    Hi at 22.06 you say you had trouble with the bedding of the muzzle which you fixed. Cal you elaborate?. Did it involve the front hand guard?

    You put this up in October of 2018. And I'm (enjoying) watching it in March of 2024. It would be really informative if you put up another video about THIS RIFLE, detailing your experiences with it. Target shooting? Hunting? TRAINING a younger Family member on its SAFE USE, etc. PLEASE; consider giving those of us who VALUE such great pieces of History, and understand their significance in the grand scheme of the Drama that was the 20th Century. THANKS 😊

    PPS The bull for a silver spoon was roughly (my memory) 10mm, and you could not touch it. That's roughly 2.5 mm off-centre. It was sixpence a bullet, cost me £££'s. No.17? Probably a Jap car bonnet.

    PS This is the best 303 video on YT. Bar NONE.

  • @jp-um2fr

    England. 40 odd years ago, I met No.17. It was said the barrel was bent. It wasn't. No.17 was a 303 .22 for 25 yard indoor. I got my silver spoon, 10 consecutive bulls. Twice. They changed the target the day I shot. R soles. I then spent the next years popping away at Bisley, maybe the most distinguished range in the world. When my eyes went doolally I shot a W W Greener 12 bore at Bisley much to the disgust of the so called 'professionals' as it was a single barrel. The 'high tower' was superb.

    Rear locking lugs. Not used anymore by anyone. Considered inferior but? I like the idea of both front & rear locking lugs as u think might provide superior accuracy. Think about both push pull "isometrics" with your arms to steady a pistol. If both front and rear lugs have sane push pull effect against one another esp with 3-4 lugs on both ends it will lock the bolt up lined up with the barrel round way more precisely every time. Problem is for this to be done? Requires both sets of lugs to be hand lapped in on every rifle.(Grinded down with lapping counpound till it will finally close) Bet this is why it has never been done. Too expensive per man hours for any manufacturs to do

    I bought one for $179 without the scope in about 1971 . Oddly it had Savage and Holland & Holland acceptance marks. I did find an Israeli knock off of a No. 32 scope.

    It would be great if a company like Cimarron Firearms would make reproduction Lee Enfield Rifles like other companies make the MP-40 and STG-44.

    • @DeimosPC
      @DeimosPC 4 месяца назад

      That's impossible sadly. STG-44 and the MP-40 can be made cheaply because the receivers can be stamped out. Something like a Lee Enfield requires serious machining work to get right.

    Nice ! Thank you for sharing. I have one had for 20 years now my son fired a round through it and that was after I purchased it . I bought mainly because right before the serial number it has 1/ 50 that caught my eye because I was in the Army in the 70's 2 AD 1/50 , I just thought what a coincidence. So I bought it .

    I had the priviledge of handling one like this years ago. It was a Canadian rig, I'm not sure about the differences in the British and the Candians. It was 30+ years ago.

    I once had a SMLE that the wood, not walnut, was a very light color. It shot some 4 inches to one side at just 25 yards. I found the fore stock was very much warped to one side. The substitute wood was so badly warped as to be unusable.

    I bought a No.4 MkII Maltby 1944 (T). It didn't have matching sight and rifle but I was just glad to have got my hands on a (T). However, on careful inspection, several issues started to show up - all the markings didn't correspond to what I would expect on a 1944 (T). On removing the top woodwork I found the stamping 'REGULATED BY FULTON". Fulton was the final word on anything connected with .303's in England and it appears that this was an extremely good Range Rifle, probably shot at Bisley and Fulton did his wonder work on it. So, as far as I am concerned, I have a perfectly fine No4. MkII that shoots as accurately as any (T) - I demonstrated it at a sniper's course (NZ Army) and hit clay pigeons at 550 metres with standard MkVII ammunition. Not bad!
