Love it! Man those Acuras can roll on and on and on and on! Hate that people steal cats. Is it worth it to protect the new MDX from those types of theft?
@cgonedfishing the best deterrent that I know of is to weld a thick steel cable to the exhaust and cat. There isnt anything thats really going to stop theft but it will deter some and slow down others. Those steel cables are rough to cut through.
Thank you

Throw a sleepy joe in there lol im kidding and my stuff is stuck
Whats a sleepy joe? Which end is stuck? I had one stuck so bad once I had to remove the other side axle and went through the transmission with a prybar and poped it out that way.
At 5:45, you put up text that there is a missing 14mm third bolt behind the plenum. This bolt is incredibly difficult to see or access and has to be done blindly. Please correct it to say it's a 12 mm bolt because I wasted over 2 hours trying to get that bolt off. It's very difficult to put a standard size ratchet on due to no clearance. I couldn't understand why the bolt wasn't backing off with a 14.
Thanks for the tip, this will help others. The stock bolt is a 14mm like the others so yours may have been replaced before possibly. Its an easy bolt to drop behind the engine.
Thanks man!

I was such a lazy SOB. On the top of my strut pulling those top 3 bolts I shoved my electric ratchet and deep socket up in each one of those and ran them out and then back in on the new preloaded one. It was a nightmare getting the ratchet in and out but was only two short nightmares instead of that one long SOB in the back. You could have removed the air filter box above and gone through there but that is a headache too. Oh and I also lost the damn upper cross arm nut in the black hole that is my frame! Had to go to the dealer down the street to get that. On the passenger side I also shaved a bit of that plastic away with a dremel around the bolts and went in through the top.
@rickharris8780 Thanks for the tips!
Another great video. Came here looking for how to remove the PCV valve. Is this recommended to be replaced every so often? Do you have to remove the silver colored cover to access it?
@mountainbiker4450 I was always taught to shake it, if the ball doesn't rattle or move then replace it. Ive been able to swap them without lifting the intake but I also have small hands.
@@MegaMilesBen Thanks. I was looking at my old one which I almost 100% sure is factory original. I noted a few threads are exposed meaning the old one was not bottomed out. Is this typical or did you screw yours in until it bottomed out?
@mountainbiker4450 itll get tight, youll feel it. Its very typical for a few threads to be showing. Its common with some sensors too, like oil pressure sensors, knock sensors and such. Nothing to worry about.
Great detailed video thanks for sharing

