Great trumpet solo! I'm gonna take the liberty and borrow some licks and ideas for my solo on this piece 😊
FANTASTIC!!! I'VE GROWN TO JUST LOVE THIS BAND ON "EVERYTHING" THEY DO!! I ALSO AM A LEAD TPT PLAYER FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS AND STILL HAVE A STRONG DOUBLE G & A. TO ME THE 3 KEY INGREDIENTS TO A GREAT JAZZ BAND ARE STRONG BASS AND DRUMMER, AND A LEAD TRUMPET THAT REALLY KNOWS THE STYLE AND THE BAND LISTENS TO HIM OR HER AND EVERYONE PLAYS JUST A 10 % DYNAMIC UNDER THE LEAD TRUMPET AND KNOWS HOW TO INTERPRET PHRASING FOR THE BAND TO FOLLOW AND EMULATE!! INNER PARTS IN EVERY SECTION SHOULD MAKE SURE THE SECTION IS PLAYING STYLE, DYNAMICS AND PHRASING ESP. SAX SOLIS ON BUDDY'S TUNES WRITTEN BY DON MENZA. YOUR BAND ALWAYS HITS THE BALL OUT OF THE PARK ON EVERY FACET MENTIONED ABOVE. SOLOISTS ARE THE REAL KEY TO A GREAT BAND. YOU CAN HAVE A BAND WITH PHENOMINAL SECTION WORK, BUT WHEN A SOLOIST PLAYS, HE OR SHE SHOULD LISTEN TO THE RECORDINGS OF THE TUNE IF POSSIBLE AND "STEAL" / BORROW IDEAS FROM OTHER SOLOISTS AND NUANCES OF THE TUNE. MEMORIZE THE CHORD PROGRESSION SO IT ALLOWS YOU MORE "FREEDPOM" AS YOU DRAW FROM YOU PRECONCEIVED AND SPONTANIOUS MELODIC LICKS THAT ARE LIKE A STORY BEING TOLD. YOU ARE REALLY TEACHING ALL OF THE ABOVE EACH TIME I HEAR YOU GUYS PLAY!!!! SUPER KUDOS TO THE PLAYERS AND ESPECIALLY CHRIS BRUYA WHO GUIDES YOU DOWN THE PATH OF REAL JAZZ!!!
I like me a woman who’s really good at blowing…….horns!
Who is on 2nd trumpet?
Hannah Mowry, Currently the band director at Roosevelt High School in Seattle
Who's the drummer?
As a lead trumpet player, wow that is one heck of a lead trumpet player. Also this is faster than recorded tempo, bravo.
These kids giving the Berklee crowd a run for their money. Outstanding.
Wish there was more bands like that around
Fabulous performance of the Woody Herman Band arrangement. Sax solo is so touching and outstanding. Great band!!
Great sounding band led by a great musician
Jazz as we like it!
Bravo!
Band sounds great Hannah sounds great& Chris sit down & let someone conduct that stays in rhythm with the arrangement
Who is the trumpet player ??🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥I think hear some Roy Hargrove influence in there
Her name is Hannah Mowry.
@@mikeprevost8650 shes swinging super hard, really really really nice tone and ideas, pretty impressive especially at university level, she's got a bright career ahead
@@timeisnow7676 she opted to become a music educator, which kind of makes me respect her even more. But she plays in gig bands in the Seattle area now. She has a website with a lot of background info. Every soloist I ever heard in this band over the years has great tone as well.
@@mikeprevost8650 Hannah directs Roosevelt HS now! She succeeded the legendary Scott Brown.
Well Done!!
That’s such a cool piece
WHERE IS THE GUITAR????
すごい最後のハイGがちゃんと出てる。
Such a sweet arrangement, and a wonderfully clear recording. Kudos to the engineers!
The sound engineer couldn't catch the flute, though.
Wonderful job! You’ve stolen my heart like the first time I heard CBO play this. Thank You 🙏🏽
Mr. Bruya, your mastery of the basie style is wonderful and your students are amazingly talented! I have played sammy's arrangements as a lead trumpet player and as the director of my own, adult jazz ensemble in Troy, Ohio and your band has the best interpretation I've ever heard since The Count passed away!
nice soloist
nice trumpet solo❣️
They make a great sound. I think I'll wait a bit longer to get my crowd together.
Everyone is so talented. Makes it even harder when you have to record on your own due to COVID, and it still sounds great!
Such an awesome and unique chart! Great memories reading this down in Jazz 1. Props to Prof. Bruya and the team at CWU for the countless hours of editing to make these 👍🏻 Sounds great
Yeah, Mike R!
ruclips.net/video/CRwrD7ntYdY/видео.html he has a solo on here!

Such fun to see the band doing so well. All my kids have iOS devices which won't work with BandLab. Any advice would be great.
Amazing intonation given the format! Great job everyone, kudos Jacob!
I like it a lot.
Bravo!!
Wow! This is Awesome!❤️🎷🎸🥁🎻🎺❤️
Yes!!!!!! Sounding great folks
Loved the tenor solo!!
Wooo!! Great job!!
Excellent job, everyone! Especially in difficult circumstances. Ensemble work clean and crisp. Nice solo work!
Swingin!! 😎

Great solo! But this lady has no freckles so the title is confusing (-;
But she has chops and can improvise like hell. She knew where she was going with that solo all the way through.
in all these videos i see one thing . They rhythm sections are always so "light in the pants"" Ie Zero drive! Usually the ensemble is good! However the Rhythm sections are never really laying it down!
what is the 2nd tenor doing with his neck bruh
I can sense Hannah's tone sounds a bit like Bob Mitchell of the CBO
Only thing missing is Freddie Green's chunky quarter note guitar comping ;)
That is a gorgeous performance of Thad's tune, well done.
That is terrific
That is fabulous, lovely punchy ensemble ensemble and four fabulous solos by unnamed individuals.
Henry Sparks, trombone. Hannah Mowry, trumpet Not sure on the two altos.
Lovely ensemble performance and a splendid solo too, I enjoyed that.
WOW! That was something else. Beautiful trombone playing and section lead. Superb drum solo too.
This is just Tooooooooo GOOD!!
Outstanding
Lovely
