Are Indie Comics the Way of the Future?
I remember playing overwatch the first year it came out. I wasn't even a big fan of team shooters. I just got it cause a girl I liked played it. Yet, I had so much fun playing matches, i mained Junkrat and Roadhog, never focused on comp at all. Just stuck to quick play and the arcade mode for the loot boxes. I enjoyed it, but I think it was around the time they introduced Brigitte that started to to notice that I was enjoying the game less and less. It wasn't even the fault of the new characters it was the devs constantly pushing for people to play around the character. Whenever they rolled out a new update, they'd nerf characters so they could fit the new heros playstyle. Which is a HORRIBLE model to follow. So now, the heroes i enjoyed playing had all changed so drastically, or they were powercrept to being obsolete. Add onto that, every new hero had some form of stun ability or a way to perma lock an objective or put a debuff on you. I just wasn't having fun anymore. Every game was tedious, and the same ball up the hill. I stopped playing around 2019ish. I'll pick it up every now and then but the matches I play are no where near as fun as those first 2-3 years. I enjoyed the time I had in the early days, but thats all it is. A memory.
Another banger from Paragon Standard. This channel don't miss
Thanks for sticking around! More videos on the way soon - Alex
Maybe you didn't fall out of love with a game - you simply completed your arc. There's something noble about resisting the lure of the algorithm and not giving in to the pre-programmed buzz games are now created to generate in us. Just like people, games come into our lives for a reason, or a season. "If you love someone" (or a game), "set them free" - Anon and Sting "If they return, they are yours. If they don't, they never were."
What’s your best and worst gaming memory?
Best: Playing Doom for the first time on release (having installed it from 7 floppy discs. Yes, I am that old) Worst: Epic Games using Fortnite Save the World's gaming environment and characters to create Fortnite Battle Royale, then shutting off funding to STW because Fortnite BR became such a cash cow and phenomenon.
Best Memory: maybe when I completed Halo 3. Worst Memory: pretty much any Sonic game when I reach a stage that frustrates me enough to quit
@@NattyB961 "maybe"? You didn't feel epic during that last warthog run or bringing the narrative of the trilogy to a close? Or maybe it's not one specific memory/event you're thinking of fondly. For me it was many sessions of Halo campaigns or multiplayer after school that I looked forward to the most. - Alex
Bruh, the narrator's voice for this video is amazing. It's like taking a bath while drinking a black coffee. 10/10 would listen to you read the dictionary
That's really kind of you to say! I've gotten compliments on my voice before but never had it phrased like this 😅 If you want more of this kind of smooth narration then why not subscribe to the channel? EUCALYPTUS!
Nice video! I agree it's a bit unsettling to see RUclips change so drastically, with more and more videos feeling like film productions than something genuine as the years go on. It's almost like it's less about the "You" and more about the "Tube" these days, even though that "You" has been what's made RUclips so unique all this time. But I like your advice at the end of the video. It's easy to forget how much power viewers have. It gives me hope :)
That's a really neat and poignant way of putting it. Don't get me wrong, the film production elements of some RUclipsrs do add really great value that traditional TV can't consistently provide anymore, but I agree that they're lacking the "You" part. And I appreciate you watching all the way to the end! Whether it's financial or otherwise I hope you go and support some of your favourite creators. - Alex
Great video. I miss the old Funhaus and Achievement Hunter crew.
Yeah same here. What I'd do to get another GTA 4 let's play or a Hitman series with the original crew before everything changed. Do you find yourself going back to some of their videos sometimes? - Alex
@@ParagonStandard If I can find anything to watch on RUclips I'll put on some old AH or Funhaus videos.

My guess is that like many things in life, this is all about money. One big money grab. The more success, the more money made and the more money, the more money-grabbing takes hold. Killing the Golden Goose.
This is so underrated
Thanks for saying so! It's hard to break through the noise of the algorithm, especially for a small channel like ours, so your comment really helps out. - Alex
Who's your favourite OG content creator?
Although they are at the topic of this video I really do standby rooster teeth being one of my favorite OG’s. The one channel I continue to watch it has been around for quite a long time is Vinny vine sauce and Joel vine sauce. We live in a world nowadays where types of communities that rooster teeth built from a shared love of content aren’t as impactful. Watching this video reminded me of the days when I used to play on the rooster teeth community Minecraft server. I have always dreamed of working for achievement hunter or one of the other Rooster teeth subsidiaries as a kid. These days the dream of being a RUclipsr and a major Content creator is so far behind me because of how social media and content creation has changed.

