The three types of window condensation, and what to do about it.
Просмотров 4614 месяца назад
There are three different ways in which your window can condensate. Externally, which is perfectly normal, do nothing. Internally, which means a seal has failed and you need a glass pack or sash replacement, contact your contractor. Or interior, which means your home has too much humidity and you need to air it out. Condensation is not always a bad thing, in fact, it's to be expected externally...

What to do with window stickers after final inspection

What do you do with your window stickers after the installation has been completed and undergone a successful final inspection? Always keep them in a safe dry space, do not throw them away! If my backflow preventor is always spraying water out of the small holes, is that an indication that it and/or the washer inside has gone bad? Just started doing that to me in the last month where even at full water on, it is spraying out the small holes.

    • @thefloridahomeownersguide
      @thefloridahomeownersguide 4 месяца назад

      in some areas it's not a requirement. In other situations(like mine) its just an older home and was built before these really became a thing that is deemed necessary. If theres any building department that required them by code, then any new homes built after that code change will be built with them

    • @rshinn8776
      @rshinn8776 4 месяца назад

      I dont see the point of these. All they do is soak you when you shut the water off. In order for water to backflow into the house, the valve would have to be open, and supply water pressure would have to be shut off or less than whats already in the hose. If you shut the valve and let the water out of the hose, there is no chance of it flowing back in.

    • @thefloridahomeownersguide
      @thefloridahomeownersguide 4 месяца назад

      @@rshinn8776 if you need to speak engineer specs, please cntact a local plumber. these are not just for hoses but also sprinkler systems, which there is absolutely no way for you to 'just let the water out' with. When you turn the water off, a simple step back would keep you from getting wet since it has about a 3 second delay. But if youd prefer not to use them, that is entirely your choice.

    • @TN_HondaDad
      @TN_HondaDad 2 месяца назад

      @@rshinn8776 Agree, another piece/process not really needed for most home owners in my book but they have to cover the 1% where it could be an issue and Government overstepping their boundaries. I turn my my hose, spray some bushes/flowers or wash the car. I don't know how in my case chemicals and "bad water" can get back into my drinking water like I have researched as the consensus states. And seems like they always leak, even when working as designed and just make a big mess then eventually fail and need replacement. Funny how my mom's faucet of 40+ years has never leaked like mine of only about 10 years old. Do what you feel is necessary and not always listen to the Government experts, I do!

      Townhouses qualify for opening protection only. No roofs. WIndows and glazed doors would be part of what you may qualify for. Solid doors are only approved with a written statement from insurance that it would lower your costs and is required for a discount. Otherwise a solid door would not qualify is insurance does not require it in order to receive the credit

      My safe Florida home will pay you a reimbursement for any items that they have already previously approved for their grant. However if you start these projects before your grant is approved, or do projects that were not officially authorized by them then you are correct they will not reimburse you for those. There is a procedure that has to be followed. If you have followed that procedure correctly, then wait patiently for them to reimburse you. It is not a quick turnaround, with hundreds of thousands of applications their program runs slowly

      Aloha Keenan. I would highly recommend PGT or Home Depot's exclusive Protectsure brand for impact products in Florida. The reason being: they are miami dade rated, not just HVHZ. And since they are made and tested ehre in florida, they withstand the elements far better than the products made up north and shipped here like American Craftsman, Anderson, Simonton, etc. Always look for products specifically made for your region. Highly recommend requesting a +65/-70 rating instead of the standard +50/-50 as well. Home Depot provides that standard but any other company selling PGT does not, its an upgrade, and well worth it
