Husky Puppies - How To Prevent Future Biting
Hi Everybody!
The girls are now about 8 months old and I wanted to share a number one training tip that we've done since they were 8 weeks old. By simply rubbing your puppy down from head-to-toe and inside the mouth and the roof of their mouth is super important. We did this everyday for a little over a month and it was definitely worth it. We took a visit to the vet recently and the doctor told us they were impressed with no nipping or biting. Although they were a bit frightened of the vet (because he was new to them), they let him put his hands in their mouth and all around the body without nipping. If your dogs are around kids often, I would highly recommend doing this to ANY puppy that...

Husky Puppies - Tips

Hi Everybody! It has been a while since I've posted something so here it is. The girls are now almost 8 months and have grown so much since they first arrived. Both are hovering around the 40lb mark and are probably going to put on another 10lbs in the next few months. They're actually quite small for their size but with 2 of them in the house...I'm okay if they turn out to be a little smaller ...

    You are a flogger, scourger,. torturer. You should not be giving advice. If an owner wants a dog and is willing to put the dog in a crate he or she should not buy a dog. Go out and tell a police officer he is a NAZI pig. While you are in jail you will understand that you have put your dog in jail. Give your dogs to someone who loves his dog more than jailing him for more than 8 hours a day. You just do not know how to train your dog. Stop advising

    If your dog is destroying your house, it's because his needs are not being fulfilled, they surely need more physical activity. So people please, if you know you won't have enough time to do activities with your dog, do not get one, specially not a husky, they are very demanding. And they are not "prone to escape" or "born house destroyers", those are myths, they just need to be active so they do not mess things up around your house.

    A question about the ‘one walk a day’. I had a soft-coated wheaten terrier, and the general advice that we got for her and all other dogs is that they need one long trip, an hour or so, every day and two short trips, 20-30 minutes, every day. We did that. How is a husky different? One walk a day seems like very little activity for such an active dog.

    • @Showmetheevidence-
      @Showmetheevidence- 2 года назад

      More active in general but it depends on the dog & breed. We had 2x husky-cross-Alsatian’s. Most incredible dogs we ever had but they had a fairly big garden to keep themselves entertained if we weren’t around.

    I would say a lot of that is true but every dog is different. My husky, Kronos, would be very quiet at home but if I left him in front of a store he would be whining and howling the whole time (usually only 5 min). Brushing: Kronos hated being brushed so I only did it for 5 minutes sometimes several times a day. Kronos would never poop near the house so if he had to go @ 3AM I’d have to take him for a 30 min walk. Going for his evening walk/ run just b4 I went to bed mostly solved this. Depending on their surroundings they can be very clean or not. Kronos’ previous owner often caught him rolling in manure but w/ me he was extremely clean, I never had to give him a bath in the 3 yrs I had him. Many huskies are aloof, Kronos especially so. He would often be more affectionate w/ strangers than me. He liked being near me just not touched much (if I was petting him he’d usually get up & walk away w/in 2 min). His energy level was extreme at first when I got him. I had to take him on a 5 mile run w/ my bike twice daily & weigh him down w/ water bottles so I could keep up just to mellow him out a bit. Huskies do best if they have a job. If you don’t give them one they might pick one you don’t like. Luckily for me Kronos decided he was head of security at the dog park. He’d let other dogs know if they were too rough & broke up 5 fights b4 us humans could get there. Huskies are prone to cataracts & epilepsy & Kronos had both. His seizures kept getting worse, needing stronger meds, lowering his energy level & if did too much could cause a Grand Mal later that day, eventually killing him at the relatively young age of 7.5. Near the end he still LOVED to run but could only go for one mile 2Xs per wk in addition to his daily walks.

      @@omgdisfunny4852 I got Kronos from his prev owner who was moving to where she couldn’t have pets, ~ a month after his 4th b-day. I knew he had epilepsy & was prone to seizures but well under control. After 6 mo he got Lime disease (almost died at the vet hospital), then his seizures started getting worse, needing more & more medication. He started of w/ a mod dose of 1 med but by the end he was on max dose of 4, but still having several mild seizures per wk & a Grand Mal ~ every 1-2 wks in spite of a special diet, multiple chiropractic & acupuncture sessions (at first they seemed to help). Upon reflection I wasn’t given the best advice from my main vet. If I had done some of the the stuff I was doing at the end much earlier (special diet, acupuncture, & chiropractic), I think I could have extended his life a couple of yrs. The critical part of his prescribed diet was MCT oil (derived from coconut oil) & was 1/10-1/4 the cost from the local health food store as the official prescription food. Kronos needed twice as much as was in the prescription food, which ended up being 2 Tbs per day. Any more made him throw up. I tried CBD oil early on but I didn’t notice an improvement, perhaps I wasn’t giving him enough (I couldn’t find anybody to give a recommended dose & it was expensive).

      In my opinion breed isn’t really that important, it’s more about the time and effort you put into training and socialising your puppy. You could have the best breed in the world on paper, but with no effort into training would create multiple problems. Get whatever dog you think suits you, and develop a training program to end up with the perfect dog 👍

    Even puppies can sense humans' moods and adjust. I could make my puppies quiet very fast. But, of course when they are small, some times you just do what they want. I usually start serious training of my dogs at about 6 months, because I found out that after that training becomes much more difficult and you end up with dogs that developed own stubborn traits. Puppies need to see when it is time for play and when it is not. I love to play with my dogs, but they must be trained also.

  • @accountone4380

    Quick question, did you crate train them? If no, how long did it take for you to fully potty train them (like no more accidents)? Due to personal issues I’m not able to crate train. So far potty training is going well if I get the timing right and take him outside as much as I can but accidents still happen. He is 4.5 months now. I just wanna know if he will learn how to hold his pee or poo if he’s not crate trained.

    • @sontonthewonton2185
      @sontonthewonton2185 2 года назад

      Yes, I did crate train them but they still had accidents. The process that worked for us was making sure they were taken outside every time they went to the washroom and regulating their water in take until they were fully potty trained. We made sure they were always being watched when not crated to ensure they didn’t get to potty in the house! It’s definitely tough but it gets better. I think they started to understand fully around 6 months. It was lots of waking up in the middle of the night because they learned at different paces.
