need to repair cuz I can't get another tank. Thanks. I appreciate your video and your choice of music, good job!
@@fubarlife7776 I think the key factor is volume I had a much smaller tank but the same protocols would work to clean it just need more alcohol and you would need to rinse a few more times then any explosion would be a poof out fill hole so keep that facing down or directed up and away with a thin pipe its not a huge risk if done right I would say soldering is less of a risk then welding and the charcoal idea seems like it would reduce the risk even further now welding onto a freshly emptied tank bad idea one could also fill the tank with argon or CO2 options exist I used what I had and it worked and I would do it again a bigger tank would change things slightly and that does not invalidate my protocols for my small 1 quart tank
thanks for ideas on how to make wheels for my electric wheel chair as the size i need isn't available.
Easy and simple solution below ruclips.net/video/8wrJxxOUbHs/видео.html
My diaphragm started leaking a week ago on a 25 yo compressor, just saw your vid, very helpful solution. Thanks..
I Fixed Mine This Away With The Old Diaphragm And The Innertube Wrapped Around It.. But My Problem Is The Little Spring Inside This Switch . It Wont Allow The Switch To Cut Off ...
thanks for the information i kinda always wondered how those kinda things was made
Thanks so helpful!! :)
Thank you for a high-quality tutorial on actual repair of a main pressure switch, a repair which probably will last even longer than the flimsy OEM rubber gasket it replaced. Your use of basic materials was very resourceful-- many people could disassemble the switch, but, faced with a materials failure in the gasket, would not consider an alternative to ordering a new switch. We gave the video a thumbs UP, and subscribed. BTW-- Your thumbs UP ratio is truly amazing, and very few videos achieve that.
That poor thing man looks like the p/o left nothing untouched lol, these are totally a peach to drive around though I have my grandfathers old b4200 and love the thing. I uploaded a few pictures onto reddit of the throttle linkage/fuel filter/ignition/engine bay that may be of use to you to cross reference, goodluck! www.reddit.com/user/Easy_Significance_75/comments/jmuzxy/b4200_throttle_linkagefuel_filterignition/?
Thanks mate, it will help.
Waiting for part 2
Just uploaded..its a slow project ..more soon ruclips.net/video/4dnH_nStsTA/видео.html
Just an FYI to you and your viewers. I also had a few bike enter tubs, but wanted too match the original diaphragm thickness, went down to our local tire shop and they gave me a HD truck tub, perfect match. I fought that small spring that holds the on/off push down button getting it back in. Did you fight this as well?
Matching the thickness was the trick, a truck tube is a good idea, the spring is adjustable and sets the tripping point, I got lucky I didn't have to readjust.
Ingeneous! Thank you!
Same problem here with a 30 lt GMC brand compressor. Lucky me I had a 2mm thick rubber mat. Copied the position of the hole from the old diaphragm into the rubber mat and it worked like a charm. Now it will probably outlast the life of the compressor itself. Handling the spring that operates the electrical switch itself is a pain in the butt because it is prone to jump out of sight where you less expect it and stubbornly refuses to stay put where it belongs. By the way, I'm not a cheap ass, I hate throwing away things that can be easily salvaged. Paying S20 for a new regulator and manifold assembly is nothing for many people in our consumerist society but the feeling of personal achievement repairing it is priceless.
Good stuff ,I agree..
Very good, just fixed mine. Thanks a lot.
Well done mate now I know what to go for as mine has that same problem thanks
Thanks great vid just what I needed , too confidently repair mine. 👍
Excellent video. I have a compressor that looks like they younger brother of the beast you have, with the same symptoms. Also remember I had some old bicycle inner tubes around. Will give it a go.
i have found the rubber from a industrel cemical glove handels the oil and heat beter
Good
Excellent Video! I was hoping to find someone fixing this air compressor somehow and cheaply and here you are! I'm going to do it like this right now! Awesome!
I was going to throw away my similar compressor when i realized it can be repaired by a simple bike tire interior. My curiosity also made me disassembled the valve and i couldnt put it back again.Theres a spring, that i dont know where it goes.I wish theres an assembly procedures for that, but for $10 from ebay why bother right? That rubber diagram was leaking exactly same with mine. Thanks for this video.
Top Man Thanks
farkin legend! my compressor is almost identical, and my first thought was to try patching it with a bike T tyre repair kit. this tip is way better. about to try :)
Thank you for this video! My hubby is going to try this repair!
Thanks just fixed mine thanks to your video
Thx v much I've work on it same as you've explained And it work az new thx v much sir
thank you for posting the vid. good to know double layer rubber works. spent the day looking for thicker stock to no avail. ?
