Miss information, Dewsbury Road and Elland Road were never classed as Beeston, They were Holbeck, not Beeston. If the title said Beeston, or Cross Flats, yes that's acceptable. I lived as a child in both Holbeck and Beeston. Yes you could walk for 15 minutes from Beeston ark to Holbeck Park. Both were in Leeds 11 , but Holbeck was as old as Leeds itself, where Beeston was added much later

I don't think that the photo labelled Peel Street 1934 is the correct location. You cannot see the town hall in that position from Peel Street. I think that it is in fact Queen Street, photographed from the Fountain Street end.

This collection has brought back very many happy memories of my youth in Beeston ('43 to '61). Many happy hours spent train spotting on the buffers by the footbridge. Sticking halfpennies on the line with chewing gum - and then hiding in case of a derailment. Walking to the library across the brickfields. Waiting for Grandad as he hopped off the tram at the sharp bend in Beeston Hill. Chatting to the stable lads in Ringtons. I could go on for hours. Best wishes to all who remember Beeson as it was.

Arron Bond is too young to remember when this area was solid artisan and lower middle class. When the blazers of Cockburn wereworn with pride and the only ethnics were the parishioners at St Anthonys. Such happy days back then