Lost was amazing, till they complicated unnecessarily the plot and took them out of the island. That's why you keep things as they needed to be keeped. If the show needs more seasons like Rome or Marco Polo you give them more seasons. If it needs to be keeped short like Lost you do that. If the show is a$$ like Batwoman you end it after the first episode.
yes, they can't end shows properly.
1. Write crazy interesting premise that gets greenest 2. Pay close attention to fan discussions on where they think it will go 3. Pick and combine the best ones for a better ending than overpaid writers could ever come up with 4. Profit
Breaking Bad, Star Wars, Game of Thrones
GOT was an example of a bad ending, no?
Come on!!! At least in the last of the Timelords it was kinda established
... Neil Gaiman wrote this episode, sooooooo 🤨
Really? I knew he wrote some episodes for DW but I couldn't find anything about his involvement with Blink. You have any sources? Would love to find out more - Alex
I think I'm wrong. I could have sworn there was an interview where he talked about no one wanting this episode because it didn't have the doctor in it, but I can't find it now. He says how much he loves it in a lot of interviews, but his first episode was The Doctor's Wife.
@@ParagonStandard"No, look, there's a blue box. It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. It can go anywhere in time and space and sometimes even where it's meant to go. And when it turns up, there's a bloke in it called The Doctor and there will be stuff wrong and he will do his best to sort it out and he will probably succeed 'cause he's awesome. Now sit down, shut up, and watch 'Blink'." Neil Gaiman
I found the WonderCon footage that quote is from, which was amazing to hear from the man himself, so thanks for highlighting that. And I definitely don't doubt his praise for the series or that episode in particular, there's just nothing to indicate he wrote that episode specifically. Would be cool if he did, but alas I couldn't see his name in the credits of Blink. Moffat can go a little overboard sometimes with narratives and twists imo, but he deserves full credit for Blink which is amazing through and through. Regardless, thanks for watching this Short and commenting on it. Hope you're watching the new series and enjoying it as much as I am! - Alex
This is why out of all types of shows, time travel shows are the most needing of proper continuity.
The very notion of "proper continuity" kind of gets lost when half the main characters are travelling back and forth through their own timelines. You can really only have a subjective "proper" continuity for one character, from every other reference frame it's a mess
Don't really see the problem with this in the context of a kids TV show, it covers what's necessary and at the same time became one of the most iconic lines in the show's history
I feel I misunderstood are you calling doctor who a kids tv show or saying that wording would work in a kids tv show
@@buffbarney2648 I'm saying that doctor who, although not being entirely a kid's show, has to remain accessible to and entertaining for kids. It's also a fairly accurate, albeit heavily watered down, explanation of how time would work in a universe with time travel
my favorite doctor ^^
He was a lot of people's favourite for good reason! I guess that's part of the reason why he wasn't just the 10th but also the 14th incarnation - Alex

Sorry Tyrion, pretty much everyone else has a better story than Bran the Whatnow? 🤡
I still think about the ending of the shield. Unexpected, chilling and perfect for the characters.
I heard about the shield but never got around to watching it. It's a really long running series right? Shows that go on for that long tend to run out of steam before they can get to a satisfactory finale so from what you're saying that's impressive. I'm looking for stuff to watch so you got any other shows you can recommend?
@@alexransome3841 shield loses steam towards the end but then pulls it back for the finale. Depends what you're into for shows I recently watched the original British house of cards. Dated but brutal and darkly funny. While it was destroyed by critics I also loved the gleeful camp popcorn fodder of obliterated.
@@bengleiss9416 I watched most of the American HoC but wasn't sure what to make of the original. Similar to how the American Office is better than the British one. I do enjoy a dark comedy every know and again (like Barry on HBO) so thanks for the recommendation!
@@alexransome3841 i haven't watched Barry yet but hear good things I will add it to the list. I blame the three headed hydra frank o'conner, kiki wolf kill, and bonnie ross, for the shit that happened. with old 343.
Halo got the way due to the fact guilty spark got his revenge on us. Halo 1-3 343 guilty spark stabs us in the back and when we stopped him in 3 he hatched a plan. He formed 343 industry to systematically chase players off of halo so he can finally have no one left to stop him.
This actually isn't the first time I've heard this, and at this point I'm willing to believe it. Why else would you make the conscious decision to name your company after a character that betrays the player? 🙃 - Alex
Great, another person whining about 343 being bad and halo is dead video that no one asked for, y'all need to come up with some actual original content cause its honestly getting old and repetitive and shows me that this fanbase can never be satisfied no matter what.
Thanks for disliking the video and clicking on this type of content in the first place. You're helping to promote this to the algorithm so thanks. On another note, why not go and show some love to the other content creators and videos out there that have positive things to say (about Halo). You diehard Halo fans just hate anything new or different. You were too hard on Halo 5 and because of that we’re stuck with the quagmire that is Halo Infinite.
