This week's is a freakin' looooooooooooong one. I got to sit down with one of my bestest friends and talk about queer identity, advocacy, and more. I have epilated and waxed my own legs, I have also gotten machine tattoos and hand poked ones, including on my hip bones, and I would rather get tattooed than epilated. It’s like the worst pain to me. But some people epilate all the time and love it so idk.

Hey Lil, there should be a couple books that are on my bookcase at dad's house that you might be interested in. One was given to me by Greg Trupiano from Sarasota Opera that is all about the history of LGBT and the Stonewall riots. It is big book and kind of hot pink. Also, there is a video and book that I have called Daddy Papa. Great read.

I love your videos! I just started learning tattooing at home and I’m recording my journey as a beginner. How was your apprenticeship journey? Do you think it’s possible to learn at home? Also i really like your editing style what kind of software do you use🌝
@@Lectarsnectar hey there~ thank you so much @Lectarsnectar :) I actually had a really shitty apprenticeship and ended up mainly teaching myself how to tattoo. I definitely believe it’s possible, but I didn’t really grow until I moved to a tattoo environment where I could learn from the people around me. I’m currently using a combo of iMovie and Adobe Premier Pro to edit my videos.
@@Mia_Speer thanks a lot! I appreciate the help. When you say tattoo environment how did you find that community? Was it mostly getting tattoos from artists and asking them questions?
@@Lectarsnectar I got an apprecticeship with a very small local tattoo shop. Even though there wasn't teaching going on, I was able to ask the artists there questions and actually observe them working. That worked really well for me because I do a lot better with watching rather than being told how to do something. If you learn better with a teacher, it might be a lot better for you to find a decent mentor in your area. I would suggest maybe trying to put together a portfolio and checking out the local tattoo shops around you. No harm in at least giving it a go! You might get some advice on what you could do better, even if they don't let you join their team.
@@Mia_Speer That's great advice! I have started working on my portfolio using mostly procreate. It feels overwhelming sometimes since I dont have an art background but I've always had a passion for anything creative. I really appreciate what you're doing makes me feel that this is a very welcoming community! Did it take a long time for you to find Mehndi and Marked? I mean did you have to tattoo friends or cousins in order to get better?

@@Wolf_Kami Hilariously that's actually the machine I just upgraded from. It's a really good machine for black and gray, but I can tell a difference in my recent color work with the Bishop packer.
