Awesome! I hope you enjoy Monarch Money 🤗
Hi Taylor! Thanks so much for this video. How do you categorize expenses that need to pull from these goals' balances? Monarch only lets me connect my associated savings account to the goal, so there's no way to assign, for example, an unexpected veterinary bill to utilize my pet sinking fund. Would you hide the actual transaction and categorize the transfer from savings to the goal?
This is much more in depth than what I’ve been doing. Thanks
Amazing! I can't believe you don't get more views. I immediatly purchased this template :D
Aww thank you so much for the support! 🤗
I love that it can tell you what you can make with ingredients on hand!
Yes, it’s one of my favorite features. Makes meal planning a breeze
a great video indeed
Thank you! It was so much work haha
I made a credit card payment and it showed up in monarch as a deposit!? Not sure how to fix that. I’m on a free trial and may dump it if I can’t fix that
Hmm, it seems like we need to review your categories. Please book a call with me at pinnotpaper.setmore.com and I'd be happy to go over things more in depth with you!
This is so helpful!! Thank you very much!
Happy to hear it! And I’m glad we got to connect over a session too 🤗

Hello, thanks for creating a wonderful template. The shop doesn't display the " Meal Planner Notion Template". Please advise.

What’s most appealing about retiring early for you? 💕✨
Hmm I’d say the idea of not having to work if I don’t want to. I’m excited to have that freedom
Sorry for the mic popping noises! Not sure why I had all these issues this time 😖

Thank you! And this is a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (2015). A bit old, but gets the job done!
This works for you and that’s amazing! We all need to learn what works for us, that’s why we’re here. To learn! You’ve got some brilliant ideas. Thank you for sharing
I'm happy my ideas were helpful!
Hello! Thanks for sharing!
I like your channel. I have to ask.... Not everything gets a budget, specifically wants. Giving a budget to a WANT, especially after you spend the money makes it look like you did a great job.... but did you? We all spend money on those, like credit card repayments, but shouldn't they have a budget of $0? ALL free money should be going to savings or investments? So you will be OVER on WANTS and UNDER on SAVINGS when your spending is off? If you have to spend money every month on a WANT, then shouldn't it be a NEED? just asking! keep up the great videos!
I completely understand where you’re coming from. At the time of this video, I overspent on my wants to “make up for” all the years I spent nothing on myself. But now I have a more healthy mindset and I am willing to reduce my wants (not completely eliminate or else I’ll get bored) in order to meet my now mandatory debt/savings goals so I can buy what I want guilt-free later!
... why are you making this so complicated. Girl look up some RUclips videos my god.
This is just what works for me 😊 Good luck on your journey!
It's not even complicated? It's thorough. People who have concrete ideas on how to achieve their goals have a much better chance of success. Just because some cash budgeters come on twice a week to cash plan and stuff envelopes doesn't mean they don't have plans and notes you don't see. Those just aren't as "aesthetic" so it stays behind the scenes.
Im aiming to start financially planning myself. This is great motivation. Good luck to you and your goals!
Same to you! Take it one step at a time and you'll make progress before you know it.
Nice video like it so far good luck on ur journey. 'The money guy show' on youtube helped me when i was building my plan. they have a lot of videos on FIRE movement planing and free resources
Agreed! I started following them recently and their content is very helpful for me as a humble beginner.
a couple things: what was your reasoning for buying a $1500 couch on a loan when you could've gotten one off FB marketplace for $100-$250? calculating all your housing costs, you're paying almost 50% of your take home pay on this, when financial advisors recommend not paying more than 30% (ideally 20-25%). this seems like a risky situation to put yourself in because you didnt like your roommate. why not find another?
Great questions! 1. I didn’t want to risk getting secondhand furniture in this post-Covid climate (I also just wanted something brand new). 2. I’ve lived with other people plenty of times before this roommate and it just never worked out, so I decided to go solo for peace of mind. My rent itself is 30% of my gross income, so I’m comfortable with that. Worst-case scenario, I have almost $700 “free” each month (aka the monthly margin) that I can pull from at any time if my situation changes!
@@pinnotpapervalid! as long as you dont feel constrained by it, that’s all that matters
you shouldnt be saving while having debt
I’m deciding to save because I’ve had back-to-back emergencies the past year, so I can’t afford not to build some kind of cushion while paying off debt. But I’m still putting more towards debt anyways so it’s still the priority 💪
Completely incorrect mindset. You should definitely be saving even if you have debt. You shouldn’t be investing. Keep pushing forward!
You’ll get yourself in a negative loop if you don’t save before you pay off debt. Emergencies aren’t going to stop just because you have a debt payoff plan. Preparing for those emergencies will allow you to focus on your debt payoff.
@briaelle Yes! Say it for the people in the back 📢
You should have some savings while paying off debt, but could probably set a interim limit of about 1-3 months of saving, then go full force on paying off debt, before saving the rest of the full 1 year emergency fund.
I really love your videos, it’s been helping me stay financially on track to reaching my goals. Keep up the great work! 👏👏
That’s so exciting! I know you’ll be able to do it 💪
This is a 2 year video, but I wanted to reach out and say thanks for all these amazing advices :) The way you explained was superb! good to know Im not alone on this.
I’m so happy to hear my humble suggestions were helpful 🤗
This is really helpful!
Really enjoyed your video, can't wait for the next one!
I've added my husband, and he has linked his credit card. Is there a way to see how much either of us is spending in each category separately?
Hi Angela! Option A: If both of you spend through your own accounts, go to Reports > Filters > Accounts, and select the bank account you want to review the spending for. Then click “Apply” and view the “Spending” tab to see the category breakdown. Option B: If both of you spend through a joint account, the best way to see spending by person is by using Tags. You can create them by going to Settings > Tags > New tag. After you’ve created a tag each for you and your husband, you can tag each transaction by person when you check-in with Monarch. Then go to Reports > Filters > Tags and select the tag (aka person). Then click “Apply” and view the “Spending” tab to see the category breakdown.
I love this advice on night owl routine being put into a more realistic light instead of just being told not to be so lazy, getting called out for it, etc. Im a natural-born night owl myself & tend to be more productive and happy around 1-5am and love my 7-8am morning naps a lot. I've been trying to set a goal for my schedule fix so i can have enough time to watch a movie at 3:30am, take care of my kid, read/study, etc. So that way i can have a better routine and all too to train myself to have better focus. Im more of rather a grouch when i wake up. Thank you!
I’m proud of you for being aware of your needs and making a plan to meet them 🥳
Thank you so much for being here for us who are struggling with so much
My pleasure!
Enjoyed this video! I love your outro!!! Very audibly and aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for updating us on what you've been up to. I'm so excited for you to be living alone. As a fellow introvert, the peace living alone brings is priceless. Can't wait to see what this series brings.

Excited to watch this! I know I've said this before, but I really enjoy your financial videos❤️wish you a peaceful future living alone!
It brightens my day to see comments like this. Thank you for the support 💚
Big congratulations on using roughly $6K to eliminate $15K of debt 🎉. Growing the net worth is an engine that really picks up speed if you stick with the grind. I really look forward to your food planning episode. I think that is where a lot of us let money slip through our fingers.
Thank you! I miss my savings, but like you said, I’m picking up momentum now and will get that back in no time. I’m excited to share my meal planning tips soon! 🌮
Great simple video. Me and my wife are using this app and its very intuitive and easy to use but you just made it much more comprehensible. Thank you sis!
