Goldmine
I saw a lot of doomerposting from people I actually respect regarding performance etc leading up to release. There was talk of a one day patch, but heard that before many times. Ended up waiting to see until afternoon after some had already started and how their opinions ended up. It was good, performance issues etc not as bad as mentioned but work could be done. Got it, and absolute fucking blast. Seen a few bugs, but nothing terrible. (perhaps I just got lucky so far?) Overall, tons of fun so far, but it should be even better soon.
I'm gonna read Tony Wolf books about gnomes and dwarves to my kids while listening to this. Can't wait!

I appreciate it. I want to embrace AI but when it comes to music, particularly a genre like DS that prides itself on authenticity, it's really disappointing to see people spam fake DS music all over RUclips.

Thanks! If you're trying to discern AI music here are some things to look out for: 1. Time Cutoff: The most damning evidence is that the songs pretty consistently stop at 4 minutes or less, which is the cutoff for Suno's free version. Often, they stop abruptly before the melody resolves, or even during a buildup. 2. Genre Drift: There's extreme genre drift, and that drift is inconsistent. For example, it's not a cohesive album of "Genre X influenced DS"; it jumps from high-end plugins to analog, to EDM, to trap beats. 3. Compression: The audio is compressed to hell. There are no dynamics-it's all the same volume. Any musician capable of producing music that complex would NEVER compress the hell out of a genre that's meant to be dynamic. There's usually no stereo width, making the whole thing sound congested. 4. Audio Clipping: The audio clips frequently, with occasional distortion. Not in a way that's a stylistic choice. It's jarring.
