Reading Bible Narratives: Reading Responsibly
Просмотров 16Месяц назад
Context. Without proper context it can be exceedingly difficult to understand what the Bible is talking about. At times we as people tend to take a snap shot of the Bible, just a small passage and try to ascertain what it could mean. When we do this, we miss out on the greater story and the context that it provides. It’s always best to read the whole story so that you can understand everything ...

The Literature Of The Bible Narratives
God did not “come up” with the ultimate solution, like everything else He tried failed. It was His plan from eternity.
A god cannot be human at the same time! It’s like saying a square circle!
A god didn’t become a human. The only God took on human flesh and became the God-Man, dual nature, one being. It’s called the hypostatic union. Google it.
@@Psylliumhead god-man? The more you talk, the more you sound pagan! Can god who’s limitless.. limit himself by “taking on human flesh”?? that’s the definition of paradox! It’s like asking can god create a rock so heavy, he can’t lift it? You’re just repeating the church doctrines & heresies. If you open up the Bible, you’ll see that Jesus Christ peace be upon said *“the father is greater than I”* in John 14:28 which means he was only a human chosen by god almighty to guide people to the right path. A prophet! What is the first commandment again? *” “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”* , but here you are having Jesus Christ peace be upon him as a god besides the father the almighty! God says in the Quran 04:171 *” O People of the Book! Do not go to extremes regarding your faith; say nothing about Allah except the truth.1 The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of Allah and the fulfilment of His Word through Mary and a spirit ˹created by a command˺ from Him.2 So believe in Allah and His messengers and do not say, “Trinity.” Stop!-for your own good. Allah is only One God. Glory be to Him! He is far above having a son! To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs.”*
That's not what he's referring to.. He's not referring to an actual needle.. He's referring to the gates of cities in ancient times.. They were called the eye of the needle. They were only intended for pedestrians on foot to get through. Getting a camel through the eye of the needle required it to shed its load, Bend, bow its head and crawl through the gate.. The parable isn't about the rich never being able to make it through, everyone can. If they ask for forgiveness, bow their heads and pray to God..
WORSHIP GOD, MIND, SOUL AND SPIRIT. AMEN. ❤
Just as ge told the woman at the well, "go and sin no more". Sola Fide is a false and heretical doctrine. Faith without works is dead. You actually have to follow Christ, not just "believe". Peace be with you!
I had a pastor who told me that the average pastor only prays 15 minutes a day.
How does planting a church and creating a place for Christians to have their club meetings where they sit around and self. Congratulate and plot how to harm and cause destruction to american fr Civil liberties and freedoms possibly be a Beacon of hope to the lost? If anything, it would be a sign of the extravagance of the wealthy and their willingness and interested in concentrating their wealth To flaunt it. We all know that no Christian organization on planet Earth. Legitimately provides any help to anyone without forcing the recipient of such help To have a heaping truck load of religious horse crap crammed down them in exchange for a bologna and white bread sandwich. We see you by your love christians. We certainly see you by your love. Is military intelligence is equivalent to christian love in its level of oxymoronic absurdity. I guess what you're planting is hope for the lost that you will be able to find them. Manipulate them and consume them in the name of your death cult.
Wow! Its obvious Thomas Merton has highly influenced that professor. His observations were functionally esoteric with an attempt toward exoteric. Which is why it was a bit difficult to follow, but then that's Philosophy. Yeshua and Judaism is highly active and attached to practical things in the world which is why parables were commonly used. Still pretty darn on point. I was stunned to hear him bring up the Zohar. Tim Keller is not a source I use at all. I find Keller's theology to be very supersessionistic and often developed through tradition and doctrine, rather than from scripture. Still, I get what the professor was trying to point out. And I like his shirt a lot. Mister Rogers was a great man with a simple message. If I didn't know Mister Rogers was ordained as a presbyterian minister I'd think he was Jewish. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with a "pastor" who called on others to share and for active involvement. (These offices of Evangelicalism are a pet peeve of mine. The leaders of the Ekklesias within Judaism were Elders and Deacons not "Pastors.") Instructions, or teachings, are exactly what the Mizvot, what Christians call commandments, are in nature. Unbelievable, an evangelical Christian quoting a Rabbinic Commentator…in a sermon…I've never …wow! This sermon is by far the closest I've ever heard in an evangelical setting to the historical, sociological, literary, theological and religious context of scripture. The fact he used the mini Torah, Leviticus 19, to focus Yeshua's words was exceptional. Keep going! You are almost there. His discussion of boiling one's focus and praxis down was and is very a common practice in Judaism. One very popular story is about a gentile who approached Rabbi Shammai and said to him: “Convert me but teach me the entire Torah as I stand on one foot.” Shammai got mad and chased him away with a stick. This gentile then approached Rabbi Hillel with the same offer/request but was met with a very different reaction-Hillel agreed. The entire Torah on one foot that Hillel taught him was “that which you hate, don’t do to others. That is the entire Torah,” Hillel told him, “the rest is commentary. Go and learn it!” One final thought. Love is a very actionable word in scripture. You will be hard pressed to not find it in context with other verbs. I am truly blessed to have found this video. Shalom!
