    Another interesting video. I have some 22mm calibrated slate to lay. I already have the pro-prime for priming and flow point for grouting. Would the semi-dry mix work for this or am I best sticking to a 5:1 wet mix?

      Hey Jack, Absolutely, a semi dry mix would work for you...it would stop adjacent slabs from moving as you tap new ones in which is a particular benefit with lots of different sizes. For primer, we use Proprime from ultrascape, I normally buy in a bunch from the paving experts site

    Looking good, looks like your bedding them onto a primer? So a mortar bed? If you're using flexible joint product (KDS), why aren't you laying on a flexible/permeable bed? Genuine constructive question, you do great work and I enjoy and support your channel.

    • @PavedinStoneLtd
      @PavedinStoneLtd 3 месяца назад

      Good question. In this instance, given the tolerance in the brick, I wanted to make sure they were all firmly seated into the laying course so I chose a semi dry mix ( permeable ), and a poured on bridge bond to lock all the bottoms together and mitigate any lateral movement. These bricks are all 125mm plus so I'm pretty confident the laying course will be safe from thermal flex

    • @PavedinStoneLtd
      @PavedinStoneLtd 4 месяца назад

      Too many variables in there to give a set answer. The problem with a wet mix, and imminent rain, is that it can seep in through the joints, and if it's heavy rain, the water can break the seal between mortar and slab. Not so much of a problem with semi dry, as the water can travel through easier.

    • @PavedinStoneLtd
      @PavedinStoneLtd 4 месяца назад

      I like to use a company called Diamond Discs Direct. The Hero blade is for porcelain, and I like the Fury blade for natural stone. I do all my cutting with an electric Stihl saw, I know some ppl use wet saw benches but that's not my preference. In terms of method, we usually try and cut on a bed of sand to minimize the vibration. Then cut the 2 ends of the cut line, around 50mm to help remove the tension in the unit before cutting the line. I also find that where the porcelain comes from makes a big difference to how well it cuts. Italian made is nearly always decent, as is Polish. I tend to avoid anything from Spain, Turkey or India as inhale found these a nightmare to cut in the past
