Berliioz fue un excelente orquestador. La "pintura" que hace con esta sinfonía programática es excelente. Pero esta versión es un poco morosa, lenta, aunque la orquesta suena bien

I still find the last movement, "the dream of the witch's Sabath," to be terrifying! It is a remarkable transmogrification of the theme of the first movement. The two harps of the "ball" bring a sense of joy and peace. Bravo!

Berlioz was the first to really expand and modernize the brass section and make it sound like an army rather than just a couple of toots in the background. He was the first to use the Dies Irae in a large scale composition and it works to great effect here.

For me this beauty symphony will always be the ballet " La Symphonie Fantastique " coreographer Roland Petit at Paris-Opera in 1975 with Zizi Jeammaire- Mickaël Renard Dancers , unforgettable memory. .
