Karate-do training concepts and ideas for mind, body, technique.
Mugen Teisho
A kata created by Price, Soke some years ago.
The name of the kata, Mugen Teisho, is translated as "Endless Palm". This could be said to be the "theme" of the kata, which uses only open-hand striking techniques.

Master Darnell Leak - 1985 Tang Soo Do Georgia State Championships
Просмотров 5332 месяца назад
Master Darnell Leak sparring in two different matches en route to winning the Southeastern Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Invitational Championships in 1985. I remembered watching his fights and the ease with which he controlled the pace and distance of each match. I don't believe anyone scored a point against him, and despite different attacks, he was never off balance. Master Leak was a legend to m...
Kumite Waza I-VIII -- Solo Training
Просмотров 1978 месяцев назад
All Kumite Waza (I-VIII) done solo, left and right sides. This is a good way to train the waza through repetition for developing technique, speed, etc. The techniques are: 1.) Uraken, Gyaku Zuki 2.) Jodan Gyaku Zuki, Ashi Barai, Chudan Gyaku Zuki 3.) Uraken, Mawashi Geri simultaneously, Chudan Gyaku Zuki 4.) Yama-Zuki 5.) Jodan Gyaku Zuki, step immediately into Chudan Gyaku Zuki 6.) Kumite Waza VIII
Просмотров 6328 месяцев назад
Basically the opposite of Kumite Waza I, this short punching combination requires relaxation and good footwork in order to create angles.
Kumite Waza VII
Просмотров 4958 месяцев назад
This is an excellent combination to develop kicking and punching with the same side. Note the similarity to Pinan (Heian) Yon Dan kata.
Kumite Waza VI
Просмотров 2308 месяцев назад
Using Mae Geri immediately followed by Mawashi Geri with the same leg to begin, this combination is an excellent method to train kicking skills, or to see if you have them.
Kumite Waza V
Просмотров 7178 месяцев назад
Gyaku Zuki (Reverse Punch) both high and low make up this waza. This is a favorite of my Sensei. Correct timing makes all the difference when building coordination with this seemingly simple technique.
Kumite Waza IV

Yama-zuki (Double Punch, also known as "Mountain Punch"). A simple and effective technique to break through an opponent's defense.
Shuto--The Knife Hand

Some basic points about the use of Shuto (Knife Hand) in striking.
Kumite Waza III
Просмотров 3079 месяцев назад
Using uraken and mawashi geri simultaneously, this is a strong attack that can take away your opponent's focus, putting them on the defensive. Pay attention to the use of the backfist.
Kumite Waza II
Просмотров 3339 месяцев назад
Here the punch sets up the opponent for a sweep (ashi-barai) and a second punch. As with all seemingly "basic" techniques, there is more than meets the eye. Practice is needed to set up the timing here.
Punching: Structure and Alignment

A good punch is dependent on relaxation in movement. Here are some points (taught by Price, Soke over the years) to consider when training with a partner.
Kosa Uke: The "X Block"
Просмотров 69111 месяцев назад
A bunkai drill for this technique, which is often one of the most misunderstood in all of Karate-do. Similar (if not identical) to the "Hubud/Lubud" technique from the Filipino Martial Arts.
5 Basic Combinations (Renzoku Waza)
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Год назад
Here is a brief breakdown of the first 5 combination techniques (Renzoku Waza) that we have been covering in recent training sessions. These are great training drills that can be used to increase your endurance as well as see where individual techniques need improvement. I first learned these in the mid-1980's from my Tang Soo Do teacher, Grandmaster Andy Ah Po. I am deeply grateful as always t...
Kicking 101: The Front Kick (Mae Geri)
Просмотров 389Год назад
The front kick is usually the first kick that students learn. But, there is more to it than just picking up your leg and slinging it out. Here is a brief breakdown of the kick and a good drill you can do anywhere.

