    On bigger saws, Stihl recommends bar oil 0:06 only, its more tacky and sticks better to the chain keeping the chain and bar from getting hot. Stihl has a smaller battery saw, the GTA 26, it has a 4” bar and weighs 2.7 lbs. It doesn’t have a reservoir for bar oil but it comes with a small bottle of Multi Oil from Stihl which you apply to the chain each time you operate. It is not as tacky as bar oil and it is 90% biodegradable, 90% produced from biodegradable renewable raw materials. www.stihlusa.com/products/gardening-tools/battery-hand-tools/gta26/

    I much prefer the big brother of this model. I have an older version of the EU 7000 is. I love mine & extol its virtues to anyone willing to listen. There is no better endorsement than from an owner. I bought mine 7 years ago from a Honda dealer brand new. I have ours to back feed our house when the power goes out. It will even run our 2-1/2 ton Trane central air. I will admit I have a soft start kit on my central air condenser. What a lot of people don’t know is that Honda generators are conservatively rated down in capacity. I have tested mine & it will deliver up to 9200 watts before tripping out. It’s rated at 5500 watts with a 7000 watt surge. With my entire house on I typically run at 3650 watts at 240 volts. That’s a 27 cuft freezer. A 27 cuft refrigerator. A 19 cuft refrigerator. We have a propane stove & dryer. With an after market auxiliary fuel tank of 6 gallons I got 42 hours of run time. The Honda has electronic fuel injection so it syphons fuel from the auxiliary fuel tank at the same rate as the main tank. Here’s the last big endorsement. I’m a power lineman for the local power company. I trust the Honda to start every time on the first start. That’s very important for my family. The last thing I want to hear from my wife is that the generator won’t start? It’s the best generator money can buy. It’s the only one I trust in a roll out. In all my travels I’ve only seen one like mine back feeding after a storm. After storm Isais in the northeast I came home in the morning after working a 24 hour shift to a warm shower & a cool house on our Honda. I slept like a baby until it was time to go back to work. We were out of power for 3 days & the Honda never let us down. It ran the entire three days without interruption. I only had to refuel the auxiliary twice. We burned 22 gallons of gas. I was impressed! If you want to see it running in my enclosure? Look at my home page & watch the two videos I have. It’s ultra quiet at 54 decibels on economy. 58 decibels non economy.

      By the way I rarely lose power as we are on a back bone (main line). My first & most important decision on buying our house is that we are on the direct feed from the substation. Then we looked at the house. Our generator has only had the basic of maintenance. I change the oil once a year with Mobil 1. I pump out the old fuel that is pretreated with preservatives after a year & use that in my trucks. It starts & runs like a Swiss watch. It has the original spark plug, air filter, fuel filter, replaced the battery etc. I must admit it has less than a hundred hours on it. It has more hours testing it to be sure it starts & provides power. I have everything for a full tune up incase I need to do that. As well as the service manual.

      @@johnclyne6350 Honda says the EU7000 holds 5.1 gallons of gas, and will run 16 hours at 25% load, which is .31 gallons per hour. You're saying yours will run 42 hours with an additional 6 gallons of fuel, which works out to .26 gallons per hour. Is that correct?

      @johnclyne6350 Месяц назад

      @@jmljml5065 Is .05 gallons an hour difference really something to argue over? It’s semantics at that point. The real answer is it doesn’t matter to me. I store 111 gallons of gas at my house at all times. That’s enough fuel to last 3 weeks. I purposely bought our house so it was on 3 phase backbone circuit. Those are the first circuits restored after a storm. The longest we have been out of power was 5 days when 96% of the state was plunged into darkness. They lost transmission lines & scores of substations. We’ll have more than enough fuel for anything thrown at us as far as a storm. We might be giving some of it away to folks we know that didn’t plan as well as we did? Based on the comments here scores of people make mistakes. I have the inside knowledge as a power lineman that as the globe warms we’ll have more frequent storms & those storms will be more unpredictable & stronger. I have seen it already. The trend is people need to wise up & have system redundancies at home for the unexpected. Or live with a lot less & stop complaining why the power is not back on after a day.

    All you people complaining that it'll throw rocks and stuff at WOT need to learn how to use a trimmer. The line should never touch anything but grass. If it touches the ground, you're digging in the dirt, often useful, but hardly a job for a string trimmer.

It was my first time to own a String Trimmer, and since we were "professionals" I oped for what was considered the best that the time. He used to get irritated at me because, without meaning too, I would run my trimmer at full throttle while trimming. "Back off the gas", he would tell me. I didn't know any better so I tried. Now I find out I was actually doing it right. Ron? Are ya listening?

    Yesterday I took out my brand new Champion generator added oil, and gas and attempted to start it. Guess what, it would not start. I am a job site with no power and loosing money by the minute. Called Champion and was on hold for an hour before I got technical help. After another hour of pulling this wire, that wire, draining gas, etc tech advised me that they would send me a new Voltage, Fuel, and Oil diode in hopes of repairing the generator. I should get it in 5 to 7 days. Moral of the story....Spend the extra on a Honda, especially if you'll need it in a emergency.

      @christopherhorton821 3 месяца назад

      Pull the spark plug out and put a small amount of gas in the cylinder chamber. Then re install the spark plug. It should start right up. If it quits running then either your fuel is shut off, or you have a issue with the carburetor. If it's a inverter generator the holes for the fuel in the carb at the points are so small that any trash from inside the gas can clog it. Including dried stuff from the ethanol inside your gas can itself. My Pulsar 2200 watt inverter generator stated to not want to start when I tried to run it. I ended up buying a couple brand new gas can, and then bought the very expensive premium non ethanol gas to put in it. After pulling the spark plug, and getting it started. I ran it for about 4 hours, and now it starts and runs without a issue. I'm not sure if you purchased a inverter generator, but those really hate running gas with ethanol, and even small pieces of trash can stop them up. Also most inverter generators have to be level. They have a safety shutoff in the oil to keep the generator from starting or running when the generator is at a angle. Since the oil level is off when they are not level the sensor thinks that there is no oil.

Some people think the throttle should be nursed up and down, high speed for just a few seconds then let off, and repeat. Some think it is best to keep it running at full bore for quite a while.
