RF Safety Pt1
RF Safety - Part 1
In this video I try explain that the RF powers to which the general public are exposed are so microscopic that there is no possibility of injury with normal exposure. I also give a general idea as to how much RF exposure the human body can tolerate.
The figures and examples given are VERY general and over-simplified for the sake of clarity.
RF Safety - Part 2
In this part of the video I try to bust a few myths, rumours and misinformation regarding RF exposure.
Note that the regulations for RF exposure differ widely from one country to another, depending on who interpreted the published research. If there is any difference between the data I give and local regulations then th...

Refilling Disposable E Cigarettes vapes

How to refill disposable e-cigarettes and also how to recycle the LiPO battery cells for other uses. These e-cigs can help you cut down on cigarettes and even stop smoking permanently. Nicotine-free? No problem. The cost of re-using e-cigarettes (vapes) is less about 0.7% of the cost of a packet of cigarettes. The batteries can damage the environment - so salvaging and reusing them is also envi...

    Well explained, very educational. It startled me how people who 20 years ago were afraid of the supposedly ill health effects of wifi signals (100mW EIRP) had GSM phones (1W) stuck to their heads with very little concern.

    Hi Harry. On the subject of aluminum foil hats. The Internet led me to one of the foreign online stores and I found an interesting product there, the name I translated as "5G radiation shielding blocking hat spring knitted". Unfortunately, RUclips does not allow me to save the link to this store. The product is completely sold out. Several hundred purchases have been recorded. I tried to read customer reviews, but I had to focus on cognac to calm my nervous system. Once upon a time, the Spanish knight Don Quixote fought unsuccessfully with windmills. Is the history of human civilization spinning in a spiral?

      Hello and thank you for the comment. I am interested in the "5G radiation shielding blocking hat spring knitted" and it could have been good to buy one, just for the laugh. Of course it would be completely sold out. If you want instructions for making a classical tinfoil hat then I found this link on the web: ruclips.net/video/Zr8u7br5V3Y/видео.html I am sure that the human race is obsessed with circlular motion and have been so for 10,000 years. Your comment on Don Quixote finding an (unsuccessful) use for them was interesting. I must do a bit more googling, probably have more to learn. "Is the history of human civilization spinning in a spiral?" Very probably. At the moment we live in unstable times and history seems to be repeating itself with growing violence and wars. But perhaps this is a soapbox I should not climb on. Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to respond to my videos. I really do appreciate this. Very best regards from Harry Lythall, Märsta, Sweden.

    If it's $2000 for a hobby grade spectrum analyzer then what grade are the ~$200 Tiny SAs listed on Amazon ? :) Thought those were the hobby grade and the 2K ones were the lab grade instruments..

    • @harrylythall3486
      @harrylythall3486 Месяц назад

      Hi, I suppose a lot depends on the minimum you expect from an analyzer. The analyzers I used professionally were in the region of $40,000 to $100,000, but they worked up to the 50GHz regions, and could decode 5G Cell-ID, SSB, and get stable level data. As soon as you talk about constellation diagrams and >10GHz the prices seems to rocket. For my own lab I chose the Siglent SSA3021A analyzer with a range limited to 9kHz to 2.1GHz, and has no signal analysis, other than the basic SA features. It also has a good clean tracking generator that I use regularly for filter design and testing. Yes, for $200 you can get a simple and effective instrument. I have a Raspberry-Pi with a colour display and an SDR dongle. It makes a great OTA monitor and QRM-hunter, but it is somewhat limited on the workbench. Measuring down to -120dBm is a lot to ask, but the Siglent can do it. Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to respond. I really appreciate your comments. Sorry if I was a bit verbose with my answer. Very best regards and I hope youhave a Happy New year - from Harry - SM0VPO

      Thank you very much for the comment. I am so glad you found the information useful. I have a question for you, do you think it would be a good idea to make a video about charging LiPO cells when they are series coupled? Without using a "special" charger? Or was your primary interest in refilling e-cigarettes? LiPO cells are notorious for burning, if the charging is not properly done. For example, many of these 12-Volt drills/screwdrivers use NiCAD or other cells, series connected, without charge balancing, so after 6 months you have to buy a new battery pack. I have developed several techniques to balance cells without a "special" charger. Do you think this be a good idea for a follow-up blog? Or were you happy with the vape-video? Very best regards - Harry

      Hi Harry, I think your idea to make a video on how to charge vape batteries without a special charger is interesting. Vape batteries are a little treasure that are lying around everywhere and can be effectively used in our daily lives as a portable source of electrical energy. P.S. I am 62 years old, I smoke tobacco, cigarettes and cigars, drink gin and whiskey and use traditional swear words in my speech.

