Part 7: Tuktoyaktuk, NWT return trip, Dease Lake to Prince George via Cassiar hwy. Salmon Glacier
Sawmill Point Recreation Site on Dease Lake to Stewart, BC. From Stewart it's a short drive through Hyder, Alaska then back in to BC to arrive at Salmon Glacier. Amazing views around each corner. Then we camped in a clearing on Kitwancool Lake and slept through a spectacular display of northern lights. Luckily my camera didn't sleep through it! Next day a round of discgolf at Smithers, BC; home of the world's nicest discgolf baskets! We had a nice campsite at Peterson's Beach on Fraser Lake that night. It's late enough in the season now that there were only a couple others in the campground and the caretaker was being generous with the firewood. We stopped in Vanderhoof on our way to Prin...

We left Lake Laberge Sept 7th and spent the day in Whitehorse. The plan was to meet Larsson for supper at Woodcutter's Blanket, but he was a few hours later than expected, the trip out of the mine site wasn't kind to his service truck tires! We said a quick hello and headed out of Whitehorse to find a campsite, campgrounds were full so we ended up in a "no overnight" rest area on the Klondike H...

We didn't have much luck with wildlife sightings on this side trip, a couple black bear and a few wild horses. Disappointing to not see a huge Alaskan Moose. Oh well, We'll likely see moose when we're in Prince George in a few days! In Hindsi...

A swim, (if I can use the word SWIM) then a return trip southward on the Dempster highway. We shared the Nitainlaii Territorial Park campground just south of Fort McPherson with a young couple from Mexico City. We helped them plug a tire puncture in the morning, then headed back north for coffee and muffins at the home of Iohan's "friends from Fort McPherson" Back in Dawson City we took a two n...

A fun afternoon ride up the northwest side of Mt Connell. We discovered the route just this year as it was part of the "Lost Elephant" bike race Melanie entered. Very beautiful scenery. As always, cameras don't do the inclines justice, but, you will notice Melanie chose to walk some of the descent on the way back though! We need to do more of this.

