Brilliant just cool as ,I love the level of detail I used to make similar dioramas when a kid and having no money I would cut off guns from rubbish soldiers to drop random on the dioramas lots of things like that just for more detail and it makes a big difference no battlefield is clean

It’s the most successful one I’ve seen. The others are built with no worries about the details that are too coarse in the original model. I also like traces of rust, shark cages and storage trunks. BRAVO ! Hello from FRANCE !

Just doing one currently, its a redo of one what was build in the 1970/ 1980’s i believe. Got it cheap on marketplace and still nearly 100% complete. Had to take it apart as the old glue used in the original build was failing due to its age i presume. Fun to do anyway. Your vessel has fantastic details, well done 👍👍👍

The helicopter that was flown aboard Calypso was a Hughes 269 (Howard Hughes aircraft company). Used a 4 cylinder gas engine. Sometimes it is mentioned that it was a Schweizer -269. McDonnell Douglas bought the rights from Hughes, then Schweizer bought them from McDonnell Douglas. Now Sikorsky owns the design. They are the same aircraft with minor upgrades over the years. It's typically known as the Hughes-Schweizer 300 (300 for an improved engine).

Only those who have built a Billings kit will know how challenging it is, and will appreciate what you have achieved, it is a work of art. My Zwarte Zee had me pulling my hair out at times. I am currently 3D printing a 1.1m Calypso just to see if it is possible, and yours is going to make an excellent reference model. Thanks for posting.

Not a big fan at all of those pine trees. They look like they're made out of those cheap plastic christmas trees. i think some train set pines would look much better on this piece!

I bought the dumas model American Beauty in 1974. I built part of it, put it away, then life got in the way. Now retired, I finished the model and I also detailed the interior, although no one will ever see it, but it was fun. My next project is this very model, the Calypso model from Billings. My son bought it for me for Christmas. Right now he is redoing my model room and I can’t wait to get started. You did a beautiful job on yours. I plan to detail the heck out of mine also.

Absolutely beautiful model, incredibly well done. I'm picking up a part done one next weekend. Looking forward to having one again very much. I had the kit back in the late 1980s when it first came out and loved it, very much regretted selling it, so I'm eagerly anticipating having one again and getting it on the water.

I recall seeing someone else who wanted to make the stocks look more like real wood, and used Fiebing's alcohol based leather due to darken the plastic to a more walnut color and then semi gloss sealed it. That's what I plan on doing to mine after I "ding up" the furniture here and there. Also, be aware of where you are weathering the gun. I noticed on the right side above the trigger, the "mouth harp" looking piece you weathered at 2:59 wouldn't get any wear on the top of it because it's protected by the upper receiver overhang. I would also recommend picking up a 1917 Kerr pattern sling and getting ride of that bungee one you have on there now.

Put the sandpaper away and use a scotch brite pad very lightly. 3M makes other soft pads as well which will give you a real worn in look. I have aged electric guitars using 3M pads and aged a few AK 47 rifles for other people with great results. I would say this being a BBgun why bother just shoot it and don't worry so much about where you set it down and it will wear in and age all on its own. Your finished product doesn't look quite correct because I have plenty of old worn guns that went thru WWII and yours does not look like the ones I have. Use Birchwood Casey Aluminum black to restore slight mistakes and not paint.

Hi, nice boat. But why you didn't built from aluminium ? Aluminium boat lite and you can use it longer than wooden boat.
