I never met a Religious Sister I was afraid of (and all my Grade School Teachers were Franciscan Sisters) until after their revolution in the late 60s. Then i met some with an axe to grind, and had become mean-spirited and vindictive--hostile as hell. Filled with, as the book about them said, "ungodly rage."

Monks & Nuns do lots of WORK: teaching at the Catholic schools, working at churches, visiting hospitals & families, visiting prisoners, working with the homeless and doing missionary work, to name a few. Also, they pray & sing daily for 5 hrs - & they rise very early to pray. St. James said that prayers of true Christians bear lots of fruit (James 5). Frankly, God will judge us for whatever we say & do; the Gospel says that our work will follow us for eternity. I hope you will correct this misconception & apologize to your listeners. I believe that those who apologize for their mistakes are honest and brave people. I lived in an convent orphanage ,,, and saw the sisters wear their full habits ,,( the Gray sisters of the Cross) or some call them sisters of charity in Canada,) I just loved it ,,, I feel sad that they don't wear it anymore ,,, we need reminders of the bigger picture of God in our lives ,, Modernism lost their way and are now truly lost ,,, we need help ,, I hope some day their habits comes back for all to see, even though some do , but not enough ,,

I am no longer a proper "Christian", however after being at the church all day, every day, 7 days a week for 7 years, i still wear a (now personalised) habit, and I have tons of respect for my sisters who may have worn it since long before i Was born, and still do.

I remember as a kid Catholic in catechism hearing the sisters coming long before we would see them. I was always afraid of all those pins.

What is it with all the straight pins? Seems to me that's just asking to get poked at various times, or, lose one on the floor and then someone steps on it. Do they have something against snaps or safety pins?

There were usually prayers to say for putting on each part of the habit. A beautiful tradition that should still be kept

Very complicated. Getting dressed would be a drudgery every morning, especially if you're 90 years old.

I am muslim and I wear hijab.. I respect sisters of the church and the way they cover their body, really beautiful and I can feel their faith and love for God ❤️
