Piano - Ren Guang: Colourful clouds chasing the moon (arr Wang Jian Zhong) 任光 彩云追月 王建中编
I absolutely loved learning this really evocative piece full of character, I spent a lot of time trying to make it more song like as it’s too easy to end up playing this like a showpiece, I hope my intentions came across!

Piano - Pierre Sancan: Mouvement (1946)
Просмотров 2843 месяца назад
Sancan is a composer I hadn’t heard of until I discovered this piece and his toccata, but I absolutely love his style of composition and wish he was played more often. That being said for an encore this piece is extraordinarily testing, while a lot of the finger work is very approachable the repeated notes are awkward and relentless, especially in the second section where they come out at all s...
Piano - Maurice Ravel: À la manière de “Borodine” (M.63/1)

I’ve really enjoyed playing this little Ravel miniature over the last couple of months, I found it’s such a haunting mysterious piece and delightfully dainty while still holding a bit of Ravellian sarcasm although the voicing and dynamics are deceptively difficult!
Piano - Ludwig Van Beethoven: Sonata No.10 in G Major (Op 14 no 2)
Просмотров 3953 месяца назад
It's been really wonderful learning this as my first complete Beethoven Sonata, it's such a warm and gentle piece, with a loving pastoral first movement, lots of comedy in the second with quite a Haydn-like idiom, and a fun and energetic scherzo. While not too difficult for a Beethoven sonata I certainly found it musically challenging, and the outer movements also contain some fiddly runs and h...
Piano - Frédéric Chopin: Fantasie Impromptu in C Sharp Minor (Op Post. 66)

This is another piece I’ve been preparing for my ATCL recital, I found it a really exciting piece to play, although I found the note control in the outer sections to be very difficult, and the slow nocturne in the middle is particularly difficult to play musically.
Piano - Johann Sebastian Bach: Toccata in E minor (BWV 914)
Просмотров 2463 месяца назад
This is a wonderfully brilliant piece of early Bach I’ve been preparing for my ATCL, and despite being the shortest of Bach’s 6 manualiter toccatas I found it nevertheless very intense to perform, with each movement having specific effects and challenges. "Wolfishly" (pun intended) difficult to play. What an amazing technique you have. I like how the piece is structured and played. Really paints the story. I never heard this piece before. @@Nicholas_GNT I'm afraid I don't know what petrof it is, but I'd recommend rather than picking one model in particular, going to a shop and just trying all the models within your budget and going with the one that you enjoy playing the most.