OSU Thank you for sharing ♤
Nice one, Kevin!
Great video, Shihan! Thank you for posting.
Thanks Sterling! Hope you are well!
Sensei oss" this is difficult
Awesome
I don't particularly care for the way they do the kata but love the application
Is there a Chi No Kata created by Gichin Funakoshi?
Yes, but this is not the same kata. The original name of this kata is Gekisai Dai Ichi. There are slight changes compared to the original kata from Goju-Ryu.
qual a linhagem desse kata?
I think you are asking about the lineage of the kata (?). As far as I know, Chojun Miyagi (the founder of Goju-Ryu) created the Gekisai kata. He also trained with Kenwa Mabuni (the founder of Shito-Ryu). Mabuni taught Kuniba, Soke, although Ryusei Tomoyori (a senior student of Mabuni) taught Kuniba, Soke a great deal also. I am guessing that is where these kata come from.
Osu! 🙏What is the english translation of "Yamazuki"? 💯
The English translation is "mountain punch". I have also seen "u-punch". I guess this is because of the shape of the arms in the technique...
"Free sparing"Is this spelled "Jiyu kumite" ? Posting this quote on my refrigerator "The movement is reflective of how good your basics are!"💯
Thanks Michele!
Pero ese es de karate do ?
If I understand your question (?) , it is a kata of Karate-do practiced in many styles.
TY Shihan
Real expert, it's a pleasure to see this explanation
Oss
Could you please put its bunkai?
Oss from Iran
The challenge is that is a frontal attack and one need to be faster than the other to win the clash.
The Gichin Funakoshi style is very bad and ineffective in real combat, and in a real confrontation it is of no use😢😂
Shoulder twisting not good! Gap!
hei ku-move please😊
Shuto is NOT to "cut". Shuto is to break a necessary bone.
Wow! Que aplicaciones extraordinarias. Gracias por compartir a tan excelente maestro!
Confusion to what I was taught. I love Kevin. Seeking consistency.
Hi Glen. Feel free to ask any questions. What are you confused about?
What video series is this from?
This is from a video that Kuniba, Soke and other senior Shihan and Sensei put together in the 1980's. The title of the video is "Action Karate", I think.
Les vrai maître
I recently received a question from Matthew Wood about the number of blocks (5) in this kata. They are: Gedan Barai, Nino Ude Uke ( inner forearm block--this is the one you may not be seeing which follows Gedan Barai), Yoko Uke, Yoko Uchi, Jodan Age Uke. Hope this helps. For some reason I was unable to reply directly to your question.
Excellent 👍🏿👍🏿
Thank you for presenting this video of Soke Kuniba.
Good, thats the same way to Train, we done in 1994
Hai
Quelle école ce kata ?
I don't speak French, but I believe you are asking which school (version) of kata this is? It is Kuniba-Ha Shito-Ryu.
@@Kuniba-RyuKarate-Do thanks
Thank u for ur teaching anan kata Sensei oss. Sensei can u pls make a vedio on anan dai tq u oss
Oss Sir , Thank You 🙏
Sehr schön🤩
You are so incredibly skilled! Are you going to do another slow walkthrough for this one?
Muchas gracias
Nice. Kev you taken it back to the old school
Be carful bro that foot is sideways as heck and you will break your foot if your opponent checks those kicks with and arm blocks just a tip ❤❤❤❤ stay safe y’all if you break yourself today you can’t train tomorrow 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌇
hes a master rank. dont think hes stupid
wau very cool but I'm still confused about the movement
When you are using naihanchi techniques, actually you are not facing the opponent but you are moving around to his side... The misconception that is taught is that the enemy is in font of you. You are actually getting your self at the side of the enemy and attacking from angles of 45 degrees or from or where you are at the back of the enemy...the attacks at never delivered with the enemy facing you directly... Oss! 🥋✌️
Thank you for sharing this video of Soke Kuniba, wish I could go back in time to learn more from him.
Hahahah the little kid looks like me when I was 13 years old and watching my old sensei hahahahahha
Nice Kata thanks for clearance Sensei osu
Thank u sir 😊
Trained under his tutelage in Chatenay Malabry, Paris
He was both my sensie's teacher and friend.
OSU from Waynesboro VA! These tapes of Soke are great to watch for students of his styles who never had the privilege of knowing him. Please upload more of these if possible!!
