Stillwater Bonanza

Lakes have bonanza days too, where fish come one after another with only seconds in between. This is one of those. If this doesn't get you to consider lake fishing, perhaps nothing ever will.

Milton Lake, Saskatchewan - Freshwater Barracuda
Very informative. What you said explains some lakes I already know. I subscribed to see more of this series. Thanks.
Thanks, Mike.
what weight rod is that
Thayt was a 6 wt. Fish in this lake can go over 10 lbs.
Great informative video. Love the camera rigging on your pontoon as well, looks like it makes for great self filming 🙌🏻
I use a RailBlaza frame port and boom arm to mount the camera and it works great for me.
@@Souzawrites Thank you! Good luck out there :)
Great video :) Love that lake!
Have heard of a few big walleye coming from that lake but have never caught one there myself. Well done! Did you find any rainbows there?
Awesome video! I’ve been wanting to fish these lakes soon, nice fish 🤙🏼
Last year I went in the third week of June and felt I was a little late. This year I went in the thiird week of May and felt like I was a little early. First week of June might be about right. Good luck to you, and stop by "Field and Fly" in Sunriver to get the lay of the land.
The most comprehensive look on wader safety I've seen so far. There are so many conflicting statements and half-assed experiments around. This ought to produced as a neat instructional video and spread around.
Enjoyed the video. Nice work. Just subscribed to your channel for future vids. Good luck and tight lines
Great video. Would love to see more. Amber lake?
It's Mission Lake. I may do a longer viideo later.
Could you do a video where you talk about gear choice/selection and how you fish stillwater? I'm setup very similarly to you and would like to learn how to do it better. Do you fish a full sink or a sink tip?
Okay, I'll do that. I'll probably do it as a series so it doesn't become a long, boring info dump. I personally don't use sink tips on lakes. I usually have a floating line, an intermediate, a type 3 full sink, and a type 9 sink so I can fish at almost any level.
THANKS!
Cady Lake?
It really sucks that this video isn't 3 hours long
Might you try a soft mesh net ? That allows the fish fall right into the well .
Just found your channel .top quality content man . Love fishing with leeches and chironomids.
Can a pfd mitigate not having a belt?
I could do that all day long. Beauties.
I’m heading off to the pool this weekend… greetings from Parker, CO. The danger we face in stream fishing is hard to simulate… but as you said, try it where you can at least know what it feels like. Thanks
You need a real net. And a bit heavier rod apparently. Too much show before you let’’em go.
Nice fish but too much handling of the fish go barbless.
Really neat little fly. I’m Just learning to tie, enjoyed the video. 👍🏻
I pinch my barbs on my flys and the hook falls out while in net. No need to handle so much removing slime. I take a photo while they are resting in the net. Get yourself a bigger floating Fabril steelhead net with a deeper basket, less than $40.
very awkward handling...nice fish
will they survive the net!
Thanks for this! I learned alot
How about less of the “hero shot” and getting the fish back in the water!
I wear a PFD when I wade a medium sized river alone. I can kind of swim but I can't tread very well, if at all. I've just never been comfortable in the water. The PFD I have isn't super bulky, was reasonably priced, has some good pockets and is US Coast Guard/Transport Canada approved. I stubbed both my feet into a big boulder on the edge of some undercut bedrock I was unknowingly standing on and went over it into about 6-8ft of water with some decent current. After that I figured a good wading staff at the very least and probably a decent PFD wouldn't hurt. Thanks for reassuring me that if my waders fill I won't sink like a rock.
You are a wise man Jeremy. Know your limitations. Still, even with a PFD, flexing your hips and knees when you go down will increase your floatation. Keep that in mind. I will be making an accompanying video about what you need to do once the current has you, PFD or not.
Interesting setup, I usually fish the chironomid below the leech. It all works, right?!? 🙂
The problem landing these fish is your rearview mirror...Objects often are closer than they look!
Good one - nearly spit my coffee. I originally thought the biking mirror was a brilliant idea for maneuvering backwards. Broke a set of sunglasses trying to pit it on, then realized it was not as brilliant as I thought and abandoned the idea altogether.
wow.... great video. very much thanks for sharing!!!
Great information!
Super nice fish but hard to watch the netting. Try going head first and swoop up the fish next time
Good lord of fish! You got the magic!
great video, from BC Canada
Is the other guy your gopher !
He's my guide. He knows the lake and where the fish are.
Is your reel broken .. and did you deplete the dam river of fish … hog! 😡
Everything was released. Those fish will be there for the next guy, only maybe a little larger.
Fly fishing for barracuda! Bad ass.
When I watched it after it was uploaded, I realized I may have to institute a swear jar on myself.
@@Souzawrites for the good of the nation! LOL
Cool setup with the sled…..this is “on my list”….!!
Right on!
I checked out his setup online. His boat is a Stealthcraft,, they're out of Michigan, and a new one isn't much more than a new drift boat. I was surprised.
Great fish!
