As I've only had my steel guitar and a bass guitar since April and won't get all my instruments back until later this month, the obvious thing to do to keep myself occupied was to make a Drum and Bass album. So that's what I'm doing at the moment. Here's an example of what might end up on it.

A while back, when I was 'between homes' and staying at a friend's, I mislaid my left shoe for a while (I only had one pair at the time), so I was temporarily reduced to playing the pedal steel without pedals. It is perfectly possible to do this as the video here demonstrates. I have now found the wayward shoe as my more recent posts confirm. Maybe I should lose it again.

Here's one way to get some use out of your 12th string on a universal pedal steel guitar. At 70mm it's a beast, and you'll need some proper speakers or headphones to hear it. And it's quite hard to play fast on the low strings.

Here's me fooling around with some country licks, just in case I need them one day.

More woodshedding just for fun...but with a hint of darkness thanks to the minor inflections.

Here's another one from the small batch I put together a couple of weeks back. This one is quite high and dissonant. Once my new studio is ready I'll get stuck in again, but in the meantime enjoy this one.

Here is a companion piece to my last post. Like the last one it starts off lyrical and contained but after a while becomes less lyrical and less contained (raggedy some would say). Some quite nice pick blocking though (for those who know what I'm talking about).

After nearly 2 Months between homes, I at last got the chance to have a quick go on the steel in our friend Gaynor's house, where we're staying for a couple of weeks. I thought I'd kick off my return to the steel with some good old-fashioned country...played weirdly of course! Dedicated to Gaynor, who saved our bacon.

Another outtake from my usual mornings sessions of seeing what would happen if... it sometimes work,s it sometimes doesn't. And the rest of the time is just what's left over...the best bits.