Infinite is a fine game. 1,000 X better than halo e imo.
That's false to say the companies laid off workers for "the most capitalist reasons", the reason their products are doing badly and they face layoffs IS DUE TO Leftist communist "Social group" think at the offices, which damages the quality of the products. Because that mentality of social cohesion only seeks to have workers feel good at work, instead of feeling good ABOUT the work they are doing. If all you care about is your friendly attitude in the office, but not about daring to push the quality of the product by stepping on each others toes, then your product WILL be subpar, sales will underperform, and there WILL be layoffs, not due to "capitalism" but due to SOCIALIST communist mentality in offices that seek to NOT push quality and competitiveness in the product, but instead just focusing on their own group think in the office. Not questioning the group, not standing out, not daring to lead the production in a clear direction. This is communist GROUP think. Not Capitalism, that is damaging the product.
I don't know why Bungie thought they couldn't have just made a MMO looter shooter Halo 😭 I actually would have LOVED that! Set it in a new era in the vast Halo universe. Hundreds of years after the Halo Series, new generations of Spartans etc. It's just SUCH a much cooler universe than Destiny. And 343 Halo is garbage. They aren't doing anything with the story anyway. But man... Bungie should have just KEPT making Halo, but in a new format. Would have been cooler.
i am a fan OF THE OLD HALO not this no cop-op and no firer fight or Spartan Ops. it seem like they only care about the people that play vs so i quit playing. i beat the story but have no interest in VS MODES and i used to love playing halo vs i stay up for 4 days straight playing halo reach vs and i stay up 4 days straight playing halo 4 vs but after 4 i just no longer care about vs and wanted more story and Spartan Ops give me that reason to keep playing to they did away with it and then it die for me but i still play the new one and did not care for the story and the show is just really really bad the actor said he cant act with a helmet on so they should of just replaced him with the guy that played in star war the Mandalorian because he proved it could be done very well. but the actor they chose for halo is just too in love with his own face and thinks it will help him so how but it more like ruin him and his career.
You can hope that 343 will go back to making Halo games with 3 or 4 armor sets that you can unlock through gameplay and that's it so everyone looks the same, but the Mark V set alone shot Infinite to #25 top selling on steam. And that was with RUclipsrs and whoever else bitching not to buy anything. That ship sailed homie.
Halo forever!!!! 343 never!!! get the MC to take 343!!!!!!
I think having details left out for characters like Atriox in infinite is good, to an extent, I like finding out completely new information when I'm reading the books, and there's stuff like youtube where you can get that information if you don't want to read or play the other kinds of halo games. If they gave all the information in halo infinite, there wouldn't be much point in me continuing to read the books as I go and hunt down the relics of a better age of gaming and storytelling. Every form of media has taken a hit from the existence of massive corporations and lost significant value. Superhero shows and moves weren't %99 focused on action scenes and just making good looking cgi, they used to have excellent stories deeply flushed out well written characters. Most people don't even know what good storytelling and writing even looks like now, can't even realize how bad the things they give high praise to is barely mediocre. So it will continue, and it will continue to become more and more difficult to find and get good writing and development of any kind from anywhere.
True, it's nice to hunt and delve into lore that isn't otherwise in main content. I happen to be an RTS player as well as an FPS one so Halo Wars 2 was great, story and gameplay wise. However, for a lot of people that wasn't the case. I agree with you that all the narrative info doesn't need to be present in Infinite, but I personally think the ratio is way off in terms of lore in the game versus in other media. And I'm not sure if it's right to expect any audience to actively seek out all this other media just to keep relevant (Marvel comics, TV shows, etc.), or even just to enjoy the good storytelling all these other mediums have to offer as you say. I know that there's great content out there in places like YT that cover these sorts of things, but is it too much to ask for more lore in the mainline games than what we're currently being given? Also don't you have a tonne of questions after playing 4,5, and Infinite (if you have) or has Halo's external media really addressed everything that happened off screen? - Alex
>It's been slowly dawning on me that Halo might not be what it used to. Dawg, if these thoughts are just not entering into your head then I don't know what to tell you.
Sometimes people go away for a while and play other games. Since 343 took over from Bungie they haven't exactly given me many reasons to stick around and fully experience all the changes Halo has gone through over the years. - Alex
Halo, it's finished 😢
I believe the outcry for no split-screen was so short because a lot of us had already realised it wasn't happening and/or had stopped playing Halo.
There was definitely outcry about the co-op. But I think the issue is legit more on the hardware side of X-box. Multiple other games have had similar issues. Laurian even said as such being the reason behind BG3 delayed release on the hardware.
