Double Gun Stock Design - Dan Rossiter - DSC 2020
I have never seen a Damascus shotgun barrel. Would it be safe to fire, modern shotgun ammunition in those barrels?
Where do you find the need parts ?
Thanks so much, I always wonder how quarter ribs and barrel mounted scope bases were made. Not nearly as COMPLICATED as I thought but I do know it requires precise measurements and a Craftsman’s hand.
Spray your chalk line with hair spray to keep it from rubbing off.
Beautiful rifles
I got a pair of Wisner 98 Mauser side swing safeties, with one intended to use on a 1936 Mexican sporter. Wisner's products are top notch.
Kids at home, dont check your nails! haha. Excellent work!.
Most excellent video. Thanks so much for posting this. Watching this gave me a good idea why one blank is cost quadruple what others do and also why the grain is important regardless of what grade blank you want. Soon I’ll be cutting a tree to pull a better blank than I would have before.
Gold medal for having the most boringly dreary miserable moping personality on the whole of youtube?
I love the idea of teaching what you know and not holding back hard earned experience. It’s investing in the future of custom gunmaking and I think it’s the right way. Thank you.
Love the video! Fine work from all. Any chance you've got more video of the barrel machining? For most it's like watching paint dry, but for me it's more like watching a time lapse of an ant colony eating the flesh off a predator skull leaving something spectacular in the end.
👍🏻
wow and hi, at 17 minutes- how much is that piece of woos today?
I've been installing these for many years, and this is the most concise, simple to understand, and CORRECT video of the process. First class my friend!
Please add more videos! Its been almost a year!
Wonderful 👏.
Beautiful rifle
Who makes and sells the custom sights you mention ? I need one made for my JP Saur oberdorfer, mines missing
I have the same? Dembart handle, but my blades are like little files & don't work well ,what brand and style are the cutters you are using I want to order some, from brownells? or where ?
Do you provide this service?
I'm glad I had the privilege to meet fred many years ago.
Thank you for posting this video, who would have guessed gunstock wood and wine grapes could be similar. I.e., Royal Walnut grown in one area will be different than Royal Walnut grown a different area. Cabernet sauvignon grapes grown in France will produce a different wine than Cabernet sauvignon grapes grown in California even though they are the same variety. Interesting
That thumbnail is gnarly. Good info otherwise, thanks for making the video.
I bet he kept his neighbors happy lol
Linda demais homem
I remember Jims shop in Chehalis, Wa. In following years I bought Winchester 70 parts from him. All displayed excellent workmanship.
That's pure craftsmanship!
Beautiful rifle
Why are you blueing Damascus barrels? They should be browned to enhance the pattern. "Blueing" or blacking as we call it is for modern steel.
This is the finest Gunsmith video, and I've watched thousands, I've ever seen! Larry Potterfield, I'm sorry to say has been moved to 2nd place.lol Concise and informative! Thank you.
I wish there would be the rest of it
Not too many artisanal gunsmiths these days. Theres a million who make custom assembled guns (which have there own merit) but not many who make guns like these. It's definitely a dying art
You lost me at the bench wire wheel. Im surprised you dont leave it outside for a week between steps for a nice rerusting
I am curious what you use to finish a rifle stock ?
Could you post a video on making the checkering cradle you are using. Looks like a good cradle and fairly easy to fabricate.
Por favor qual o nome desta máquina?
Thank you so much for this video! I have not been able to find great information on the process when it comes to firearms. What's funny is, I'm currently attempting to give my CZ Shadow 2 Orange a mirror finish and I was wondering what it would look like with a color case hardening. This video literally answered it a minute after I had the thought.
I need to find a smith capable of this.
Interesting furnace , why not hinges ?
No secrets? Why the "cut" at 7:45? Thanks for the video.
I think all you missed was him firing up a smoke , lol ..
@@davidfriend1919 And grabbing a ballpen hammer. Think it was breaktime!
Nice work
what is the electric tool you use in this video and will it work on re-checkering
You can explain how to perform open heart surgery, but one shouldn't attempt to perform it at home! Great work!
Interesting - thanks!
Was this done by using just wood charcoal, or was there bone charcoal mixed in the carburising mix ?
MUY INTERESANTE SU DEMOSTRACION LO FELICITO, QUERIA PREGUNTARLE DONDE PUEDO CONSEGUIR UN RECEPTOR PARA UN MAUSER ARGENTINO MODELO1909 SI USTED ME PUEDE AYUDAR EN ESO MUCHO SE LO VOY A AGRADECER , SALUDOS Y UN FUERTE ABRASO.
These are the types of skills that desperately need to be taught before they disappear forever.
This dude makes it look easy…..it will not be 😂…. Master gunsmith
Have you considered using spray adhesive instead of tape to secure the pattern to the stock? You could remove the residue with rubbing alcohol and it has the benefit of holding the paper down more securely than tape.
I have a friend named Paul Nickels, a member of ACGG a custom stock maker. I would make custom grips and Paul would checker them for me, before we both retired.
