urgently looking for some synthetic djembe skin like this, any suggestions where I can purchase?
Fascinated by this. We live in damp conditions here in the UK while djembe is becoming increasingly popular, meaning the market for this type of product is huge.. Please please please ...where can we buy some ??
What an awesome tool! Only problem i see is how it grabs the rope to tighten? I have a bougarbou with a much thicker skin and it requires a lot more muscle to stretch the head than on a djembe. I could see after a lot of use, that the cleat that grabs the rope, will begin to shred the rope? I have used manual cleat pullers before, and also attached a cleat to a long bar, which makes pulling verticals easier, however it shreds rope too. I loosen my heads after playing, and tighten to tune during use. Am 72 with back problems, and have a harder time tuning as I've gotten older. I use my standard congas more often at gigs now as they can be tuned with a wrench, but i sure miss the sound of my rope tuned bougarbou's! I specified the dimensions of those drums, and had Drumskulls in Santa Cruz, Ca. use their carvers in Africa to create the shells. They sourced the skins, and did all the head and rope work, and shipped the drums to me in Hawaii. Those folks produce some of the most amazing drums for anyone looking to purchase fantastic sounding instruments? Ive been playing professionally for over 50 yrs.,and have made a few of my own drums, so i do have some experience with drums. Your tool design is the best I've seen available for djembes. Can't speak about durability because i don't own one to test. Thanks for sharing!🤙
Thank you. Currently, the anti slip nails on the tools may cause damage to the ropes when subjected to excessive tension. For example, if the pulling force exceeds 150 kilograms. I have been searching for a better anti slip nail and currently have a new design that is being tested. I hope it can be produced smoothly this year. Please follow my Facebook, thank you again!
Loved your video. Where can I get the skin? Or can I make it on my own?
It is a kind of fiberskin remo bass drum head? It looks very similar.
It's not REMO, it's our self-developed biomimetic skin with a polyester film with a fiber layer.

It does not require water and is stretched to its maximum tension.
@@zebradjembeThat's great, thank you!! I have a Mali djembe that needs some TLC 😊 One more question. What are the names of the tools you use to pull the rope tight? Where can i buy them?
@@greencasestudy This is my invention of portable Djembe puller, which is mainly used for professional level Djembe users. Especially the quality of the rope must be high-grade nylon rope. And it requires someone with experience in drum construction to use it. If you are sure you want to purchase and can use PayPal for payment, where are you? Its price is $160+shipping.
@@zebradjembe oh i see, that's a great invention. A bit too expensive for me, because i just need to do one drum, but a great price for djembe builders. 👍 Could you recommend a simple, cheaper method for me? I work in the construction industry, so i know how to use tools. 🔨🪚🔩🪛
@@greencasestudy Yes, if you're not a professional drum builder, there's no need to buy it. You can take a look at my other video. A simple tool. But you also need to make it yourself. ruclips.net/video/F7AP6pwswg0/видео.html

That actually explains a lot thanks for this
That's it ... what pulling table? You don't need more of that 👍 Just keep it simple.. it works 😀
Simple, easy to carry, and easy to control force.

Won't the top ring be too high on the shell ?
Look at the next episode, ruclips.net/video/dqdLr9PDpjc/видео.html 。 After initial tightening, it is already a bit lower than the drum surface. After the skin is dry and tightened with tools, the distance is just right. The distance between the drum surface and the ring is 1 cm.
I see this pulling only the first row of ropes. Will this also pull once I get to pulling diamond patterns? I have a bugarabou, which is a drum much like a djembe, however with a much thicker skin. It needs much more pulling power than the thin skin of a djembe. Is this made of heavy duty steel? ...Thanks
Good afternoon. Can you tell me where to buy a fiberskin without a rim?
Just contact me. My Facebook zebra djembe
It's very expensive and it hurts the rope, mine is just left without use for this reason.
Hello Rafa, is your tool still unusable? Have you tried the advice I gave you? Because of its great tension, it requires high quality of rope. I have used it to tune hundreds of drums over the years, and there is no problem. This video is also a technology for sharing tension. I hope you can try it again and contact me if you have any questions.
@@zebradjembe Tried everything and used the best rope I found. It's just inevitable, if you tune a soloist djembe properly this is not the appropriate tool due to its design.