    • @harrylythall3486
      @harrylythall3486 2 месяца назад

      Ok, you are not the first to suggest this, it was not actually my own idea, but a suggestion from a friend. I think I will go ahead and make such a video. My studio mic uses two cells, so I used a DPDT switch for the ON/OFF switch. It switches OFF the amplifier, but also re-wires the two cells in parallel: - the audio jack GND is the battery -ve and the +ve terminal is connected tot he isolated switch chassis so I have access to both cells for float-charging @ 4.2V - no need to balance - If one cell has a lower capacity, then in parallel, the cell with the highest potential will float-charge the other so they become balanced I also use two miniature relays in my Hamradio Transciever so that all three cells are in parallel and I can charge the radio with a 5V USB (which energises the two relays). Unplug the USB and the 12V to the radio is restored when the relays drop out. No cell voltage balancing needed. In my (cheap) battery drill I put a darlington transistor and voltage divider across each cell, so now each (NiCAD) cell is overvoltage/charge protected with just 3 components. The cells are now charge limited. I deleted the in-built obsolescence! I have lots of ideas. Ok on your personal circumstances - I am 73 years old, recently single, and I stop smoking regularly. I love a nice single malt (speyside is my favourite) and I also use "traditional language", but in moderation. The Swedes often have problems understanding "coloquial English" and typical English sarcasm. Thank you for replying. Have a nice day - Harry

      Hi Dylan, Many thanks for the response. Yes, I was taught a lot about "THE" history of radio, but with recent research I found that which we are taught in school is not always accurate. A dentist making the first wireless transmission is not really acceptable to many, A russian who first used oscillations did not go down well with my radio teachers in 1968, and Marconi getting patents because he had the best lawyers may not be so ethical, but history has a nasty habit of being "revised". In the millitary radio school they pounded into use that light was magnetic waves, but after asking why light is affected by gravity and therefore has mass, was told to shut up. No explanation!! I do not want my videos to become political, but I will present as much information as I can and see if I can enlighten people. The first video took a lot of research. Thank you for your comments, all comments and constructive criticisms are always welcome. Have a nice day and best regards from Harry - SM0VPO

      With every job in the house I ALWAYS seem to need a "YAFT" (Yet Another F'in Tool". This takes some practice, and the offcut is always smashed to smithereens, but if you get it right it works. Not always perfect but a sanding block can usually fix that. I was lucky that the previous house owner had left 100's of spare tiles, but I got the job done, without buying a YAFT.

    Hi Harry, today I built your GDO version 1, it works great. Now I want to know more about it´s functioning theory and capabilities. My version works as a plug in of a cheap chinese tester Sunwa Yx-1000A used in it´s 0,5 milliampere range. Testing it with a similar 40 meter coil in parallel with AM radio capacitor IN RESONANCE It produces a good dip from 230 micro amper toward almost zero milliamper, the fet´s drain voltage goes down from 7,98V to 5,65v and the total current rises from 2 milliampere to 4 milliampere. I can´t understand why in resonance it consumes more current. I think, old tube Grid Dips when a resonant device absorbs energy it stops oscillating lowering grid and plate current. So I think this device works in the opposite way. Thanks in advance for your response. THE RELATIVE POWER IS 0 dB IN RESONANCE AND -5dB OUT OF RESONANCE. Diego LU2DVY

    Mr. Lythall, good evening. I found one of your previous articles about the SHORT ANTENNA or fishing pole. Do you still have it? There was a doubt concerning the total length of the positive active vertical part for 80m. Can you describe in more details its construction?I'm thinking in making 8 radials on the horizontal position, installed on the feet of the mast. Can you give me/us more info? Maybe produce another of your crystal clear videos? Thank you in advance.
