Such soaring 2nd wave skinhead melodies! Everything you love about the Clash, Sham69, and the Cockney Rejects all in one! At least those are the vibes I’m getting.
How’s that a wired label for this band. I know it was primarily a hardcore label but keep in mind Shelter and 108 were both on Victory. I wouldn’t exactly call any of the bands from Victory during mid-late 90’s conservative by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah their were some traditional blue collar hardcore bands that came from Catholic and Hispanic backgrounds and yeah they are usually somewhere in the center to center right, especially in that time period where Union tank and file realized that the party of Kennedy was dead and the unions didn’t do shit for them. Dues went in to essentially I giant slush fund that the bosses used to donate to big bank candidates. But now days with boomer generation retired and gen Xers being the high ups now 80% of Union workers don’t support the left again those being the rank and file. The Unions don’t even help them anymore and basically spit in the face of the workers and definitely don’t share the same morals and values. I have a buddy who gave 32 years of his life to the local Mill-rite Union and when his back was destroyed because he left it all on the field for his Union they didn’t give him one goddamn red cent. He had to go on govt disability. He was farely we’ll connect because his pops was the head of the local union hall. So just imagine those who don’t have an inside ear. In small city the unions shut down virtually every manufacturing job due to their corruption and antics. Which as we all know now those jobs got sent over seas, mostly China. Was their a time and place for unions yes absolutely. They were relevant and did a lot of good but like anything once the too big to fail walk street banks and inter corps got involved it was the beginning of the end. I know quite a tangent, sorry it’s just that I had many a family member and friends who’s livelyhoods were decimated by Union Thugs!! No matter your views the Strike is a great fucking punk band!
This takes me back to an amazing compilation VHS I used to have back in 2001 i believe. It had a some awesome music videos on it. I had this song stuck in my head at work and I had to look up the video. I could not find it on Amazon Unlimited though! Other bands on the video that I recall are Pinhead Circus, Mustard Plug, Alkaline Trio.... there are more but I cant think right now! Awesome song & video!!
