We have snow coming this weekend so it’ll be the perfect time to sit and go through everything. Oh and it’s the 13 min version of Stone Free. It’s the one that starts with Billy Graham introducing the band! I’m a professional musician and guitar player and these albums are some of my biggest influences. I’ve been playing guitar for 26 years and I’ve put in my 10,000 hours plus another 10,000 on top of that. Getting the chance to play with these recordings is something I’ve dreamed about for a long long time! Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.

Thanks man! Yea I noticed that too after the track was complete and its also the reason why I haven't made any tracks from '72 anymore. I wonder if I could somehow correct it (I'm sure I can), just haven't put time into it yet. I was so irritated when I started playing to the track hahaha

@ Not sure what program you use to make these (btw, how did you get access to all of these stems anyway? Is it an AI program or something?), but programs like Audacity or even Garage Band do actually have an option to shift the pitch by the cent. This one seems like maybe three or four cents sharp, so if you can just locate the pitch shifting tool in whatever program you use, it should be pretty quick and easy to change the pitch back to normal without affecting the track speed or anything like that. There are also free google chrome extensions that can shift the pitch of a RUclips video up or down by the cent, so that can be a sort of “local” fix for everyone. If it would be too much work to fix the pitch before you post it to RUclips (honestly it’d be pretty easy once you locate how to pitch shift in your program), it might be worth finding one of those extensions and putting the link to it in the video description along with how many cents sharp or flat a Europe ‘72 song is just to make it a bit easier on yourself and the folks who want to play in tune with the song lol. Something like, “This version of China Cat is five cents sharp, but if you download this extension (insert link to the chrome extension here) and adjust the pitch down five (or however many) cents, you will be able to play the song in standard tuning without being flat/sharp.” I actually have that extension on my MacBook and would’ve used it here, but I typically use my iPad for playing backing tracks since it’s just more convenient for my setup and you can’t use chrome extensions on iPads. But dude I was so pumped to finally come across good Dead tracks with the actual band and actual vocals, so when this one started up and I noticed how flat I was, I was just like, “ah, dammit” lmaoo. Still played along anyway and actually got a really good recording out of it lol. Something about playing with the actual band just brings some awesome stuff out of me-it honestly feels like cosmically communicating with Jerry and the gang at times lol. It’d be a damn shame to exclude Europe ‘72 tracks because of the sometimes wonky pitch when there are some pretty easy tools to get around that. I mean, just imagine shredding to that Morning Dew! I read in another comment of yours someone asking for you to do a Dark Star and you mentioned doing the 10/31/71 version, which is my all time favorite DS. When Bobby comes in with the Feelin’ Groovy jam at ~13:25 of that version is absolute magic and probably one of my favorite moments from any Dead jam ever. I would be absolutely elated if you did make that one! Also, if I could recommend one, I’d love to hear the Bird Song from 6/22/73 (it came out on the Pacific Northwest ‘73-‘74 release from a few years ago). One of my favorite jams of all time. So yeah, sorry I rambled a bit here but hopefully you can find out how to easily do the pitch shifting and include more Euro 72 songs on your channel! Your stuff is fantastic!

Yea I started revisiting that dark star yesterday! Should be able to finish it up - my only problem is that I’m not as well-versed in dead tunes as far as the individual Bobby/Jerry parts, and most of the time it’s obvious, but especially with their earlier years, it’s harder to tell who is who. Either way, I think this one should be totally doable!

@ awesome man, can’t wait for that one! If you ever have a part that you can’t tell who is who, I would be more than glad to help you out! I know and have learned Jerry’s parts for most of their songs throughout their career, so I might be able to help you there if you ever get stumped! As far as telling Jerry and Bobby apart, try to focus on their individual tones and that should lead you to the right answer most of the time. Especially in the earlier years, Bobby always had a warmer, more thick tone than Jerry and played lots of moving chords and double stops and things like that which Jerry rarely did. Aside from the earliest years ~’67-‘70 where he played a variety of different Gibson guitars, jerry was typically playing single coil guitars like Strats, then moved more to the coil-split middle humbucker tone for basically the rest of his life starting in the late 70s. When it comes to that particular Dark Star (and their more lengthy freeform jams in songs like Playin in the Band or Uncle John’s Band), the easiest way to tell is by just listening to who is playing lead. Bobby stuck to chords and things and jerry handled all of the higher lead playing most of the time. The only time Bobby ever really played “lead” was during the jam transition between China Cat and I Know You Rider. Aside from that part of that song, he was pretty much sticking to different chords the vast majority of the time.
