Phoenix's depiction of the joker was subpar and the premise of this movie was ridiculous as the joker is not truly a man. Giving him a backstory and relatable characteristics like mental illness absolutely ruined what the joker has always been. He is an entity. An idea. A demon made flesh.

Why not just make a movie not using an existing character as a basis? Could have just has easily called the movie "Mental Health: Untreated"...no need to try to tie it to an existing IP. Certainly brilliant acting and I have to call out some absolutely amazing cinematography...but generally I kept drifting off into the idea of "when will this have any resemblance of a DC character?"

Thank you for pointing out how trash this movie was. I don't know how anybody can say this movie felt like Joker. Must have been a struggle to not flat out tell them they don't know the Joker then. Todd Phillips was better off ripping off Goodfellas,and making a movie based around Joe Pescis character. Then just put Joker on the title of the film. It would have had more of a Joker feel to it. Greatest money grab and heist in movie history.

Half the people i see that loved this movie are marvel haters that don’t wanna see CGI so they think anything anti marvel- or even anti justice league that’s in the comic book grain is god their. This movie in no way needed to be attached to DC or Joker lore and they only did it to sell tickets deadass , if this movie was called ARTHER no one would’ve saw it😂

What's a book worth reading and having a pull list for?

Got a lot of books from the 70s through 90s, bagged boarded but not graded. If I was to pull the trigger on just one, it would be The Incredible Hulk 181. I’m no pro grader but I’d guess it to be between a CGC 6.5-7.5. Some ticks along the spine, bottom right corner is very slightly worn, ie a bit rounded, not sharp. What do you think?

Ur not cool and edgy for hating on something popular and successful. Joker was a good film, not a masterpiece, but good. The performance from Phoenix is amazing (even tho he was better in The Master and Her), the score is haunting, the cinematography is great, the set design is very good, and the soundtrack is excellent. Yes, the screenplay is very mediocre, the story is underdeveloped, predictable, and cliche, the characters are also underdeveloped, one dimensional, and useless, and the film is kinda shallow and doesn’t have anything important, deep, or complex to say. However, I don’t feel like this is a King of Comedy or Taxi Driver rip off. Yes, Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy are cinematic masterpieces and definitely better than Joker, but I don’t feel that they have a shit ton in common. Yes, I agree that the films are quite similar. Joker has the atmosphere of Taxi Driver and the plot of The King of Comedy, but aside from that, they are completely different. Therefore, my ratings for all 3 films would be Taxi Driver: 10/10-In the top 10 greatest films ever made The King of Comedy: 9.5/10-Still a masterpiece and probs in the top 50-100 best films of all time Joker 7.5/10-Good film and in the top 20 of 2019 Just my opinion, let me know if you agree or disagree
