First know if they are air screw or fuel. Often plugged so the carbs have to be removed. Ideally you are only looking to be able to choose any rpm and the motor will stay there for road manners. Often with lean at idle the motor will not hold 1500~2k rpm and always hunt and stutter. Over rich and jetting kits will make it worse with modern fuels or imports from california.
Nice video keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Best tutorial I've found so far, thanks. I've got a CBF600 sitting in a storage for 4years. Carb must be pretty bad. I give it a go after saw how you've done it
That's great to hear, glad I could help 👍
Good work. Nice to see that some people bring RX-8s back to live instead of ripping them apart. I have mine since 17 years now.
Thank you, I agree, it's such an iconic car that always deserve a second chance
I think your next goal should by ubgrading the car it self. I highly recomend putting on 53mm Koyorad best mod i ever instaled on my RX8
My next video is 100% that 😂😂😂, but i went for the 36mm instead. Great mind's think alike 👍
I’m all caught up on the series! Great job! And, like you said, the best part is the learning and really understanding your car. 👍🏻
Wow! You really binged on it 😊 Thank you for the support
Wow! That’s a lot of work. Cool to see!!
Stick around throughout the series to see how it turned out 👍
@@DIYWorkshop_UK definitely planned on catching up 💪🏻
just love to do the super enjoyable project like this . good jobs mate , looking for more automotive restoration project 😍😎
Thank you very much
Media blasting and citric acid bath. Those are the fastest and most effective. I've built elaborate electrolysis cages. Still end up baby sitting the project for days making sure every single angle has line of site. It is just a miserable experience that produces terrible results unless one micro manages it. Where as I can blast everything in real time, and have a coating applied same day. Really intricate components with lots of interior access challenges is solved with citric acid at 32.2C. Many times I can have those components coated same day as well.
I have to agree, it does require a lot of babysitting. I think i will eventually get a media blasting unit, but currently, have no space for it, so this was the best I could do.
Honestly after selling my speed 6 because of this and keeping my rx-8 that has 0 rust. This is my freaking nightmare
Yeah, this one is fighting me with all it has, but hopefully the end is in sight 😊 thanks for watching
Dnt give up and keep up the good work!
This is exactly the right video for me atm, my cills are the same way. Thanks for the great vids !
Thank you for watching 😁
That's going to be an insane amount of work. These cars are so cheap these days. Save your time and energy and just get another one for $1000 with zero rust
It just got a brand new motor, and it is all about the challenge, stick around to see if it was worth it in the end 😉
@@DIYWorkshop_UK I know it's not worth it. You could have put the motor into a clean body and did something better with your time. I understand if these are rare or old cars that are hard to find, but these things are all over
Time you enjoy spending is never time wasted, I am learning new skills while doing this and it is actually cheaper than buying a new shell, you are right in one point though, if I could have gotten a cheaper shell, I would have most likely done that, but here in the UK a body with no rust is way more expensive and hard to find
Great job. Excited to see the finish after a wet sand and polish!
Thanks, that is something I am not looking forward to, having to wet sand and polish it 😅
Hello! Amazing job, thank you for the whole series! I wish I d know such things like this!
Thank you for the support 😊. Funny, all this was new to me as well, never welded or painted before, but you go to start somewhere right?
@@DIYWorkshop_UK Yeah right! I'm working on to own a house with garage and car mechanic stuffs.. And after that I ll start learning as much as I can :))
Que buen proyecto saludos desde 🇨🇼
where did you buy the replacement panel?
Hi, i gor it of Ebay, these are manufactured in Poland. It only cost £125 for the pair, so it was a good deal
Bought the same ones they are doing a great job
if you paint theother side put some masking tape ofer the sill before you put the doors on it will help not to scratch it , looking good otherwhise 👍
Already done the other side in a previous video, this was one of those "why didn't I think of that " kinda moments 😅😅
So glad I stumbled across this channel. Your work is really impressive! Subscribed. I would definitely recommend a "viewers be advised" screen at the beginning of your videos mentioning the bright flashing lights from your welding.
Thank you for the kind words 👍 That suggestion is actually a great idea! It didn't even cross my mind and I will definitely do that in my future videos, in the meantime, I'll amend the description of my current ones with a warning.
this is how you really do this repair 😂 awesome work dude!
Thanks man, really appreciate it 👍
I'm following you in the project. I am sorting out the garage prior starting doing the same job! Just a curiosity: I saw you left a bit of gap between the sill panel and the car body and you filled with a scrap piece of metal. I was under the impression that, when welding, 1mm gap was enough.
Hi, you are right, my problem was when cutting, the body lines made it very difficult to align to get a more precise cut. This was mainly because I was putting the new sill over the old one when measuring. I ended up cutting a bit more solely by sheer dumbness 😅. hence the filler strip. Good luck with your project 👍
❤🎉🎉🎉
that's impressive stuff
Thank you 👍
where did you get the repair sill / rocker panel from Mazda ..?
I got it from Ebay, they are manufactured in Poland I believe
Nice work buddy!! really cool to see the proper way to fix the sills 😂
Thanks man, I am aiming of having this car outlive me 😅. But your works is really good as well.
I actually just started doing this. I cut out the outer sills on both side and currently removing rust and getting it cleaned up. Looks good man! Very nice job!
Thanks!! And good luck on your project, hope it all goes well
Awesome work dude!! you should offer this out as a service!!
Not sure if it is up to professional standards 😅 but thank you for the kind words 😄
@@DIYWorkshop_UK looks legit to me. Would depend on your pricing. Plenty of garages out there who can do it, but for the value of a couple of cars so not viable
Yeah, i got quoted £1000 per side, which is more than I paid for the car 😅
@@DIYWorkshop_UK 🤯
I started the same work today i Hope i will end it in 2 weeks
Good luck man! I still have one other side to do 😁
GJ are u doing an engine rebuild too or evrythung is runing perfectly?
Thanks! I had the engine rebuilt already, right before I found out about the rust, so i now have a engine with 100 miles on it in a rusted car 😅
@@DIYWorkshop_UK same for me hahahahaha. I Hope ur work will be fast and easy
will there be another part ? Im realy wating for it !
Hi, definitely, i will post the next video on Saturday. Thank you for watching
Think I contact you before about my RX8
zacząłem pracę nad swoją RX8 mam dokładnie ten sam problem masz jakieś porady dla mnie ? Co sprawiało trudności w naprawie . Pozdrawiam !
Hi, i think the most difficult part was the corner piece at the rear, as it is hard to reach with the welder. Also, in a future video you will see the process of cleaning the rust under the car. It was hard for me because I have no lift, so i had limited space to work. Thank you for watching
you're doing a awesome job buddy!!
Thanks man! I 've seen your work as well, you're doing great too 👍
