Far North Dancers is a small dance group in Tromsø.
Our dance style, FatChanceBellyDance®Style, is a "World Dance" style.
FCBD®S is a mix of Spanish, Indian and arabic dance mooves.
The music we dance to, can be Norwegian, Saami, African, Indian, Spanish, Icelandic, Irish, or whatever suits the event we dance for.
Far North Dancers was founded november 2023.

"Blend In"
"Blend In" er et prosjekt vi har hatt gående, der vi matcer navnene på stegene vi danser, til plassen vi danser på (omgivelsene).
Vi har danset "Circle Step" og "Round House" i "Ardna", på UiT.
Vi har danset forskjellige versjoner av "Balancing Step" i Tromsø Turnhall, der Tromsø Turnforening hadde trening. Tusen takk for at dere var så sporty å stille opp og turne i bakgrunnen!
Og sist, men ikke minst, danset vi "Barrel Turn" og "Corkscrew Turn" inne på "Full Steam" sitt "Sjøfarts og Fiskerimuseum", med tønner på alle kanter.
Etter siste Corkscrew Turn lurte vi på om vi fikk litt for mye Møllers Tran...

I år valgte vi musikken fra "Tre nøtter til Askepott" og "Sleight Ride" som vår jule-danse-musikk. Vi danset på to steder samme dag: I Rødbanken (hvor Husflidslaget hadde julemesse) og på "Juleglede markedet" på Havneterminalen. Her er en liten mix fra begge plassene.

"Kvensk language-day" at "Norges Arktiske Universitetsmuseum", Tromsø. We made our dance a language-challenge. The audience got to give us orders, by holding up posters with step names in Kvensk language. They was really choreographing our dance. Thanks to Anna-Riitta Lindgren for helping us translate the words. Music: Olena, by Drumspyder.

Kvensk Språkdag ble markert på Tromsø Museum 28.04.2024, med dans og foredrag. Vi danset til denne nydelige, Kvenske sangen. Først inne, før foredraget og deretter utenfor museet. Etter foredraget hadde vi også en "danse-språk-lek". Teksten til den Kvenske sangen hadde vi fått hjelp til å oversette til norsk, av Jorunn Gjermundsen (Tusen takk, Jorunn). Last year we did a series of videos that we called "Mind your Step". We were trying to match up our dance steps with our surroundings. "Strong Arm" and "Pulse Turn" in a Boxing Club, "Up two, Down three" and "Duet Pasing" in a escalator and "Spinns" and "Propellor Turn" in front of an airplane. This was so much fun, we are going to do something simmilar this year :) #MyfcbdTroupeTales #fcbdstyle