Thank you Ben! A question: is it ok to use a little contact cement on the new gaskets on the valve cover side to hold them in place, so they don't slip when you put the valve cover back on? Or are there chemicals in the contact cement that can damage the new gasket?
@Jim5150jvc you should always use a dry gasket. You might be able to use a very small amount of a tacky gasket sealant if absolutely necessary.
you have to set distributor timing afterwards correct?
@uzileopard6199 Ive never had to? As long as everything is set to tdc, theres shouldnt be any issues.
@ dang, we set TDC, even did 2 manual revolutions before putting everything back together and upon start up mine was great and then about a minute later bogging down heavily and almost dying before jumping back to life. so im guessing a tooth off. is there any quick way to adjust or have to go back through this big journey?
@uzileopard6199 if the belts off, youll need to go back in and reset it.
@@MegaMilesBen fixed the issue, runs good now
The front ones are 150-210$ for a pre assembled strut compared to just a shock in back
There monroew can get at Walmart CT napa lordco all the places about 60$ ish for a cobalt
Usually they spring back out new like faster than trying to put bolt back in:(
I purchased one last year and got it fully charged right the way and let it sit there with out recharging for 6 months. Then I used it to jump start a Toyota SUV with a drained battery with no problem at all. I recommend it with no reservation.
@paulng6126 I returned this one and got another. Its been doing much better and I made another review.
Rc control arms holding up? I'm looking to do conversion
@jasonwyles9952 this is a clients truck. I talk with him often, he hasnt had any complaints that Ive heard of yet.
Thanks so much for the video, the only issue I'm having is on my 2002 Toyota sienna the throttle body won't really move much, I got everything off but now I'm having issues lining the 3 throttle body holes back up where it won't move much at all. Is there something else u took loose from it other than the 3 bolts
@jodylane9889 no, you may need to disconnect the coolant lines if you cant get enough room. If thats the case, pinch off the coolant lines so it only leaks whats in the throttle body.
@@MegaMilesBenthanks, there was a stabilizer bar hooked to the backside of this one, removed it and was able to move the throttle body pretty freely
@@jodylane9889 awesome!
Hey, Ben!! Thanks for another video!! Quick question. What brand torque wrench do you use? Like how they are set out on your workbench, ready to go.
@SleepysAutomotive the ones I use in my shop are Kolbalt. At home, I actually use the Harbor Freight brand. Both brands have done great for me. Big price difference though, you can usually get coupons for HF brand for 19.99 each.
@MegaMilesBen Thanks,Ben!!
I guess idiots on RUclips don’t tell you the proper torque specs anymore.
Thanks for the review; I have had the corded grinder for three years now, and it's still going as new. I'm moving from Dewalt to Hercules power tools, just wished they were sold in a package form like the others.
@tompresley639 sign up for harbor freights coupon mailer. They have deals all the time where like if you buy a charger and battery, youll get 2 free tools, or sometimes if you buy the tool youll get a battery/charger kit and other simular coupons like that. I also am a member so they also give you more discounts that way too. The membership pays for itself in discounts for sure. Thanks for watching!
Is it 74ft lbs for all 4 of the control arms and all 6 bolt / nut attachment points? In other words, is it the same torque spec where the arms attach to the knuckle and where the arms attach to the middle subframe? Please reply if you see this message. Thank you
@BasedAndRedPilled1 yes. Torque specs are listed as I tighten each one. The one on the knuckle, it calls to torque the bolt to 74ft lbs. The one on the subframe calls to torque the nut to 74ft lbs, as listed and clearly specified in the video.
@@MegaMilesBen Thanks for the response! I watched your video carefully and saw the torque spec notes on screen but I just didn’t know if it was meant to apply to all of them. Thank you for clarifying. I’m working on a Pontiac Grand Am which is essentially the same vehicle as the Oldsmobile Alero. Could you give me an idea on what the torque should be for the one bolt on the rear sway bar link that attaches to the knuckle? (I’m guessing 25-35ft lbs)? I also already tackled the job for the trailing arms and torqued the articulating side that attaches to the body to 40ft lbs and the side attached the the knuckle to 50ft lbs. Does that seem right? I couldn’t find any free torque spec info online for this specific car so I used info that was recommended for GM W chassis cars of this era. I hope I’m not asking too much from you. You’re greatly appreciated!
@BasedAndRedPilled1 I would need to look up all those torques for you which takes time from my schedule, sorry.
@@MegaMilesBen where do you look them up? Do you have a paid subscription to a site that gives you all that info or do you know of a site that gives out free torque specs?
@BasedAndRedPilled1 Prodemand and yes its a very expensive program due monthly. What is the vehicle year, make, model and engine size? Ill look these up when I have some free time. Just keep in mind, this isnt what my youtube is about and all these questions about other peoples vehicles, torque specs and such that I get asked all the time and would normally cost folks a diagnostics fee, all take time from my schedule as a one man shop.
21:46 i felt that
😂 yea that stud bit me.
Great video bro✊🏽
@@erniejudah6976 thank you! Thanks for watching!!
That's not a damn nineteen millimeter
@los8011 it was on this car. Size may differ depending on brand and if its been replaced before. Some come with 22's, some with 19s, and some with 17s and so forth. Never expect any bolt or nut to be the same size.
Thanks for this video. I need to do this on my Maxima. Question, do you have to disconnect the tie rod and lower control arm to do this? Seems folks do this both ways and as a DIY'er I'd rather not mess with something I don't necessarily have to. Many folks say just disconnect from strut, swivel to release the axle, and that's it. At best, they only seem to remove the strut for easier access. Also, I didn't note you replaced the grease seal on the transaxle. I have a MT. Is this recommended and do you need a set of drifts to drive in the new seal?
@mountainbiker4450 you dont have to disconnect the lower ball joint, no, you can do the upper strut bolts. I disconnect the tie rod to give the knuckle more play. For the seals, you really just need something that fits flush with the outer edge of the seal and then tap it in. I find myself using different tools for different cars on those.
Thank you for showing! Now I can see how to tune up my 2003 chevy trailblazer! Now I can save money to tune up my vehicle instead of taking it to the mechanic. God bless you and thank you for showing me. I appreciated!

2006 Pontiac Torrent SUV Why does a front strut always go bad every year on the drivers side only , I just had to get another Strut today every year seems like the norm only the Drivers side popping everything is brand new with Lifetime Warranty in my Suspension,
@newfieledman9164 Im not really sure on that. You might do a search and check some forums to see if anyone has a similar problem. Could have to do with bad roads, faulty parts, cheap parts, other issues in the suspension, upper mounting surface damage, knuckle damage and on and on. Youd need a diagnostics on that probably. Theres so many possibilities, youtube probably wont have the answer youre looking for.
@@MegaMilesBen got the strut replaced the strut was good but the upper mount must have been the problem, but i can still feel a slight popping on the steering wheel i checked it out could not find anything , but now wondering if it might be the Sub Frame bushing causing the problem, last year I had installed al new engine mounts and the trans mission mounts accept for the upper transmission mount or unless it could be a bad bushing on the driver's side Rack and pinion 👍

Thanks for your helpful video! Have a 2017 RR Evoque HSE Dynamic L4 Ingenium. Bought a O sensor kit specified for my vehicle that contains 3 sensors. Replaced the pre and post cat sensors without a problem but cannot find the 3rd sensor! After not finding on the car I tried multiple sources including service manuals with no luck. Now am wondering if there really is a 3rd sensor. Do you know if my car has a 3rd sensor, and if so, where it is?
