The timing of this I love it! Misery was my first King booK. LOVED it. But it wasn’t “scary”. It was more intense and uncomfortable. Then I just recently finished Pet Sematary. Arguably his most horrifying book. It wasn’t THAT scary like I thought it was going to be. I’m actually posting a video review this week on it!

Additionally the cool thing about King’s books is that they are different for everyone. Everyone has their own unique experience with each book. Some are super scary for some people while other books are depressing and sad for other readers.

Shinning was the first book I read of his. I was always into the paranormal and I know the backstory of where Stephen king came up with this book concept which I was found so intriguing! After reading it I dove right into the sequel Doctor Sleep. And I loved Doctor Sleep little more than the Shinning. Which is unpopular opinion I guess. But it was cool to see how Dan grew up He stayed a famous haunted hotel while writing the Shinning and had horrible dreams. Which turned into the book. But if your not into that it's going to be boring for you. As I find romance books boring af

i see a book video with nct album in the thumbnail, i click (then feel my heart cracking at that one clip with the album opened...i should stay away from kpop for now and touch some grass and only trust the greenflag fictional book characters). youre so entertaining to watch tho. i relate so much with audiobooks haha. the way audiobooks work for me is i listen to kinda slow paced books with nothing much happening while i do other things like working/doing chores and listen to a harder book to read while also reading along with my book since i have aphantasia and im just starting to explore the fantasy genre. audiobooks just make the characters feel more alive. im currently reading six of crows and the narrators have done immaculate job at making me feel like im in the book with the characters in their world, although not as vividly as i would like to given my brain haha ive been reading like crazy this month since i have more time now due to an end of an insanely long busy season at work. i hadnt stopped even when i finally caught up with my should be progress and still read a lot more and yea i think the burnout finally caught up on me. right now im taking it slowly bcos meeting my goal or not is not the reason why i read. if i keep pushing myself to exhaustion for a hobby that i should be enjoying then it wont be a hobby anymore. new susciber here, will definitely tune in for your next video 💕

I'd say 'IT' is probably Stephen King's scariest. I'd recommend 'IT', 'Pet Sematary' or '11/22/63' to new readers. In terms of the scariest book I've read, I'd say 'Sphere' by Michael Crichton was the most unnerving, since (without spoiling anything) it effectively combines multiple concepts which are individually very scary, into one. In that sense, it's a bit like 'IT', but at the bottom of the ocean.

The Shining is scarier when you’re younger. When you’re older it’s more sad because you can see Jack struggling and trying not to spiral downward but the hotel just drives him crazier, seemingly infecting him. Salem’s Lot, Misery, Revival would be more up your alley. 11/22/63 is absolutely incredible, has a little bit of everything.

So I read misery just 2 days ago, which was the second Stephen King book I read after Billy Summers. I found out about him as this really great, well known author with many good books and I wanted to know why people like him. I didn’t like Billy summers und thought maybe it’s the book only so I tried out misery. I really tried to like it as much is people say because it’s supposed to be one of his best but idk why it was mid for me. I really am trying to like Stephen king because I don’t wanna be that person who misses out and I was thinking maybe I don’t like his writing style in general because it differs from person to person but I’m not giving up yet. I have the shining at home which I’m going to read next and I also have his first book of the Dark Tower Series. I really hope I’ll like the shining at least much better 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @dulcealvarez6071

@jackxxo203 I think it's totally valid to not like his way of writing, i have friends that also tried with 4 books and it didn't click for them, might be also the type of genre, I heard that some like more his books that are not of the horror genre and others that only like those, if you want to keep trying to see if you like one it's cool but sometimes an author is not for us, and personally I'm in a point that I read for pleasure, no matter how good a book or an author is supposed to be if I don't enjoy it, I don't stress about it, maybe I will give it a second try after a year or so in case that it was my current mood that was not clicking with it

my youtube recommendations been onf ire recently, nice video Jannice. The instagram part is really relatable. I used to have a classmate that lived like ''Hazel'' going on a vacation every week and wearing expensive clothing, driving expensive cars. I used to be jealous not because I wanted what he had but the fact that someone my age could do things I couldn't really made me envy him. Until I found out that he used to work 60+ hours a week while I was a student with a 10hours a week side job. He was hiding his job of an insecurity he had. That made me realize that the lives people share is what they want us to see and not the reality.
