Why don’t you cut the grass along roadsides earlier? When will my road be mowed? How does Council schedule it’s Fire Slash Program? These are some of the commonly asked questions we are asked as we enter fire season preparations, so we’ve put together this video explaining how our annual Fire Slashing Program works. For more information or to check if a road is on the program, visit www.yarrara...

5 years later.....................
Lock it up do what you do best yarra rangers ...
Love it. I remember watching the construction from our house back then. Also taking my first kayaking rounds there. Do they still have the recycling-regatta event there?
Before the lake the town centre used to be flooded after each heavy rain. Since then - NOTHING! The same lake is needed at Healesville, to stop floods in the Yarra valley downstream.
Lilydale fooods all teh time, mate. The weatehr has changed from 50 year floods to floods every year.
i enjoy the fruits of their endeavors on a weekly basis
Well not quite as planned. Reeds clogging the lake, water quality very poor, wouldn't eat anything caught in the lake.
Nooo! Why not reopen it?
And here we are in 2022 still waiting.
It’s all gone quiet on this , is it still on ?
Please actually make this, years have passed by.
The area has been assed out not grassed
The facial hair could have held back floods
My thought too. The "porn star 'tache" was big back then.
What a bunch of ignorant assholes. Why aren't they running a electric suburban train to Healesville?.Has anybody actually asked the people of Yarra Glen, Coldstream and Healesville if they wanted a train service? Why is Mernda, Craigieburn and Cranbourne getting trains and not Healesville? Fuckin ridiculous. 👎
It's December 2021 and it's disappointingly quiet...
Typical Shire of Yarra Ranges, years and years of meetings and planning and no real action. Too busy fighting legal businesses being built.
What else is going on in Dec 2021? Is covid over yet? :)
So sad, the train should be still running. Healesville area needs the train 🚂 back.
If people had used the railway for goods and passengers it would have been retained. But people prefer to drive their car. They like the freedom to get a truck load of goods delivered to their door. So no matter what benefits a railway could have provided it cannot be economic without substantial use.
@@smitajky difference between modern age and older decades!
Most industrial companies have already packed up and left the area.
Gud like
This will be fabulous for Melbourne and the local community especially as overseas travel will be very different going forward. A similar but smaller scaled Mountain bike park at Red Hill using the chairlift may make that utility viable. Well done to the Yarra Ranges Council and Parks Victoria for the foresight to commit to this
Are there any updates on the progress?
This will be good for the Yarra Valley... I hope its not all caught up in greenie red tape... surely we can just get this done. The environmentalist get way out of control... the possums will move to other trees.. seriously.... We have become a society that gets nothing done due to a minority constantly having a major say and complaining. The economy around Warburton needs this .... the bush in this area is resilient and strong and we don't need to crazy about putting a few bike tracks through it... Hopefully it gets done in the next year so we can all enjoy it...
I hear it has been totally stalled by greenie red tape. Crazy when you consider the devastation the feral Deer have made on Donna Buang.
I thought the red tape was an excuse brought on by a connected local minority who aren't in favour and don't want 'outsiders' enjoying their patch. No other trail projects have had quite the level of required studies so I've read. I wouldn't mind betting some greenies want to hit the trails too :) At least when it's finalised it won't be a case of neglecting any impact studies.
Whats the update on this?
Looks magic. I'll come for a drive and check it out when it's done. Need something different to Queensland's scrub and rubble.
Follow up?
Weird....I have had home in Croydon since 1994, and I only discovered this lake about two years ago!! What a discovery!
It's a lot better than Ringwood Lake, that one is trash.
Awesome initiative and a credit to all involved for the years of planning and hard work. A massive boon for Warburton that provides an environmentally sustainable economic future. Can't wait to see it finished.
With the population of melb now there will be a rail link just like Sth Morang-Whittlesea!
yeah in 2050
Looks like it's being handled in a wonderful manner - environmental and cultural impacts being kept to a minimum. I've ridden the trails in Derby, made by World Trail - they will be awesome !
Bring it on!
Thank you Yarra Rangers Council for all your great work.
Whos going to pick up all there rubbish and plastic water bottles ?
i think youre mistaking mountain bikers for idiots. Mountain bikers are inherently nature lovers and being away from the city is the prime reason for biking
I am a mountain biker and love nature. I pick up rubbish on almost every ride I go on. Ps: mountain bikers usually carry reusable water containers. Thank you for your concern.
Most of the rubbish you might come across in the forest is dumped by bogan picnickers, half-wit 4WDers, or locals trying to dump their overfull domestic rubbish bin. ALL of them will have brought it there in motor cars, not on MTBs.
