Hydroponic Greenhouse Update 4 7 17
Hey Guys! This is just a quick update of what has, and is going on in the hydroponic greenhouse. We have had a pretty good season, all things considered! The Kratky cucumbers did really good, and that space has been replaced with some of the most beautiful, picture perfect Curled Leaf Kale I Have ever seen! The Whiteflies are back with a vengeance, and are trying their best to take out the tomatoes! I am sorry for the lack of video uploading, but sometimes some things take precedence over others! Also, there have not been to many things going on in the greenhouse, other than the addition of the Kale, and I won't bore you with redundancy ; ) Thanks for watching, and don't forget to comment...

    Are you still around? I found this very informative. I am building a greenhouse its made from cattle panels. The size is 10’x16’ its 8’ tall with greenhouse plastic. What size fan do you recommend. I have an extension cord that i can use.

    • @keyplayr61greenhousehydrop14
      @keyplayr61greenhousehydrop14 3 года назад

      Hi, Maxine! I no longer live in GA, but I am still responding to comments on the videos. The best recommendation I can give you is to go in to Greenhouse Megastores website, and use their calculator tool to get the correct size fan, and shutter. It's always better to go a little bigger than smaller, as it takes a good bit of cfm to extract heat from a greenhouse. If you are going to use an extension cord, make sure that it is heavy gauge wire, such a s #12. or at least #14 depending on how far you have to run it. remember that the further the run, the bigger wire size you will need so you don't overload the cord, and or burn up your cooling fan motor.

      Once the nighttime temps start to drop, the development and ripening of the fruit starts to deteriorate. I t could also be the variety of tomato that you are using. Night temps need to be no cooler than 68-72 degrees at night in order for the fruit to develop properly. Thanks for watching!

    One helpful critique for someone not familiar with gardening, but looking to get into it. Either a voice over or captions of tools beings used (tho I knew that you were using a rotor tiller) and why you were rolling would have been good. Like how far into the soil did you go? It looks like 6-8 inches.

I'm a painter so I am gonna fully restore the old windows I'm using in the greenhouse so they will continue to last for many more years. I live in south Alabama on Mobile Bay so I plan taking advantage of our mild winters and growing all winter long in my greenhouse every year. Thanks for the great information.
