Dan is just an old guy making goofy videos with a harp. He wants to bring some happiness and silliness to a world that sorely needs to laugh.

Can a Yankee Sing Country
Просмотров 208День назад
I grew up near Boston. In this original song I kinda make fun of myself for singing Country music while playing three harps: a jaw harp, a mouth harp, and a harp harp! And it’s a singalong! Fishin' With a Harp
Просмотров 175Месяц назад
This 1987 Nitty Gritty Dirt band hit was written by Wendy Waldman and Jim Photoglo. Baby get ready… I’m fishin’ with a harp. Extended my low B string and tied a hook to it. Didn’t catch anything. Maybe I should have used my F (for “Fish”) string? (No worms or harps were harmed in the making of this video.) Don't Have Any More, Missus Moore - Sing-Along
A favorite of mine from the Baltimore Consort CD, On the Banks of Helicon: Early Music of Scotland. Ya done good, Dans!
Donna, thank you! It is a wonderful tune!
Lovely arrangement!! This tune is one of my favorites!!
Thanks very much Kathy! I love it, too.
Interesting information about the title.
Looking at the harp, it's my understanding that its both right handed and left handed. Am I right? I'm left handed but... If I'm right, and its both left handed and right handed then its one of the few stringed instruments that is ambidextrous. Is this left hander, right? ;-) Great tune also Dan. What would be epic is if you played every instrument you owned on one tune. And is there any instrument you could not play? Brass wind instruments maybe? Bagpipes?
Michael Stephen, In general the right hand plays higher on the harp, generally the melody, though not always, and the left hand plays below. The harp rests on the right shoulder. I expect it could be played the other way 'round by left handed players, though I don't personally know of anyone doing that.. Also, only the thumbs and the next three fingers are used on both hands -- the pinky is just along for the ride. There are double stung and triple strung harps that I suppose you could consider to be ambidexterous. I tried playing a triple strung harp (three courses, the white keys on the outside, and the black keys in the middle) and went a bit crosseyed trying to see what I was doing! Yes, there are many instruments I can't play. I don't have the wind to play brass or woodwinds or bagpipes. And I'm mostly useless with percussion. Golly,, I don't think I could play them all at once. The chroma key is fairly resource intensive. That many might blow up my vide editor! Then again, my record is 25 in my "The First No-L" video (but only three of them playing instruments). Thanks very much for watching and for reaching out!
what the fuck did i stumble upon
😁
Well done Dan. Loved it.
Thanks very much for watching, TheGaffanon!
I am surprised you didn't pop out of some doors during this video marvel. This may be an even stranger version than the original.
Hmm, channeling Rowan and Martin's Laugh In? I'll keep that in mind for some future video. Thanks for watching!
Дэн, я обожаю Вас!
большое спасибо user-kj5ni3ih3h!
Great song for this time as the whole world has become "Strange". Love the arrangement.
It has, right?! Thank you DOt!
Stellar!
Thank you Quad!
I remember playing this with you! I am not even going to try to guess how long ago that was.
Shan, yes, that was fun. The song is ageless, and so are we. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
@@DanVeaner You've inspired me to get the flute, recorders and tinwhistle out again.
@@ShanRees yay, good news! Have fun playing!
Lovely ❤
Thank you Caroline!
Love the hats!
Very beautiful.
Can't believe I missed this when it was first posted! I love that you covered this song, it was included in the fallout soundtrack and became one of my favorites. Thank you for the cover!
Ken, thank you for watching! I don't remember when I first heard it, but I do remember a colleague walking by me in the hall, quite uncharacteristically for him, singing it. I'm with you -- I love this song!
Love it. Thanks my man
Thank you Sys Sky!
Two years later I still think this is a masterpiece 😂🎉
blackalectrona, thank you! This was certainly a fun one to make!
Hahahaha Awesome! Loved it!

Thanks actorharper! Right! It is a fun one.

Thanks again!
Thanks yet again!
Your falsetto is hilarious....lee good 😂
Thanks for watching jensg!
Most people will unconsciously skip the video when they see the shop link on it 👍
Thanks for watching despite that. The statistics don't agree, actually, but people do seem to ignore the link. I'm not seeing much in the way of sales. In any case I'm not doing it for the shop - I just like giving folks something silly to break up the barrage of difficult world events.
This is when RUclips recommendations fucking WORKS!
I'm glad you found it. Thanks very much for watching!
Wow! Your 2nd Dan from the left really had his hands full with all the headgear changes. Funny stuff!!
LOL, yes he did. Especially since some of them kept trying to slide off the table!
Fun cat song for all of us who adore cats.Thanks. MJ. Lane
Excellent song. Totally bizarre. I knew it had to be English. You've done a fantastic job of it Dan - the ending was class also. I'm going to have to listen to it again. It will be an ear worm.
Michael Stephen, thank you! You're right, it is a bit of an ear worm!
You out-did your fabulous self with this one, Dan!
Karen, thank you! You are very kind!
Love this! You must have done loads of these by now but they’re always great!
Mark thank you! I especially love the music hall songs.

Robin, glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