Mountain bikers are almost entirely nature enthusiasts, and would rarely own bring a single use plastic water bottle into the forest, let alone leave it there.
Hopefully the 4wd campers and hunters who leave them...
Hope that people look beyond the pretty pics & listen to what is being said. The weekend recreational pursuits of a few, shouldnt be put above the lifestyles of those that actually live in the area. So many more issues & questions yet to be answered.
Donna Mcintosh hope you are all OK then with closing down all of the Warburton cafes, removing those annoying signed walking tracks, and pulling out all visitor facilities at Mount Donna Buang, Upper Yarra Dam, and other “abused” tourist sites. Yeah, can’t have useless visitors coming to spend money in your town, just gives the yobbo locals too much money to spend on their drug-habits.
Geez nice to know how you feel about the area & the locals.
5 months the vids been up and only 4.5k views. Sounds like it has massive interest.. 😂 wheres the 100k+
Donna Mcintosh this is the only place I have been where locals put sings like,”No more mountain bike trails”,our backyards are not mountain bike trails etc. Also sings on a trail we where damaged or completely missing.I don’t understand how can someone do that. But then I find you in the comments.
@@mehurtmyfinger I guess not everybody that rides bikes off road wants to watch a video from a council about an environmental assessment. Can't wait to see the project done and done right.
Great job so far. Looking forward to seeing the end result.
Wow! ❤️🚲
Gender neutral change rooms? Are the men and women getting changed in the same space?
Great work!
Such a shame we can’t have a railway as well.
Hi Donald, Thanks for your comment! Planning for the trail has involved working with Yarra Valley Railway, including agreement regarding the sharing of facilities at the Yarra Glen Station and keeping the option open for a tourist railway between Yarra Glen and Lilydale in the future. The existing train tracks between Lilydale and Yarra Glen would not be able to support a train in their current state. Extensive bridge and rail construction works would also be required to accommodate any future rail provision along this corridor. I hope this helps! All the best, Jesse
Yarra Ranges Council You people don’t think enough. Would have been a lot better for your council, the state government, the community, local business, train buffs etc to reconstruct it to its original condition. I thought The Yarra Valley was a prime tourist area for people to get away from Melbourne. Wouldn’t it a positive initiative to bring more people to the area? How about a wine and dinner train through the wineries? Make it special for people to get out like the old days?. No? Ok..
So what happened to reopening the railway for historical use?
It’s far too expensive and Yarra Valley Railway don’t even own this land. They were not going to extend anytime soon so this is a better use.
Are the rails going to the Yarra Valley Railway or one of the other tourist railways?
Amazing news, our school has been waiting for this to start happening for ages!
Love the work site safety clothing... these days hi vis.... back then...dull looking cardigan. Good stuff
I have been there. It is a nice country park.
Good to know Melbourne always had unpredictable weather!
It's probably been like that since settlement.
Floods like that used to be a 50 year event... now we have them every year and the lake is no longer able to hold the growning amount of water from flooding the township. Things have dramitically changed out here.
Interesting. Do you happen to remember which years and where along the creek?
It was SO different then! Before the lake was built, I remember the creek being crystal clear as it crossed Maroondah hwy in Lilydale. It is NOT clean now!
Urban Fisho .. sorry mate, can't agree. I live there for 20 years, played in the creek when I was a kid. The water was never clear. It was always silty in normal times and very brown/red in flood time.
David Millsom Ok, just strange cos I DO recall it being very clear a few times when I was in Lilydale, back in my late teens before the lake was built. Not saying it WAS all the time, as I don't live in that area, but when I did see it, it was clean.
@@DavidMillsom what gives you the right to even comment you didn't even live in the area before the filthy lake was built the water used to be crystal clear you could see the bottom of the creek from hull road to the yarra river or ( Birmingham rd ) if you have lived in the area before the road names were changed it was amazing the amount of schools of fish that were in the creek most were Estuary Perch as there was hardly any carp back then even see eels they were a light color compared to the ones you see now any way my point is 27yrs in the area is nothing everyone i know has lived in the area for at least 35yrs or more a lot for 50+yrs
@@ruffnut743 1. This is a public forum so I, like anyone else, have a right to comment. 2. I lived in Lilydale between 1950 and 1967. 3. I visited the creek very often as a kid. 4. I particularly remember the time when the local pool was filled from the creek every summer (that was before the new, chlorinated pool was built ) I particularly remember that because I got an ear infection from it. That's why the local doctors lobbied the council to rebuild the pool. I cannot comment in the quality of the water at Swansea road because I don't recall checking it out there.
