I Will - Katerina Gimon
"I Will" is a moving tribute to all those whose lives have been touched by memory loss and dementia. Inspired by personal stories and shared experiences, this work takes listeners on a journey through the myriad of complex emotions felt when caring for a loved one experiencing memory loss, beautifully capturing the fragility of memory and the resilience of love.

It was an honor being able to perform this powerfully touching song for its premiere, as well as getting to work with you in rehearsal! I know a lot of the guys (myself included) had trouble holding back tears every time we rehearsed it, and if you look closely enough, you'll see a few of us in tears by the end of the video. Personally, this song takes me back to remembering my dad's last days in the hospital. Although he did not have dementia, he suffered similar conditions of memory loss during his battle with cancer, and my family went through many of the same trials and emotions as the song portrays. Thank you so much for writing this piece and allowing us to perform it in collaboration with the Knolls. Love & Honor!
Thank you Katerina the composition brought me back to the moments I wrote it 😭😭. It’s beautiful thank you mom would approve ❤
Mother has arrived ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a beautiful song. Truly the meaning of love. Thank you.
I’m just in love with Water! it’s so flowy like a river.
This kinda Ngl gives me some alien vibes I might use this for my novel called Realm War this is explained in 2 paragraphs In the year 2060, Adam, his friends, and family took an early summer vacation on a space cruiser but mysterious light rays or auroras from distant stars cause mare to unleash motherships from a portal on Mars, they disengaged smaller motherships to destroy the most populated cities. Humans rage firepower at the invaders but were helpless due to technology. Adam seeks refuge in Area 52 with officials and General Alexander Oppenheimer only to have a ufo crash on the base making Adam to steal the doomsday plane, but goes to Las Vegas for an emergency landing and meeting a rich man named Joshua. When they reached Japan, Adam reunites with his Japanese friend and Chinese dad but only to remain with him before he dies in his sleep. The navy takes the characters only to find out that Adam’s Chinese family hates him where quad-pods attack the USS ThunderChild. When Joshua, Adam, and Gemma were on a yacht, the new couple get abducted by aliens but they meet a leader named Renenutet who reveals her ambitious plan. She then only leaves Adam with Joshua on a deserted tropical island. A One World Military, newly formed, attacks the aliens once more only to find out that they are fighting over power causing Renenutet to lead a remaining fleet to genocide. Alexander tells Adam on the island that Renenutet kidnapped his girlfriend, and is revealed to be Adams father. and wants to take his own life to kill Renenutet. When Adam and Alexander got abducted, Dwane joins the fight only to be left dying. A solar discharge causes ships to get destroyed. Adam then gets the refugees where Dwane nukes her vessel. Half of Humanity is wiped out but the sun rises bringing peace on the Earth…
my high schools chamber choir performed fire at our last event and i have been in love with this collection ever since
My school’s Madrigal choir performed Fire to accompany our theatre department’s performance of Titus Andronicus. I’ve been obsessed since I heard it! I’m definitely going to ask my teacher to let us perform it- and hopefully the other movements, too- for our choir competitions this spring. Here’s to hoping!
I did a high school All-County Chorus where Fire was performed, and I loved it! I saw that you had other pieces, and I wanted to see what they were like, I was not disappointed. These pieces are a work of art!
I wanna be part of this. Im in France. Tell me how.
Everyone always talks about Fire, but seriously, Water is absolutely amazing! It certainly has so much power and it is similar to Earth in someways which is also why Earth is so ethereal and beautiful. My elements according to astrology are 90% earth and water so I have a soft spot for both songs. Katerina, I really appreciate these beautiful works!
This is beautiful. Every single one. My teacher showed this to our class, and I love it so much. The fact you were about to show the feeling of each element, without even using words, is incredible! Earth is calm and stable, air is just so immersive, fire is energetic, and water shows beauty and flow. I’ve never felt so much while listening to a piece. Thank you for putting this out!