Crashed Drone, DJI Mini 2 Tree Rescue Attempt
This was so interesting to watch and very similar (especially the mud) to what we experienced minus the snow. We had originally planned to be on the Dempster the same time as you but we moved our plans up a week. We left the Dempster on 27 Aug. Where did you eat in Tuk? Was it Grandma's kitchen? The food looked amazing and how wonderful it must of been to listen to her stories. That is the one thing we did not experience unfortunately.
@@cyndihardy4550 did you experience the end of bug season? I think I only got two mosquitoe bites the entire trip! Grandma was out of town for two days but we heard about “Auntie Eileen” who can feed up to 8 in her home. A very fun experience. It was our first time that far north, where else did you get to?
@@MrDanno133 I was not aware of Auntie Eileen's place. Luckily we did not have any bugs on the trip. We ended up camping at Tombstone on our way there and back - both were unplanned but once we saw the area we couldn't resist. What a beautiful campground. Tombstone National Park was magical. My favourite spot was the NWT/Yukon border followed closely by the Arctic Circle. We will be going back to the Yukon because it gets into your soul and calls you back but I don't think we will venture back into the NWT. I left my heart in the North...still think about it everyday. I found an amazing quote that describes how I feel after this epic trip ..."Forever ruined for the ordinary.." that pretty much sums it up.
Great video.. Thank you so much for showing us the mighty North of Canada. Very beautiful. Cheers!
I’m building this same shed snd roof panel #4 holes don’t line up, but void level. I think there’s a misprint in the manual also (page 46 doesn’t say to use PPGL in step 9, but I think it’s supposed to be) did you have any problems with this section? Great video BTW
What an interesting area, I woulda got in the water too🙌
@@grandenb5543 , we’re you walking in to Centek today a bit after 3?? I don’t recognize people if they aren’t by their bikes!
@MrDanno133 yeah I was, you were in the car, I would have clicked sooner if you were in truck😆 we have the same struggle😁
I was up in Dawson for the second time in June. I see your last name is Loseth, my family has ties to the Loseths that had settled in the Crowsnest Pass area.
@@TestDontguess , I met Frank(?) in the mid 90’s when we moved to BC. We were invited to a family reunion there but didn’t make it. I’m sure there’s a relation if not at least roots in the same town in 🇳🇴! Dawson was a cool place
@@MrDanno133 I was at that reunion, my Grandfather was from Maple Creek, and served in WW2
Cool Beans, Dan ..!
Thanks for taking us with
I'm surprised guys do this with nice newer trucks. I'd buy a beater and do this first.
That’s what the last 45 years have been! Practice haha
Nerve wracking!
Your channel needs to be changed to "Danger Dan"
How much time did the “shortcut” add to your trip?
@@shirleyberge2710 , approximately 1km added about 2hrs! (Also added around 100gb’s of video)
It wasn’t technically a shortcut. It was the only choice to circle the mountain which clearly HAD to be done, it was a quad trail that connects a dead end road with a parallel running logging road. Once we got in to it going forward was easier than backing out!
@@MrDanno133 😂
You’re crazy!! 😂
I say you got this ! Happy Trails to ya
What is the weather like there in October?
@@tombiggi1024 , in my opinion, September/October are the best months! All the fall colours, not too hot/cold. Usually quite dry then.
How far did your sag truck go?
incrivelmente emocionante e lindo , Iohan me inspira sempre a seguir a estrada...paz
@@onflownaestrada , us too!
There was a big fat brown bear near the top, we thought maybe a Grizzly, I should have put the drone up right there but didn’t think about it in the excitement of the moment. @keishii
I like this
Looks like a great time
What a great way to honour Iohan. I wanted to meet him somehow years ago when I first happened across his YT channel. I’m not into bike packing but came across his channel when seeking a YT channel to watch while walking on a treadle for winter exercise. I was mesmerized by this fellow who, it seemed , in the coldest part of the world, on the coldest day with wind and blowing snow , walking his ladened bike on an ice highway …told a passing trucker he was going to Argentina. From that day on I couldn’t wait until he posted a new segment of his journey. I’m still hooked. I tell as many as I can to watch Iohans channel for inspiration. Thankyou for creating this.
Riposa in pace fratello, grazie di tutto quello che ci hai trasmesso con i tuoi video. Buon viaggio amico
I seriously binged all his videos in 3 days! Great man, never complaining about anything! Huge inspiration!!!! ❤ R.I.P. my bike brother. ❤
Rest In Peace Iohan
Such a great bond of friends across continents, cultures and time. Iohan would love it.
Having a goal and accomplishing it is the achievement.
How long did it actually take with the base and build?
Not sure exactly! I know i did the base and concrete footings one day, and the rest (assembly) maybe 4 or 5 hours the following day. So far its holding up very well. Sorry about the slow response!
@MrDanno133 how much should i charge to put one together? 20×10.5
Thousands of people around the world loved Iohan. Me being one. Rest in peace beautiful soul xx
It's a dream of mine
Just today I was wondering about Iohan and went searching for any video updates, and learned this heartbreaking news. I am so saddened. Thank you for sharing this tribute and memorial to such an inspiring human being.
thank you for making this memorial
Such sad news
That is so Cool
Iohan is an inspiration. Thank you Iohan for sharing your stories.
😢 you know until now I'm not believe his passed away... 😢😢😢 I watched his video series more than 10 times.
Frank the Tank VS Tyson Fury next time...
I somehow in my mind feel like I could have befriended him, and kept him from going through such pains in his life. In life, in someone's soul, it is impossible to know what one is truly feeling. They sometimes struggle to place one foot in front of the other. They is this internal struggle going on in the mind. I selfishly wish he was still here. Here for me, as well of thousands of others as we come to grips with this tragedy.
Iohan, Its over two years now, I still watch some of your videos, Thanks to you, I went out and got myself a touring bike, not on the road yet still building it, I just hope I can do half the things you did I will be so happy, as long as I can meat good people as you did. Iohan your not forgoten.
Iohan was the only person whom upon hearing of his death I cried and cried. At that awful news I felt like I had been shot, some part of soul was crushed.
I subscribed Iohan channel Bikewanderer back in 2014. I never would guest that his journey would end😢
love these ole boats...

You should use music that Iohan used in his videos
The music can't get any more "Iohan's" than the song "Iohan" written by his friend. I have no aspiration to become the caliber of film maker Iohan was, Just wanted to honour our friend. The geotag location for the memorial plaque ( located at the summit of Gray Creek Pass in British Columbia) is somewhere in the comments, I'll find it and post it for you.
@@MrDanno133thanks, I'm asking because his friend Sylvain who tour with him wanted to know where his memorial was
It should be "Remembered by milions" I have his all videos downloaded on my laptop, portable hard drive and pendrive. I talked about this with Iohan to do an Archive just in case.
Where is his memorial located?

God I loved watching his videos and eagerly awaited every upload me and my wife watched together. He cracked me up! Besides his love for all animals, especially dogs, he would call cows “my little hamburger” at times cracking me up because it speaks of rationed calories and inhuman effort getting into the most remote locations on earth. His South American travels will never be topped. Just crazy shit, like camping in drug cartel territory with pot plants growing around him. He could have ended up in so many shallow graves it’s mind boggling. His kind spirit always pulled through. Some location do remote civilization was 2 weeks away. I know he passed in South Africa, my country of birth, which saddens me. RIP Iohan.

Great video sir! Did you just anchor the shed on top of the plywood floor and didnt bother using the metal floor kits that come with these? I am looking at buying the Duramax Woodside 10.5' x 8' shed.
@lonersnger8293 , Yes, I just used the outer base pieces to screw to the plywood floor, I used 2x6’s under the plywood I think, it’s been holding up well.
We miss you, you wonderfull human being !!!!
