In a letter to a friend, Oscar Wilde wrote of the meaning of his fairytale "The Nightingale and the Rose". The nightingale is the true lover, if there is one. She at least, is Romance, and the student and the girl are, like most of us, unworthy of Romance. Oscar Wilde - Irish poet, novelist, essayist, and playwright. (1854-1900)

Tobermory By Saki | Read By CS Jackson
Просмотров 240Год назад
Saki's short story Tobermory is a wicked little gem about a malicious talking cat named Tobermory, who proceeds to reveal the secrets and indiscretions of the gossipy hosts and guests, which he has overheard during a country house party given by Lady Blemley. Saki perfectly satirizes the pretensions and hypocrisy of Edwardian Society, and it is considered one of his best stories.

At the start of the First World War, SAKI at the age of 43 enliste...

As a teacher, this is my favorite story about teaching.
Why did you leave out entire paragraphs though? Excellent voice but I follow along with the physical copy and unfortunately too much seems left out. 😢
"Once upon a time, there was an ugly barnicle. He was so ugly everyone died. The end." Litterally the old man rn
I'm listening to this while doing my halloween 🎃 crafts. Its a great experience again. 😊
May your Halloween be filled with fun, laughter and spooky stories. CSJ
Hey I just hit copper 4 in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Ubisoft Montreal, and I have a 2.3 KD. Please do not bully me the waiter started closely on me yesterday so I just wanted to make sure that they were okay, so I perform a lot of procedures on feet tomorrow when my doctor said I was okay! Thanks guys.. ~mwah~
what an incredible voice
For some reason, my eyes always fill with tears when I read this story or hear it read. The elderly woman, a scion of an ancient and noble family, compelled to work as a governess when the family became penniless. Then the indignity of being treated like a servant by her callous, nouveau-riche employers. Finally, her true identity as a noblewoman becomes evident as she approaches death. Saki had a unique gift that survives one generation after another.
Thank you. This is true. The great writers of the past-Saki, Oscar Wilde, Guy de Maupassant can teach us so much. CSJackson
@@MidnightReadCSJ Thank you as well for your channel. I look forward to listening to more.