Wow! Thank you for sharing...so wonderful to hear this impact this piece has had on you <3
where can we find out where this astonishing work is being performed??? I HAVE to hear it live :) 🥰
(I've never studied music or anything) but i love how the lower voices compliment the higher ones in this piece. It just creates this beautiful image in my mind
I love the piano throughout. I think my favourite song is the last one. You truly have a gift
Came here after listening to elements and I literally have goosebumps. This is beautiful and you are marvellous composer
I did a bit of a stumble over social media, and am so glad this is where I landed (it may have taken a few months to find you though). I’ve loved all of the choir compositions I’ve been fortunate enough to hear by you, thank you for sharing your creativity!
I've always been more sensitive with music and after listening to the whole piece I'm sobbing. I can't describe this in any way other than saying I just had a religious experience. As an agnostic skeptical little idiot, I cannot explain how I felt listening to Water. Music is truly something beautiful and bigger than anything in the universe to me.
Wow, thank you!
i loved this composition the first time i listened to it... but the water song is the one for me ♡♡
We are doing fire for wyoming all state choir this year I’m very exited
Incredible
I’m literally in love! U are also on Spotify?
Wow, thanks! Yes, you can find me on Spotify here: open.spotify.com/artist/4z3cbbAitf5LnoY4jGpi6K
I heard fire on tik tok and had to find the rest! I absolutely love this and it feels like it's doing great things to my ears and my mind! Thank you for creating this beautiful masterpiece! I hope to perform this one day in choir!
This is wildly amazing. Bless you for crafting this!
What was the inspiration for this? Is it an original piece? Nature spirits? Ancient teachings? Just came to you? It’s powerful I can tell you this. I’m not sure what your beliefs are and I don’t judge any unless they use their power to do unnecessary and unjust harm but this is very powerfully moving feels natural. Tied to the powers of the soul and to earth. Amazing. Druidic?
Hi! I wrote Elements back in 2013 when I was in school - so my goal was more of a compositional creative one at the time: I wanted to create something that at once explored the bounds of the human voice and could convey an image or idea (in this case each classical element) without using any words - just through the music itself. I had also started studying improvisation around this time and was exploring using my voice in a more "instrumental" way...so that also influenced my writing of this work :) P.s. If you're interested to hear more, I dive into a bit more detail on this in my interview on the "Getting the Song Out" podcast!
@@katgimon thank you for responding. I’m a bit of a vocalist myself I guess I’ll admit I have a range that extends from hard core metal animal screams to almost monk Chant lows If I warm up properly. I love music of most genres as long as there’s talent and effort involved. It is a beautiful piece. I’m a bit of a spiritual scatter brain was raised Christian but I actually sought out all of the removed portions of the Bible and stopped participating in the faith because I felt cheated. Completely different message with the other half included. I’m also deeply interested in elemental magic and some Norse runic practices. I’ve had an interesting go of life for sure. Lots of unique experiences. I can appreciate the earthy very visceral nature of your work it brings up a very natural state of connection to the earth feeling in different ways. I agree words aren’t necessary when you are tuned in to the right frequency. You can just be. Like instinct like a feeling of being part of what we’ve lost or separated ourselves from in order to become slaves to the dollar and plaything’s for greedy evil unnatural men. The thing about works like yours is they for me at least remind me that no matter how far humanity has tried to run from our nature and betray our instinctive behavior and drives we are still bound and connected to the earth and that connection needs to not only be respected but exercised. I was slightly confused that the dedication said it was performed in a church not that it’s bad just that usually churches frown upon anything that pays homage to the more elemental earth bound energies. Interested in a curious way would be more accurate. Anyway I wont write the next great American novel. Again thank you for your effort and sharing your art with the world it definitely improved my day greatly and calmed my usually bombarded and lately irritable mind. I’ll have to check out the podcast I think you said. Thanks again for writing back I don’t experience much common courtesy these days so it’s greatly appreciated.
