Not so Adjustable Now! Ryvid Anthem Seat Actuator Mod
I've put in almost 800 miles on my Anthem and so far, it's been almost perfect! The only problem: When I got it, the adjustable seat was stuck at the lowest position. After some back-and-forth with Ryvid support I came up with my own solution, replacing the actuator with a solid support bar from a local metalwork shop. My seat isn't adjustable now, but it's locked at the max height which is where I wanted it anyways!

    Being inseam challenged LOL, I would most likely have the seat at the bottom. As much a I appreciate the ability to adjust seat height electrically, it's just another possible point of failure as you have shown. Your solution is the best! Ryvid may want to consider the option of just selling seat rods at one-inch length increments in the future. I had an R6 back in the day and changed the seat height with an aftermarket dog bone. You may want to patent this!

    Just got a Summit - definitely agree regarding the gearing on the bike - stock you will need to use the throttle on longer steeper hills. Swapping the chainring and cassette would likely help with this, but as configured I can't do more than 5-6mph up a steep hill unless I use the throttle. That said, the Summit absolutely flies on flats with slight rolling hills and would leave the Ramblas in the dust. I tried a Ramblas at a dealer, and it is much better on the climb compared to the Summit and is certainly closer to a true eMTB. Which is better depends on the riding you like to do.

      Thank you! Considering how gnarly that trail was, full suspension would have been nice 😅 I bent the saddle on the Ramblas pretty badly, although I'd attribute that more to my lack of skill than any fault of the bike. Personally though I'm fine with it being a hardtail, at least for now. Planning to do a lot more riding on it so we'll see how I feel a few months down the line...

    How long is the life of a bike battery before you have to replace it?

    • @ElectronRiderTech
      @ElectronRiderTech 2 месяца назад

      Typically maximum capacity will degrade to 70% in 2-3 years. It will usually still work fine after that, but range and maximum power are a lot less. It also depends on use and care. Non-removable batteries like this to tend to degrade faster because they are often left out in the elements, extreme heat and cold are very rough on lithium ion cells 😬

    • @ElectronRiderTech
      @ElectronRiderTech 2 месяца назад

      No problem! For this bike, you’d need a shop mechanic to do it - ideally an Iconic Ebikes dealer. Any experienced repair shops would be able to, but they’d have to get the replacement battery from Iconic since it’s fairly unique to this frame. It would still be possible to do if Iconic was no longer in business, but more difficult. There are third-party companies that do “battery re-packing” where they replace the cells, and can work with any type of Ebike battery.

    Very nice review, I am exact same height as you (195cm is 6ft3 right?) and I borrowed it from a friend for 2 days. The thing I am worried about, is it being an unknown brand, being so cheap and no customer service, and very low quality tires, that I get stranded like 50 miles from home... So I would get range anxiety anyway haha. In my country no bicycle repair shop wants to touch fatbikes, and I definately won't be putting on a new tire in the rear myself 🤣 Would love for you to review the Himiway Big Dog, which is first on my list atm... They should have 2 models a "Papasmrf" with saddle bags and a "Smrfette" ladies bike with a suspension seat post and different colours. They would clean up. Here's the problem. Let's compare my cheepo Gotrax EBE8 compared to this bike for about $750 USD roughly compared to the $2300 SMRFS bike. My bike with a slightly larger battery is 52lbs with the 15amp battery so it's even easier to go on a bike rack especially if you take the battery off. It has 2.4 inch wide tires which is almost the same as the 3.0 inch but even less rolling resistance. My bike has a cadence sensor so there are 5 PAS speeds effectively instead of a torque sensor. After buying a $20 unlocked display it bumped the speed up to 23mph. The throttle will go right up there with you pedaling without limiting the speed without overriding the pedals or throttle. Mine has a cruise control that is manually operated with holding down the minus key. I've ridden this bike in literally tropical torrential downpours and down to -10C on salted roads and it's totally fine and rust free. I get an honest 40 miles of range throttle only(yes I tested it) out of the 500w, 750w peak motor. I've recently put a 52v 15amp battery on there so I'll probably get 45 miles of range instead of 25-30 they claim on their website. So if my bike can do 90% of what this bike can do(with longer range). Other than it being obviously nicer, nicer display, torque sensor, paint, slightly faster etc. Is it worth just over 3 times what my bike is worth? Is it 3 times nicer? The problem with these monikers of "Purpose built" "built specifically for X". I've been a computer tech for over 25 years and it basically boils down to "Let's fleece more money out of people that don't know any better". The only thing "Purpose built" about this ebike should be, to be an ebike. I'm sure if you looked around you could buy an elevating bike rack somewhere. In fact a 2 min search of google I found one, for $835. So for a little more than this bike is selling for you can get TWO of my bikes(one for you and the wifey) AND the elevating rack. Be careful guys. I have 11,000kms on my bike and all I've had to do is change the rear wheel bearings and re-grease the planetary gears at 7500kms. Still drives great and it's a "budget" bike. In fact it gets driven 30kms every day to work.

    • @ElectronRiderTech
      @ElectronRiderTech 6 месяцев назад

      It depends on where and what I'm riding. My city has good biking infrastructure and culture, so I feel pretty safe in most areas here. I also have good defensive riding instincts, and professional training in how to fall and roll safely. Even so, I still strap on a helmet whenever I ride higher speed vehicles, or when I venture out to narrower roads in the foothills or ride in other cities. I used to always wear a helmet in my reviews, mostly to set a good example and encourage more people to wear them. I still think it's a good idea for most people, but at the end of the day I support people having the autonomy to choose their own risk level.

I turned the bike upside down and loosened the two bolts for the brake just a little bit and then I spun the wheel. I kind of moved the break left and right until the rubbing stopped and then I carefully tightened up both bolts while still maintaining pressure on the break to make sure it wasn't still rubbing. I had to do that a couple of different times on both wheels until I got it perfect but it's doable.

      I'll definitely agree with you there! No such thing as "too big" when it comes to capacity and range. They just gotta figure out how to make them more lightweight first 😱

      I have an ebike with a miles smaller battery and is really heavy ..Was getting a lot of punctures with the 26x4 tires .. with the weight of the bike you reviewed must be prone to punctures you reckon ?

    The bike is sweet but it is extremely expensive. Would literally take me 3 to 5 years to even afford just only one of that.

    Hello 👋, do you know what exactly the difference is between the 48v and the 52v versions, I am looking for max range to commute to and from work.

      52V will have higher capacity, battery capacity in watt-hours is calculated by volts * amp-hours.

    Is this the same Blaupunkt company that makes stereo equipment? 😊

      Yes, same company! From my understanding they don't make stereo equipment anymore, they went bankrupt awhile back and are now under new management.

      @Bobster986 That's exactly what I thought. I guess everyone is jumping on the PEV bandwagon lately. 👍

    Thank you for doing the review showing it's performance on that very light off road path, where the suspension bottomed out. Would you reach out to the brand offering I think can handle off road paths a lot better but still offers great range at a 35 Ah battery and much more power with a 2,000 watt motor for less than 1400.00 USD.
