Tribute to Charlie
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.4 года назад
On Saturday 25th July 2020 we heard the very sad news of the passing of our dear friend and band member Charlie O'Neill. I had the pleasure of doing sound for Charlie on many occasions, he was a gentleman, a friend, a fellow Dub, a living jukebox and a pleasure to be with. This is a short musical tribute to Charlie. RIP my friend you will never be forgotten.

Thank you for this post. A most interesting history. A member of my family was transferred to the 1st Btn RDF from the Notts and Derby Regiment in 1917 to make up for their heavy losses. He was killed on the 24th April 1917 in the Arras area where he is commemorated.

Hi Joe. It was a harrowing experience they all went through with many not surviving like John Fox. At least we can remember them and keep their memory alive. Tom
Hi I’m a Davis from New Zealand. My family took a ship from England to here many years ago. I have a book somewhere stating exactly which.

@@tinadavis43 Hi Tina. Davis is a common name in Wales but there have been a lot of Davis' here in Ireland going back to the 1700's. What DNA platform are you on and I will see if there are any links. Tom

If there is anyone who could help it would really help greatly as both of them my father and mother and grandparents on both sides are now all passed away but me and my other brothers and sisters are still alive but soon to be senior citizens ourselves.
Blessed am a Davis but am from Jamaica and am Black?
Hi Tom, very well done for a wonderful family history series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a Dublin Davis. My Gr Grandfather was John Davis who lived in Greenore Tce in 1901, and Liberty Lane Dublin in 1911. He was born in c1855 but I can't find a birth record. He had 11 children William Thomas, Anne Elizabeth, Jane, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary Susan, Isabel, John, George Albert, Mabel Edith, Robert. I'd love to connect our trees!
Hi David. I am delighted you enjoyed my videos. Do you have a family tree on any of the major family history sites such as Ancestry, FindMyPast or MyHeritage so that we might seek out any family links. Tom
Would Bridget Davis change her last name or some her Sons Last name after this Tom ?
Hi Jody. Brigit married Patrick Duffy in 1921 and gave rise to the Duffy branch of our family. They had three sons and two daughters.
@@tomdavis8957 Ok thanks Tom ! Have you tracked any Davis in your Family to Arkansas in the US
@@jodydavis161 None to Arkansas but a few to the East Coast mainly New York and Philadelphia

Hello Tom, Michael Davis down here in Swords. At the turn of the 19th/20 Century my clan seem to have been in Bridge Street, The Hollow and ended up on Main Street, must have won a few bob! Enjoyed your videos. Is mise le meas Micheal Daibhis.
Hi Michael. Thanks for leaving a message and I am glad you are enjoying the videos. A number of us have been trying to link the Portrane / Swords Davis families without success. Have you by any chance done a family tree as it would be interesting to compare notes. Tom
Tom not personally, but a cousin of mine has been far more active than I have. Interestingly, my late Father (Thomas) was always spoke about a Donabate/Portrane connection. What is the best way to contact you and I will advise her. Best wishes. Michael
Would your cousin happen to be a Lambert or a Lawlor. Tom
Tom, you're on the ball yes a Lambert. The dad used to tell me about a Great Northern Railway connection and the big house (Maybe Newbridge House) also used to mention a "Duff" connection? Not sure if this rings a bell. Having listening about Bridget's background of trade unionism and republicanism is there any connection with a William Davis who died in the Spanish Civil War, who's name is on a plaque in Liberty Hall.
@@michaeldavis1716 Hi Michael. If you send your email address to webmaster@johnnycasey.ie I will pick it up securely and contact you to fill you in on the family history. Tom
My Dad is actually William Davis III so I'm starting to think my tribe comes from Ireland as opposed to Wales.
I bet we may be kin just contact me
Hi Terri. What part of the world do your family come from. Tom
Yet another Davis here in the US. I've tried to do a bunch of research about my family line but hit an interesting snag. Looking back I found my ancestors were actually slaves in N. Carolina before the American Civil War and now I'm not sure if the name was passed down through blood or if it was adopted from my ancestor's owners.
Rest in peace Charlie, you were a gentleman.
I am davis from 🇯🇲 jamaica and i like to know more
Me too
I am davis aswell and i am from Jamaica
My father was a Davis, I’ve been researching my family tree and my dna states I’m from areas over there. I can’t be more specific as my app isn’t working 😣
I'm a Davis & you resemble the same facial features as my father! Very interesting!! Chefatiba@yahoo.com
I also am a Davis in U.S.A. !! My dad's name was also Tom . I figured we from England, since I talked with another Davis who researched the name and traced us back to England !!
My name is John Davis (Johnny Marshall Davis is my full name) Benjamin Franklin Davis, born in 1898, was my grandfather He married Hattie Angeline Frady, who was 3/4 Cherokee They had 9 children .....Marshall (my father), James, Pressley, Eva, Belle, Mary, Judy, Princess, Patricia I don't know if any of this fits into your research. Maybe we're distant cousins.
Thank you for doing this work, Tom...perhaps we are related!
Got to know a lot about my family...
That’s fab Tom beautiful tribute to an obviously much loved musician and friend
love his singing and johnny
John Davis who migrated to Penn is my great great grandfather. We're related to Rhoderi and Priece. My family lives in CO, FL, and KS
Hi Johnathan, nice to make contact with you. I have not come across a link to Bailey, Rhoderi or Priece in my family history links so maybe you could let me know which branch of the family from John Davis you are descended from.
@@tomdavis8957 Yeah man! So John married a woman with an original surname of 'Morgan.' I would send a post to Priece Morgan in Swansea. He heads the history department at the University there. My grandfather with the last name of Bailey married my grandmother, who had the last name of Davis. There are many of the same lineage of Davis' living in Colorado due to the gold rush.
Hello friend why am I whatching this
Sir my name is Derrick Lynn Davis I'd like to correspond if you'd oblige me sir I'm from kentucky USA I'd like to learn of my family.i heard we are of cynfin an mar edudd line
Thank you for this! John Davis was my great grandfather. Lottie P was my fathers mother. Lottie married William Ethridge and had 4 children. Jeffrey, Patricia, John and James. We don’t know very much of the family history and this was awesome to learn. Thank you again.
Hi Jeremy Thank you for your wonderful comments and it was an absolute pleasure to do the story on your Great Grandfather and highlight his "experiences" in WWI. It was also a joy for me to be reunited with your Great Grandfather's family and did close a loop for the Davis family here in Ireland. You can find out a lot more about our Davis family through the other videos on my channel and I hope they give you further insight into our rich family history. Kind Regards Tom
Hi John! I would love to get in contact with you- John Davis was my great-grandfather and Lottie was my grandmother. We have limited knowledge of this side of the family and I’d love to learn more! My email address is jenngreer@yahoo.com. Please reach out!!

Same here. Im in the States and we cant seem to find any info on where in the Isles we originated from. Ive been told Scotland, the internet tells me Wales or Wales via Ireland. Good luck
Thank you Tom for this wonderful and amazing story about John Davis! Scott Davis shared the video with me, and I posted it on the Phoenixville facebook group page, "you know you're Phoenixville when"
Well done Tom, another excellent chapter of the Davis family
That was just brilliant Tom, thank you so much. I presume John Davis must have been my grand uncle?
That is correct Pete

Great stuff Tom, George Davis, even though he never talked about his experiences would be proud of your efforts in telling his story Pete Duffy
Thanks Pete. Every story needs a voice and the sacrifices that these men made need to be remembered.Tom
