RIDE WITH ME EP.14 - AROUND THE BAY 2024 SUPPORT CREW
This year I decided not to join the Around the Bay as I just participated in the Amy's Gran Fondo 3 weeks ago. However since some of our guys from MICC are joining the ATB, we decided to head down to Mornington to give the guys a tow back because by then they would have been exhausted, and on that day there was a bit of headwind heading back to the finish line.
It was a day well spent despite I myself not doing the full ATB, but really happy for those who completed the challenge.
It was definitely not easy for the majority of them, but yeah, teamwork makes the dream work!

RIDE WITH ME EP.13 - AMY'S GRAN FONDO 2024
Просмотров 47514 дней назад
Finally managed to participate in my first cycling event after 1 year of riding/training - the long awaited Amy's Gran Fondo 2024 which is a fully closed road event (AWESOME!!) Winter definitely had not been kind to my fitness as I was not in my top form for the event. I was glad to be able to try my new Canyon Aeroad on this ride, though I thought I would have performed better on my Trek Emond...

    • @twowheelsandcroissant
      @twowheelsandcroissant 4 месяца назад

      I haven't been using the Power for long time unfortunately. But from memory, the support in the middle of the saddle of the Power is more present due to smaller cut-outs vs. the Aeolus And the swooping profile of the Aeolus is more aggressive (i.e. Power has a smoother transition from the back swoop to the middle).. However if you like to sit at the front of the saddle like me, I find Aeolus has slightly more padding at the nose vs. the Power.. Hope it helps :)

    Three mistakes beginner cyclists make that often lead to quitting 1. Rush into buying expensive new bike You must be inspired by photos and videos of cool cyclists on instagram; you jumped straight into spending 5k+ on a brand new bike without knowing if you're going to love the sports or not. Cycling is not about looking cool (that comes second), but most importantly being able to commit into the sport and let it help you in developing yourself physically and mentally. Like any other hobbies, whether it is arts or sports, it needs dedication. Do not rush into getting an aggressive looking aero bike as your first bike just to look cool.. Your bike depreciates as soon as it leaves the shop, if you end up quitting in a few months time you're just wasting your hard earned money. 2. Not getting a bike fit You spent $5k on a bike, but thinking that spending $300-500 for a bike fit is a waste of money. You ended up buying one saddle, two saddles, another stem, and spent more than $500 on parts that do not solve your discomfort. I learnt the hard way too, if I have one advice I can give to any beginner cyclist it would be "get a bike fit". When you get comfortable, you ride stronger, longer, and you will love how you grow into riding. I have seen many people quitting because of complaining not being able to solve discomfort on their bikes and think that "cycling is a painful sport". Don't just go to a random bike fitter as your band aid solution. Get recommendations, go to the one who educates you about your physiology. My bike fitter says "let the bike fit you, not you fit into the bike". 3. Feeling discouraged by the differences You jumped on your shiny brand new bike and hit the road. You look at your experienced friends gliding effortlessly on climbs and dropping you on straights, you feel demotivated. The next time your friends ask you for a ride, you declined and slowly quitting because you no longer have the motivation to ride anymore to keep up with them. Remember, everyone starts as a beginner, you never know how many hours more experienced cyclists have clocked in on their bikes. Focus on your progress rather than comparing yourself to others. The most important thing is not to chase the 30km/h, 40km/h average, but to just show up every single day there is a ride and you will be surprised how much you improve in the next 6 months. This will build your confidence for bigger challenges.