This sounds a lot like Orange Tesla by Kanye West. I love Orange Tesla and I love this because it sounds like Orange Tesla, my favorite song.
This absolutely has to be one of my favorite pieces ever composed. It's haunting, gorgeous, and it evokes so much emotion. I am having to this is nothing short of visceral.
Just saw Fire performed by a girls choir and I was sobbing
Came here because of the fire clip, reminds of the more ancestral stuff that Cochamea has put out
I have to ask, where did you pull your inspiration for this from?? It sounds like a Viking war chant but also from Native American sound as well but also weirdly reminds me of Romani and Arabic.
Hi Hannah! I wrote Fire and the set that it's part of (Elements) back in 2013 while I was in school and still very early in my writing journey. So my goal in writing Elements was more of a compositional one at the time - to convey an image or idea (in this case, each Element) to listeners without using any actual text/words, just using music and exploring the wide range of capabilities of the human voice. For Fire, for example, I was really thinking witches brew ;) You can hear me chat more about my approach to Fire iand the set as a whole in this interview here: ruclips.net/video/uS3srn8EGCQ/видео.html
Fire has become insane on TT you are an amazing composer 🎼 thank you 🙏 and yes this is uniting a lot of women in America now.
Your music makes me long to sing in a choir again.
Katerina - as someone who went to the Berklee College of Music and YEARNED for original music. Please continue your genius
This is my first time hearing the piece entirely but I’m so glad I came to listen to it. I honestly wish I could hear it in person, but what I’ve gathered from it is what I assume you meant it to be in the first place. To me, the earth sounds calm but still moving and ever changing, shifting like tectonic plates; the wind starts as a soft breeze and then builds and grows into a howling storm; the fire starts as something contained yet angry that then builds and erupts into a blaze that eventually subsides; the water starts like an ice cap, melting and the water winds through rivers and streams as it travels to the ocean. Overall, it’s just a gorgeous and phenomenal piece.
Very beautiful!
i love the use of polyphonic overtone in earth. each one of these pieces just strikes a chord deep in my soul. i love it.
I am so glad that I stumbled across Fire on tiktok because I have never had such a physical and emotional reaction to a piece before. Katarina, this collection is phenomenal and I applaud your work
Wow, thank you Gabriella!
same same same. I am stunned and captivated xx
I appreciate the organization of this piece so well done 💕💕💕💕💕
I'm gonna write a book about warrior women, and Fire was my inspiration. I kept searching and found the entire elements. My brain is going into overdrive from so much inspiration and ideas 😅
Wow, what an honour! <3
@@katgimon I'm not a full fledged writer yet.. and english isn't even my first language hahaha! I hope my story will do your amazing work proud
Splendid work, great channeling
Amazing!! Thank you for sharing your gift!
this is incredible and so so powerful. i performed a path to hope last year with my school choir and i came across this song on tiktok, and it just blew me away; you're so talented and it would be absolutely amazing to be able to perform this piece someday
I have likened this to a life cycle. We are all a part of Mother Earth. With the air breathing life that fuels the fires in us. And the healing balm of water to give us peace. Well done ❤️
LOVE the overtones in earth AAH, also that first melody in water sounds so familiar?? i'd be interested to see if its inspired something else or vice versa
It reminds me of the music in Mulan idk if that’s what your thinking tho
Do the lyrics in fire mean anything? Or are they inspired by anything? Or are they just there to sound really cool? Just curious
There are no real 'words'. What you're hearing is a series of vocables (nonsense syllables) I created through improvisation to evoke the energy and vigour of Fire :)
Overtone singing has always fascinated me, and this is incredible.
Glad I found your page
Stunning. Chilling. Entrancing. I keep coming back to listen again.
Your song brought death to enemies thx for providing battle music
I heard the part III "Fire" on social networks, sung by a women's choir. I was eager to hear the full piece. This is wonderful!
