You are incorrect about the six shooter. The Colt Single Action was very reliable and accurate and utilized the metallic cartridge and was not a "Cap and Ball" type pistol. That was a few years earlier although those guns too were used throughout the period. The .45 Colt along with other calibers was highly regarded by everyone back then who used one, or wanted to acquire one.

It was Wyatt Earp that lead the vigilante escapes of Tombstone, since the Sheriff was crooked and the courts were bribed by the Cowboys, which were a crime organization led by Ike Clayton. People were stupid for listening to Clayton and Clayton spread a lot of misinformation in the newspapers. The conflict in Tombstone was largely a culmination of North and South Hostilities still festering since the Civil War.

Americans could not fight the british in the open, so they fought more of a gorilla style war including taking cowbells into the woods and clanging them when the Redcoat lines marched down a trail.
