Out in the back woods of Turner, Kansas chasing the KYLE Ry!
Thanks for sharing. See you in the new year. Stay safe.
Hope so😊
Cool. Hurry up, I'm ready to operate.
Operate? What's that 😊
We should have recorded some Ops through this beautiful scene! Next time!
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
It was a fun weekend.
I forgot the RPM was this weekend. Hope you had fun.
Should have posted this sooner as it is from the 3rd.
@@kcsthebetterway That's right, it was the first weekend of November. It was like that when I was there last year.
Awesome share layout looked very cool Thanks have a great rest of your day
We had a fun RPM, and I'm glad you enjoyed the short version 😊
Sure this isn’t a club layout…my goodness…would love to trains on it someday…good progress 👍🏽
Me too 😊
Solid benchwork…cutting homasote…not fun
The wind is a big help here in Kansas, as long as you're facing the right direction 😊
Lots of progress. - Jason
Good to hear 😊
Bench work looks solid looking forward to more updates on the layout
Me too😊.
The one good thing I can say is that when I come up to operate, I'll know where I'm going. 😁
It does kinda makeya home sick 😢
Neat idea for the out-of-service turntable. Good update! Looking forward to more!
Ditto😊
1:32 : The tables are too high for children 😉
Looking good Paul! A HUGE difference from the last time I was there. Lots to look forward to!
Thanks 👍
Such a great place! Great people!
It's amazing how well the family and crew are running that store.
🛑👍👍👍👍👍
Good times indeed 😊
If that's low on stock, you probably can't move when it's full.
When shipments arrive, moving around is difficult 😊
That was an incredible modular layout. Thanks for taking us along.
The neat thing about FreeMo is that the layout is always different 😊
this is scare, my cat sad
Those are great freight cars. Snazzy paint job too.
1:25 I’d like that on my layout. Awesome. Just awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, that represents the Augusta Kansas Oil Refinery as severed by the SL&SF. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great time!!
It was!
Wher's the bicentennial unit?????
Good question. I only went for the day and forgot to take 616😢
Nice looking train and terrain…
Indeed!
Great WarBonnets cool trains Enjoy the rest of your day 😎
Thanks 👍
that is some layout thank you for the share
Looking Forward To Seeing The Layout. I Work For KCS (CPKC) On The New Orleans Sub Engineering Department. Nice Work Sir
KCS had an exhibit at the Louisiana state fair grounds, and I was a part of that exhibit for 20 years, and that's how I got started in this hobby.
Nice crew couch!!
Yes, for slide nights. 😊
This layout looks to be a monumental undertaking. I look forward to watching it develop!
Me to 😊
Dear L&A Ry, very interesting update! Love the way you’re doing the spline and homasote. Cool to see how those tracks come together. Because you said you’re going to glue the track down, are you also gonna spike ‘m? Only am familiar with the plio-bond. The down side of such contact adhesives is that they can ‘soap up’ when they come in contact with water. Cheerio
On one of our FreeMo modules, we used Barge cement, and after 14 years, it is still holding up.
I tried weathered rail myself on my previous layout...more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. Great update!
The price was right, but the results were not.
Looking great, but I thought you'd be done by now. LOL Seriously, I like the weathering on the Magcobar box car. You can come do some of mine.
I surprised myself so line them up and we'll have a party 😊
Thats gonna be some sturdy road bed. Thats pretty awesome..
A lot of work. I didn't think I had enough years left to do it that way. LOL But it looks like you're making progress.
So far, 😊so good
Even has that new boxcar smell! 😉
I want to weather them so bad😊
Those look familiar.
😊
The jumper looks great! I have a pile of joint bars I've yet to add, but I have tried them out and they were very easy to apply and really add a lot to the detail. Looking forward to another layout update!
I to have some joint bars and Hope to install them when the time comes.
You have an impressive C-clamp collection!
Wow! You've gotten a lot done since my last visit. Thats a lot of benchwork, I can do that for about 3 months before I loose patience with it and need a change of pace.
I'm not sure how I missed this update. Stupid RUclips.
Or me replying 😊
I only recognized two of the railroads.
What a strange paint job.😂
I just want to know who in their right mind would paint something like that 😊
@@kcsthebetterway Whoever it is, they need mental help.
If I recall, this was designed by grade schoolers.
@@friscobob56 Yes, a fifth grade girl who was a daughter of amid level exec at KCS.
@friscobob56 Yes. She was 7 and won the 18 and under employee only contest. 616 and 642 were painted in November of 75, and should I remember correctly, 616 was repainted January 1977, with 642 repainted somewhere between January and March of 1978. After 1976 they no longer required to lead trains.
This must be how actual structural engineers build benchwork!
Or just an "old" aircraft mechanic.
@@kcsthebetterway I know a couple of those...they ain't no dummies!
I'm impressed with the amount of planning that must be involved to build spline roadbed like that.
Getting the first three started to ensure overlap takes a little time, and after that, you just need enough clamps to things moving.
I think it would take me a full year just to settle on a track plan for a full basement layout. I wish you luck with your build!
Will definitely enjoy watching this layout develop.
WOW... I live about an hour southeast of Minden. My father used to run between Ruston and Minden as a young man for work. My grandfather was an engineer for the L&A in the 50-60's so I'm very familiar with the L&A as well as KCS. This is gonna be fun to watch come to life in miniature! Exciting! -Gary
I do Hope so😊
Starting to take shape.
One Hope's so😊
I plan on Modeling the Cotton Belt in Ho scale . I am going to feature a segment of the Pine Bluff Subdivision Camden to McNeil. That includes small communities of Buena Vista, Ogemaw, and the town of Stephens.
Any plans to have the L&NW interchange at McNeil?
@@kcsthebetterway I plan on it.
@Joel-sy4ho Sweet! One of my favorite short lines!
Very nice construction. This is a build I will be watching.👍
Thanks 👍
My wife actually said the other day that she wouldn't care if I took over the whole basement because she never goes down there anyway. I thought about it for maybe 30 seconds and decided there is no way I could build a huge layout like this on my own. It would never come close to getting done. I wish you luck and look forward to the updates!
There's no way I could afford it either. 😅🤣😂
I have a crew that helps, and my Hope is to run trains. Now, as for completing the layout. Is it ever finished?
@@kcsthebetterway No, I agree that a layout is never finished and I guarantee that if I thought my wife was serious for one second about letting me have the whole basement that I would SERIOUSLY consider it, regardless of cost and time because...DUH!!!
