I bought a used 08 MDX and the HFL doesn't work. I'm guessing they never did the fix caused by the manufacturer. Do you know if buying this unit would allow me to use the HFL button on the steering wheel again?
Hello I realize this video is 3 years Old but I installed this yesterday it’s great but when I don’t have music playing I can faintly hear the xm radio station any word on how to get rid of that ?
@@novanut35 Oh I see that's strange, I was thinking about getting the hon 3 but will it work with a 2007 MDX Elite (Canadian Version) Cause we have Nav but no live traffic...
@@novanut35, it’s working well! The microphone failed though. It just occurred to me that there’s a a warranty but I’m not sure if it expired or not. The mic is modular though so I’ll probably replace it.
The authorized online retailer is crutchfield. You can also purchase on Amazon for possibly cheaper, but be warned if you purchase on Amazon there is no warranty availability for that purchase.
Check your dip switch positions and cross reference it against what is listed in the manual. Other than that, I can't think of other ideas other than making sure the wiring is intact. My XM still works on XM2
Any reason why after installing the Bluetooth radio that the radio is now all scrambled? It works but the display is overlapping other display messages. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. 2007 Honda Accord w/ XM no nav.
Karen Morgan I have no idea I have never seen that before if you are still in your return window maybe just return it and swap it for another one? If it keeps doing that it may be your car stereos issue. Are you sure you have the right bt model unit too?
SDwyer so I got a cheaper unit and it did this first.. that’s when my bro recommended the USA spec. Sounds great! I’m worried it’s the wire harness or something. Idk who to ask to fix. Any suggestions?
The switch back to AUX is due to a loose connection between two cables that snap together, at least for me. I used electrical tape to keep it from coming loose and it is all good. Also, I made the mistake of not installing the mic. 9 months later, my car's HFL died, and by then I threw out the mic so I had to buy another from USA Spec in order to get hands-free calls to happen again. But even when the HFL was alive, it was annoying that sometimes incoming calls defaulted to the BT-HON3 with no mic, so I could hear the other person but they couldn't hear me due to no mic.
Any update on operation?
1/8/24 still going strong
So can we get a 5 year update or if it ever lasted up until you may have gotten rid of uour Car?
1/8/24 both car and unit still going strong
Great video! Worked perfectly for 2011 MDX with no navigation. Thanks for the tutorial.
Great video! I installed mine a year ago thanks to this video and it's still working great!
I know this video is 4 years old but just wanted to say thanks for the excellent video. Clear, concise, and comprehensive! Great job 👍👍👍
Thanks! Hope it helped you! I've still got my unit working strong
Great video!

No, the steering wheel for HFL functions like phone call and hang up will not work with this add on module

Glad someone put up a video where they're not taking their dash apart and taking the radio out, which is not necessary on many vehicles...
Doesn't 2012 have Bluetooth Audio?
Tech does. I have base model. Base model only has phone audio, not media audio

thank you! this video is useful for infiniti m35 with xm module (same idea)
Will this work on 2002 s2000 without xm?
Not sure, you may want to check with usa spec
I think I’ll bite the bullet and get it from Amazon. I’m gonna install it on my 2008 Pilot EX-L with Navi.
How's it working?

What is that "Optional" port for? I can't find any info about it online at all. You'll see what I'm talking about at 8:19.
joeyslaptop I have no idea what that optional port is for
How different is the audio quality between the aux port and the added Bluetooth adapter?
ljbrandt500 I can tell no difference
Thanks for the vid. Just the info I needed for my 2012 mdx without nav.
Were you able to get it working?

Jeremy C you had to turn off the phone call capability for the bt45 to get it to stay on HFL
