People are surprised that Team Asobi copied a lot of Nintendo's homework!? From the moment I saw this game in action on release, I was like "Didn't Nintendo already do this gimmick?" I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't sued Sony yet! 😅 Though, honestly, Astro Bot still looks like a lot of fun even though the parallels between it and Nintendo's ideas are hard to ignore.

I feel some of these pay homage to other titles, some are a bit of a stretch, and others might be closer to a rip. Tho I wonder if the point of Astro Bot was to take elements from others games to make players feel that old nostalgic itch. Cool video tho!

The lore on this game is that they thought American kids couldn't handle the diffuculty level, so they reskinned an Arabian Nights themed game for the American SM2.

My theory with this game is that they wanted to make the levels more involved but ended up just making it a convoluted romp

Naw... There is nothing wrong with the game physics. It handles just the same as the first Super Mario Bros. The problem is that it's significantly more difficult than the first Super Mario Bros. So much more difficult that it was originally rejected by Nintendo of America as a sequel to the first Super Mario Bros 🖐 Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels) was originally meant for people who were experts at the first Super Mario Bros. Highly skilled players who were looking for a bigger challenge! 😁👍 And it could be that you don't quite fit into that category of people. Just sayin 🤷‍♂️

The issue isn't the game... You clearly didn't grow up in the 80's\90's. I agree, that it's a good deal more difficult than SMB1, but I'm sure it handles the same as the original. You just have to get the hang of the mechanics of it.

Wait. I didn't realize this game had a lot of hate. I really like this one! It was quite impressive for a GameBoy game! I do like the weirdness that this one had as it gave it a uniqueness from most other Mario games, yet still felt familiar. The game is probably one of the easiest Mario games at least until you get to the final castle. 5:14 I think the trick to this trap is to jump over the middle floor tiles as it prevents the Wario fists from activating.

Good run! I grew up with this game, so I think I had gotten used to its wonky physics. 😅 I kind of like its simplicity even though its sequels are far batter (except Lost Levels, of course). It is good for a quick run since the game is so short. I find it funny that I am the same way about Mario Sunshine. Sunshine is my second least favorite Mario game after Lost Levels and after beating it 100% many ages ago, I never want to touch it again!

I've beaten this game once when I was younger and I wish I had the rewind feature. 😅 It is just brutally difficult for all the wrong reasons. It is easily my least favorite Mario game and I've played every mainline Mario game. Super Mario 2 USA is far superior to this game in every single way!
