Daniel’s shout outs at the Copenhagen marathon are the most positive, amazing, beautiful moments in all the videos I have watched since I joined their channel from nearly the very start ….their videos are brilliant, insightful, funny and motivating…..I managed to run London this year as a 48 year old man and managed to run sub 3 hours, I would never had done that without loving the grind ❤

The first thing I do every Sunday morning is checking whether there is a new video on the Phily's channel. It makes me feel being a part of a great community. Inspired by Daniel, I started the marathon training this Spring, during it I used all Phily advices with training, nutrition and pacing, and success: I did my first marathon a week ago. Wishing them even more success, inspiration for the new videos, and the best of luck in all areas of their life :)

Ouch… Interested to know from Tim, what he thinks about training to power, as he stated that he preferred HR over Pace, and they say power is the actual effort (taking out how the body feels) Keep up the good work.

Absolutely brilliant and fascinating interview. Georgia Bell’s interviews are always excellent. I love the way she analyses her progress in Track and Field and her philosophical dissection of what was going through her mind at various stages of her career. For me this interview was riveting. And it’s interesting that this was all before her incredible performance in the Olympics in which she broke the British record in the 1500m! I can’t find words to describe that amazing feat. There are so many gems I picked up from this interview. One important gem which has surprised me recently is the fact that sometimes training less can actually lead to higher and faster gains. I also got this a couple of days ago from a recent video from The Nielsen Twins and I found that very fascinating. Also the effect of cycling on Georgia’s performance really intrigues me. Wonderful interview! Continue to love your sport Georgia! We’re all so proud of you. You’re a real inspiration in so many ways. Your mindset tips are absolute Gold even for non-athletes. Thank You ladies!

A funny story from this April, I ran the London marathon for Children with Cancer , while rushing through the expo as fast as possible ( not good with crowds) I spotted the charity stand and saw both Paula Radcliffe and Steve (Cram) .. I pointed them out to my wife .. and she said go say hi (now I am usually quite a confident person) .. I stick my hand out and say Hello to Steve .. I am bla bla bla please to meet you (possibly rudely but was trying not to get fan boi ) then I find Paula .. and turn into the Ross Gellar character .. stick my hand out and say some gibbering, forgetting her name and mine (poor woman .. she probably thought how many of these lunes do I have to say hello too) .. I then shuffle to get a charity picture that I won’t use .. pick up my beads and shuffle off still embarrassed. Possibly the only time in my life I have been star struck ( and I know one or two "famous people") and I know how silly the whole thing as we are all just people .

  • @pauldbeer

Strange how the brain works, isn't it? You condition the brain to run a distance, and it adopts to do that. One think a marathon is it, but when you know you about to run 56km, you ok to get to 42, and just glide past it knowing this race is 56km. It is just the way it is.... If you consider doing the Comrades, which is two marathons end-to-end, and a bit, at 86-89km, one just conditions the brain and it works!! The difference at Comrades is that the km-markers actually counts down! So when you get the first marker, it reads like 88km (to go), and continue like that all the way, so at half-way, you get 44 (to go) and that's it, your brain just copes with that! I do hope to see you at the Comrades, as that is just the best and most amazing race ever!!! Not called the "Ultimate human race" for nothing!

Very valid point on the 'if you have not had an issue with mental health then you would not understand it ' spot on. Most people will never run a marathon .. even fewer will be able to run under 3 hours or partake in the Tour de France .. fight in the UFC. The bulk of us will never understand these things 'just how we are wired' is very apt.