Halo 5s multi-player was fun for me but the campaign sucked, and it was my first halo game too
After 5 have you gotten around to playing any of the other Halo games?
After I finished the campaign yes, I started playing halo reach, then ce, halo 2, 3, 3 odst, then halo 4
God fucking damn it how many of these videos are we going to get? Yeah, we get it, heilo ded, number company bad. You guys can stop making the same fucking video every 2 months now, please
I enjoyed halo 5 .
?
@ParagonStandard in a nutshell, people find joy in the newer games. Sure, it's not like the bungie games, but Halo 5 actually had fun mechanics and story. Halo is not ruined, people just don't want to accept that they don't like change, and that alot of them don't even actually enjoy games anymore. Halo is a god tier game even if 343 isn't doing it exactly like everyone wants. Doesn't matter how different it is, as long as it keeps giving people memories of fun, and nostalgia for later on. Many people say halo is dead, but they don't see the positives and improvement of 343.
@@yourneighborhoodweirdo5257The dedication, hard work, passion, love and true motivating drive for anyone who currently continued to produce Halo stories as the intellectual property that it is, not just as a marketable one but also a property which has *relevant **_AND integrous_* stories is most certainly something that shluld have been done back in 2010 and onward, but that IS NOT and has NEVER truly been the goal of 343 Industries as a whole, even if it was entirely true for a select number of the individual devs earlier on (many of them of course being former Bungie employees themselves). And of course that can obviously apply to _Joseph Staten_ at any point in time as well, as his work can be compared to that of _Marty O'Donnell_ as one of the more notably vital and fundamental contributions to what truly defines Halo. There are 2 other BIG problems you got very incorrect. 1: The OBJECTIVE FACT that Halo 4, 5 and Intinies' very existence is based on a LIE about the original lore/canon and art-style does not make Halo 5 *_unenjoyable for anyone ever, despite your own implication that someone somewhere has apparently argued exactly that thesis._* (I don't believe anyone that I know of was ever arguing that either. I've personaly never heard that in my entire life. I'm certainly not making that argument, never have and never will.) *This is objectively your use of a **_False Cause fallacy,_* and since you truly do seem to care about sharing your passion for stories, I'd kindly and strongly recommend that you REFRAIN from being so dishonest, deceitful and illogical in the future. 2: The second main issue you got very wrong and is actually an extremely sad, "tone-deaf"/"out-of-touch" and serious Logical Fallacy is your own following quote: _"Halo is not ruined, people just don't want to accept that they don't like change, and that alot of them don't even actually enjoy games anymore."_ This is a Straw Man fallacy AND an implied General Sweeping fallacy against ANYONE who would ever dare disagree with your already established _False Cause fallacy_ from before. If you'd care to now dig deeper and clarify your own mistaken implications, intentions and priorities above and/or rectify any fallacious arguments, I'd absolutely love to civilly discuss how best to continue *_focusing on the objective truth_* concerning exactly what it is that makes Halo so wonderful and amazing without any further use of dishonesty or false argumentation from anyone.
@@yourneighborhoodweirdo5257na the story was pretty bad. The weakest of any mainline Halo game. The MP I heard was decent though
@bannanas117 multiplayer was good. You can still find people playing it, at least for the last time I was on, and yeah, I agree. The story wasn't really that good, but either way, people found enjoyment in it, yk. Personally I enjoyed the parts with the arbiter the most, and how you can also find many easter eggs within the mission " I don't remember rn lol" where you could talk to many elites and grunts, and listen to their conversations.
Halo is starting to crumble like Star Wars. Idiots, instead of diehard fans are being used to write the lore. And when they do, they write broken ass lore that breaks continuity.
Bungie wasn't perfect, but they had a passion for Halo. When 343I took over, their first act was to change everything they could: lore, music, art direction, gameplay. I'm sure some employees loved Halo, but the higher ups didn't care about it, and just wanted to milk the series to feed Microsoft's shareholders. After the disappointement that was H4, I took a break from Halo, only to come back when they released the MCC on PC. But then after Infinite's release, I completely lost faith in 343I, because they just butchered Halo for an entire decade, while dividing the fanbase. Now, the only Halo I care about is everything before 2010. I still play the Bungie campaigns regularly on MCC PC, and have more fun with them than many other games.
You WON'T find me making the mistake of conflating all who watch season 2 as inherent Halo fans, but this video was well-made. That GDQ bit was wonderful too.
I didn't think anybody would receive the GDQ section well. Thanks for proving me wrong. - Alex
I have seen this same RUclips video 10 times from like 1 different people go find some other overdone topic to grift Jesus Christ shut up
Microsoft should have kept Bungie and let them do their own projects. And maybe they could have made another Halo game from time to time.
