Thank you for the feedback and for watching our video .... using rubbing alcohol with your fingers is the best way we have found to get the mount clean (and then let it air dry). We also use rubbing alcohol on that section of the windshield as well. That has really helped ours stay put and keep detachments to a minimum.

Did they get you with a laser (i.e., lidar) gun? If that was the case, the detector may not have gone off if you were the first and only vehicle targeted. Officers are trained to fire their laser guns at a flat surface, like the headlight or license plate. It's such a concentrated beam that radar detectors often can't pick it up (it's different if you are the third or fourth car in the line as the laser beam does eventually spread out, like ripples in a pond).

I've had trouble in the past . . . sometimes, I have to close the app and switch off my Bluetooth and that usually does it if I am having issues (like if it just shows the Bluetooth logo on the detector for a long time and doesn't connect). I've gone so far in the past to restart my phone, but most of the time, I'm able to resolve the issue by just closing the app and switching off my Bluetooth on my phone, then trying again. You are okay to just use Drive Smarter as it's the replacement for Escort Live going forward. If that doesn't work, you can message Escort's customer service via the app. I did that last fall when I was having some connection issues with my Redline 360c (some of it was because I had a Motorolla phone and they were working on getting the app to sync with that brand of phone). I personally like the Auto Lo K setting which provides additional filtering on K bands. Although there are some "punch throughs" on places like John C Lodge in New Center/Midtown in Detroit, I like how that setting mostly ignores the digital signage around Detroit (I also get some 24.133 type of punch throughs around rail and shipping yards). However, if you like a quiet radar detector, Auto Lo K is a good setting to use. I turn off my KA band detection via the settings menu, which enables me to use the segmentation filters. Here in Michigan, I run on KA segments 2,5, and 8 which are for U.S. spec radar guns. It breaks down like this: KA Narrow 2: 33.700 to 33.900 GHz KA Narrow 5: 34.600 to 34.800 GHz KA Narrow 8: 35.400 to 36.600 GHz These are Escort's factory settings for KA narrow and I find they work well here in Michigan (I mostly see 34.7 and 35.5 frequencies). That was partly done in the video to show how the BMS (battery management system) won't allow you to have any sort of spark or reverse polarity ... essentially, the GB70 isn't active until it's hooked up properly - or put another way, a novice who doesn't have a lot of experience with cars can't accidently use the jump starter the wrong way as the internal software prevents them from doing so. I don't specifically know about the chassis ground, but the owner's manual recommends connecting directly to the battery terminals itself: www.manua.ls/noco/genius-boost-hd-gb70/manual?p=3 When I was a service advisor back in South Dakota, we had a jump box under the main service desk. If a vehicle needed a jump in order to get it in the bay, we would always attach right to the battery terminals directly. It's a really good "middle ground" ... if you don't need the Wi-Fi capability, you can go with the standard 360 MKII and get the same hardware under the hood but for less money. Thank you for watching our video and for taking the time to comment.

Yes it does have that ... it's one of the sensitivity modes now on the MKII (it will read "AutoLoK" on the display screen).

Yes, you are right ... admittedly this was one of our first radar detector reviews and we have learned a lot since then. If we do a re-shoot of this video, we would make that adjustment as others have pointed this out as well.

Yes, you should be okay. The GB40 will handle gas engines up to six liters, which covers a wide swath of half-ton trucks and every small to midsize sedan or crossover, including luxury models.

Yes, it will be perfectly fine for Ford Rangers from the late 90s through 2011/2012 before they discontinued it. For years, I had a ranger truck with a 4.0 V6 (2001 and a 2005 model year) and jumped that battery on a few cold Nebraska mornings with less than what this new GB40 was. If you really want to be sure, the larger GB70 is NOCO's "truck unit." It has attached cables versus detachable ones to help deliver more punch to an ailing battery. Yes, that is correct. The MAXcam 360c is the MKII radar detector with a 1440p camera. Like the MAX 360c radar detector, the MAXcam also has the ability to connect to Wi-Fi. I think it largely comes down to how much you want to spend. The MAXcam will have a higher retail price at $850, versus just the MAX 360c radar detector at about $700 (not counting any deals or discounts). If you don't need the "connected" aspect (or the ability to connect to Wi-Fi), you can get the standard MAX 360 MKII (the one in this video). The performance as far as range detection, dual antenna platform, and false alert filtering is the same as the MAX 360c MKII (or at least in my experience). The standard MAX 360 MKII is less expensive yet, but gives you the same level of performance as the MAXcam or the MAX 360c MKII. Otherwise to your original question ... in my experience, the radar detector performance between the MAXcam and MAX 360c MKII is remarkably similar (and both have the Blackfin DSP chip from Analog Devices to mitigate false alerts). That said, I think it comes down to how much you want to spend and if you think having the "combo" of the radar detector and dash camera is beneficial for you. This is an extremely advanced detection system. I purchased one and quite honestly it was way over featured and priced. If you are an "enthusiast" with detecting and find it more of a cool hobby than actual functionality for traveling, you will love it. If you just want something that works well, don't waste your money. I travel daily for work 160 miles/a day on interstates, state routes, small towns - $300 detector works just fine.

What $300 (ish) radar detector do you have? How do you like it for the driving you do?

You mean on the Driver Smarter app that can pair with the detector (or the older iRadar app)? Yes, there is a way to do that. On your phone, tap the little "compass circle" icon. On the newer Driver Smarter app, the icon might look like a little triangle. That should rotate the map so your icon (either the arrow or the car) is going up.
