Why are people stupid to challenge the Navy?
My daughter is currently here division 352
Best scene of movie imo, gosegumps
I was division 417/418 in 1995. We were a brother and sister division. The first of it's kind while I was there.
I did this march through the tunnel in 1995, and I remember it well. Not well enough to remember any lyrics other than "Anchors away my boys..." However, at Corps School, I learned this song: "I put my hand upon her toe ya ho, ya ho. I put my hand upon her toe, ya ho, ya ho. I put my hand upon her toe, she said, 'Hey, Sailor, you're way too low. Get in, get out, quit fucking about', ya ho, ya ho, ya ho". I remember every word.
Every school should play this every time that they start teaching American history
My heart sank a bit when I heard gunney passed away. "Gunney" in officer and a gentleman and chappy in iron eagle and Roy Palmer in diggs town
I swear integrated divisions don't sound near as cool as all male divisions when marching
Louis Gossett Jr owned that role
Words can’t describe how spot on this is. RIP
Great Lakes, Div.21 , Company 077, February 23, to April 26, 1987, Color Company. CCs MM1 ( SS ) Rayburn and MM1 (SS) Davis. Company Motto ( because CCs were both S.S.) : " Hidden from view, but way ahead of you ". ARPC Corrigan.
Best part of bootcamp
NTC/RTC San Diego company 200 Oct 82 to Dec 82 82 to 88 AZ2 VS-41 and VS-33 two west pacs.
1978 company 909! Wow, time sure flies
I was there at the tail end of '63. My Company was on the Grinder on Nov. 22, 1963 the day President Kennedy was assassinated.
R.I.P.: Louis Gossett, Jr., you will forever be missed. 😥😥😥😥
I’ll always remember straddling & duck walkin over the water licks & onto the diving board: Cross your arms over the chest and jump off the diving board into the water. If you kick him scream, we will let you sync to the bottom and lose consciousness before we pull you out. I remember it well!! Co 318 (color) 1987!
Company 245 July 1986 Great Lakes
July 1986
Company 177 APRIL 1967.will never forget.
Love the music.
name?
Pass this on!! Every American needs to know why they should stand for our National Anthem ❤🙏
Does Foley correct Seegar when she calls him sir by saying “Gunnery Sargeant” ? I’ve seen this movie a ton but just noticed that.
Correct.
Rest in peace, Louis Gossett Jr.
RIP Louis Gossett Jr ❤🙏😪✝️
Born: 1936, Sheepshead Bay, New York, NY Died: March 29, 2024 (age 87 years), Santa Monica, CA RIP Louis.
"I'll never forget you" You lived up to your line and made this movie memorable. In pace requiescat, Louis.;_; 😢🫡😢🫡
Had to watch this again after hearing of Mr. Gossett’s passing. Richard Gere did an awesome tribute to him and said Gossett was “tough but a sweetheart with a heart of gold,” I could believe that he was great in this role. I come close to crying when he and Gere exchange salutes. RIP Mr. Gossett a true officer and a true gentleman. You will be missed but not forgotten.
RIP Sergeant 😢
RIP Louis Gossett Jr. A Trailblazer and one of the GOATs!
RIP Louis Gossett Jr. aka Sgt Foley
Here today because of the Louis Gossett Jr’s untimely death. Best thing he could’ve done, I’m glad he won the Oscar for this. RIP legend. Thank you for setting the standard and making us proud. You are missed 😢❤
Rest In Power to Louis Gossett Jr, great man and great actor. You will be sadly missed, Good Sir.
RIP Louis Gossett Jr
Brian Williams LOL yikes. That was just gross. Especially since we know he lied about being under fire and such
I was there for boot camp 9-74 to 12-74 .And MM A school 5-75 to 7-75 .
Son is currently there. Division 130
My younger brother is also in division 130 just received a letter from him today
@@thomasshafer315 hell yeah! We received letters a week ago and got a call on April 6th. How's he holding up?
@@flman1284 well we received a letter yesterday said he was doing great and loved it. He said he is learning a lot and hopes to graduate on May 30th. The letter was only about one page long but it was all good news saying how much he enjoyed it. Have not received a phone call yet but my brother is pretty to himself, he doesn't really like being on the phone so that could be why. Hope your son is doing great also!
@@flman1284 how is your son doing? Seems like graduation is only a week away! I hear that no news is good news my brother is a very quiet person so I don't get any phone calls but I did get one letter in the mail! Seems like he is doing it!
@@flman1284 have you heard from your son? Any news from your end
I'm recently retired after 22 years and this clip gave me goosebumps. So many great memories.
Company 359 October-November 1986.
Someone in the know please help me out. When the company was lined up on the parade ground, the men were wearing shoulder boards -black with gold star, the woman has no shoulder boards. When getting their first salute, the men have shoulder boards for the rank of ensign, one gold stripe and gold star, still the woman has no shoulder board. What is the rank signified by the shoulder board with gold star, no stripes? Also, why do the women not wear shoulder boards?
That’s a marine DI.
Perfect role For Louis and he nailed it.
2007 division 380
I'm proud to be an American
I was Division '914' in Great Lakes, IL; it was an 'Honors Division'. Dec/1999 Feb/2000. I played that heavy ass bass Drum. The Navy Boot camp did give me a sense of pride though, especially during battle stations (where we had to go to bed at 21:00 and get up at 22:00 to run them obstacles until 10:00 the next morning) and pass in review (graduation)!
I was division 417/418 in 1995.
Gunnery Sergeant or Gunny, never just Sergeant. Sergeant was two ranks down and most likely 5-8 yrs before. Semper Fi
Mayo Came to Admire and Respect Foley, he was not only a mentor and Sgt. but almost the father he needed also!
The most rewarding times of my tour as a Drill Instructor was when the new Marines, that I hated just moments before they were dismissed, would come and thank me. Tore my heart out. For now I loved my brothers in arms. It made all the B.S. I had to put up with from back stabbing Drill Instructors and stoopid officers tolerable.
Not a challenge coin presentation. They are paying a dollar coin for the salute.
They played this video before stations for me did they for y’all
PLAY THIS AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE!! AND REMEMBER WHAT IT TOOK FOR YOU TO LIVE IN THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!!!🇺🇸💯✝️
