No work is being done grinding rust, applying rust converter and priming and painting, you clowns are pathetic, getting all this money for decades while she rots away. Shame on you!
Hey I work with Pete pinto now
Steve, was that Pete on air with Tony and Nick this morning? I came in late, heard Tony talking spaghetti breakfast, and called in. Blast from the past!
8 years later and nothing has happened.
Someone should ask Donald Trump he's pro American if anyone can get it done it's him a classic proud old ship in our countries name . he might even buy it . he probably hasn't even thought about it some one needs to remind him of it .
Never liked Happy- even as a very small child.
Please don't give up on her . Mary Babiec
Please save this ship Mary Babiec
I remember being here for this. I was almost 5 at the time. My grandfather worked in this building. My dad retired from Campbell's 5 years a go.
What the world needs now...happy clowns ruclips.net/video/9XucQjt-NME/видео.html
I was on the show ...
The only place where children's show hosts can sing gospel songs today is TBN.
I went on the show when I was about 4 or 5. I played my marching sticks all the way home from the train station 🤣 A very happy memory. But I also had torn my dress on the sliding board, because the boy in back of me wouldn't let go of me.
Oh yeah at Falcon Ridge Folk festival
I got the pleasure of a sunrise personal set just me my girlfriend and a close friend loaded on MDMA it was f^%ckin epic thank you Electric Man you rock
The elements want her back more than we do.
I'm tired of seeing Susan Gibbs, we get it your grandfather designed it blah blah....quit suckin money out of the public for donations, the ship will never be redeveloped. Just reef it off the keys.

Met my future girlfriend there on stage at Crazy Eddies.
I have a set of (unpublished) digital photos by 2 passengers who sailed on SS United States in the spring or summer of 1955. The photographers are the unknown couple themselves. They hailed from Hollywood, CA. They brought with them their 1953 convertible Cadillac automobile. Many of the pics are from their trip through Europe (France, Italy, Germany). Would these (rare) documents be of any interest to the Conservancy archives! I may be contacted by eMail: yannsaunders [at] gmail [dot] com.
Cheesy music track always makes it far more dramatic!
It not easy being cheesy.
PA-PS: MART backwards is TRAM....MONO RAIL.....Welcome to Disney.....
Funny....by your wording South Jersey is simply a suburb of Philly.....That's been the case for years....Jersey shore community (native peoples of the shore) might consider that offensive and part of what they call "The Brown Baggers" who came to Jersey from out of state....It's an interesting diatribe causing alot of aggrevation and anger to many of the locals who feel out of staters come into the area for the shore life disregarding the locals...However it's been an essential element for Jersey business for years....Especially South Jersey tourism....Thanks for posting....Believe there are two.......
Our local musician very talented local musician Eddie Rocks Camden County and the world.
dich the music.... anoying...
Disapointing
I don't remember being on the show, but I still have one marching stick! I do remember being on the "Bertie The Bunyip"show.
I used to watch Happy the Clown, PIxanne,, Gene London, and Sally Starr all on TV. Sally is the only one I've ever met
It's always awesome to hear Clarabell talk.
Jack Steck who is mentioned in the posting had one brilliant programming move. He invented a format by which WFIL could use a pile of third rate musical performance films, some dating back to the 1940's. It was called- "Bandstand" which debuted in the fall of 1952. After some tweaks and a host change 4 years later partly engineered by Steck which ruined a career, Steck's idea for cheap afternoon filler had become the biggest show on WFIL which had an unusually large coverage area which included parts of 4 states. On Monday,August 5th 1957, the first episode of AMERICAN BANDSTAND aired on the ABC network to 67 affiliates coast to coast. Until the show moved to LA in late 1963, AB aired up to 5 days a week for almost 3 hours per day, most of that time live. AB was the last network show to originate from Philadelphia until the Mike Douglas Show moved from Cleveland to KYW Channel 3 on Broad Street in Philadelphia. Steck's "Folly" to use old film clips to fill time in 1952 became one of the longest running shows on TV.
My older brother and sister watched Bandstand every day after school. Naturally, as a toddler, I watched it, too. On the day I started going to nursery school, now known as “Daycare,” 😂, we passed by a nice looking house that I was surprised by, because the draperies in the large front windows were always closed. Mom asked me if I knew who lived in the house, and naturally I didn’t know. When she told me Dick Clark lived there I was very impressed! STARS never lived in our area outside of Philly! A very big day happened to me when Mom and I were grocery shopping. This was in Media, PA, and the old Acme Market was at the very last stop on the Upper Darby to Media trolley line. As Mom was deciding on which item to pick, a surprisingly small man approached, and stood right next to us, waiting to pick the item he had his eye on. I looked up at him and OH MY!!! It was Dick Clark!!! My six foot tall Mom towered over him! I was so completely star struck that I couldn’t speak a word due to my utter attack of shyness. Truthfully, looking back later I thought that maybe Dick Clark may have been a little shy, too. To this day I regret that I couldn’t find the guts even to whisper, “Hi Dick Clark” to him. RIP to Dick Clark, my all time, absolute favorite pioneer of early Philadelphia television!
I miss the big M... My mom took us kids there all the time😥
I was on 2x's
Scrap It! No Offense To Mr. Gibbs He Was A Brilliant Man, But I Think If He Was Still Here He Would Say You`re Wasting Too Much Money.
Love that place a huge part of my childhood but it turned into a shithole towards the end dangerous for everybody
wild dogs last time I was there.
when was this
omg coming back now...
D.O.A!!! Time to scrap this thing.
It is a very important piece of history. Also the ship broke the transatlantic crossing record and still holds the record. Also the ss United states is a part of cold war history as it was designed to be quickly and easily converted into a troop transport.
