"Now I realize, it's a f*ckin comedy" could have easily been the worst line of the movie had Joaquin not gone out of his way to make it sound so intimidating, cold, and disconnected. It's like hearing a souless echo. Love this movie.

The crazy part is that Arthur in the movie represents the major part of the society. Onde he do what he did on Murray's show, as psychotic it is, we see that the people take him as a hero. Someone that did what no one had the balls to do - and I am not defending gis actions, of course - and the result is people feeling empowered to do just the same. And this is not just a fictional thing. We can actually see a lot of this already happened before, like when Hitler rose to power with racist speeches and people were embracing it. This is not far away from the picture the movie illustrates in one of its ending scenes if you put some thought on it. Its a good reminder on how people's psychological health is quite fragile.

I remember seeing this scene for the first time and feeling secound hand humiliation for Arthur. The ultimate humiliation directed by your hero on the biggest stage. It seems like this was the moment he died inside and all optimism was lost.

The sad fact is that a lot of celebrities/idols are like this to their biggest fans!
